Sonoma Market Still My Fav

by Joanne I.

Sonoma Market is still my "market of choice" in Sonoma. I LOVE to cook and living in SF most of the time, I got spoiled with all of the specialty markets to shop in. But Sonoma Market really has filled that gap in Sonoma. They were a bit expensive, but their prices have come down with the recent move-in of Whole Foods. Without question their meat and fish departments are far superior to Whole Foods and they have a great wine selection with many inexpensive buys to try with some great surprises. There are still a few items that they could look at (not quite sure why their yogurt prices are so much higher), but I will continue to make Sonoma Market my favorite grocery store in the area.

Whole Foods Reigns -- Goodbye Sonoma Market!

by Annie M.

Thank goodness Whole Foods came to town! Sonoma Market has been price gauging its customers for decades --especially in the days when the only other places to shop in town were Albertsons or Safeway. It's one thing to pay for top dollar for top quality but while the prepared deli items may look appealing at this store, EVERYTHING is way overpriced and many prepared items are sold way past their prime. The cost of non-organic produce at Sonoma Market is almost what you would pay for organic produce at most grocers and the price of meat and seafood is highway robbery. It's about time someone took a bite out of Sonoma Market's profit margin and gave them a run for their money! Let's hope its enough to send Sonoma Market packing in 2009.

And then sit in the town square or outside on the patio and enjoy your lunch before heading up to the wineries for some tastings. The market offers a wide selection of gourmet foods, gifts, and your every day fare as well.

Best grocery store in Sonoma

by Brooke S. | top100 Top100 | Rank: 95

I love the Sonoma Market. They carry a wide variety of high quality items that you just can't find at your regular grocery store. They have a great salad bar, fresh baked goods, coffee bar and one of the best wine and beer selections in town.

Good for special items

by Judy B. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,700

Although not a place to do the majority of your food shopping, because of their prices, they do carry generally healthier, good quality items. Their salad and hot food bars have a good selection of quick to-go foods. Deli sandwiches are made to order and just like the salad bar, for every 10 you get one free. Their fruits and veggies are better quality than what you find at Safeway and there is a selection of organic produce along with some that is locally-grown. Ive also found that any bouquets of flowers that I get here have not only been beautiful to look at, but they seem to last longer than most. A note to those who have cats, Sonoma Market has the best price Ive seen anywhere on Fancy Feast. Sometimes, they surprise you with some good deals.
