It takes a while to figure out how the program and purchases work. Be aware that a hold will be put on your card when you make a purchase but that a "real" charge is only made when the item ships.
My only strong caution is that I would recommend that you NOT have any sizing done by the company. If you like an item and buy it, let it come to you without any alterations. Then, if within the 7 day trial period you decide that you want to keep your purchase, you can return it without penalty. If you alter a ring size or if they do, you may be subject to a 20% restocking fee. This can be substantial when added to the cost of shipping which you pay for as well.
Overall I have had very good luck with these folks. They do have the highest BBB rating and you can look at the BBB web site to see how disputes were resolved.
Finally, you must do your homework and know what you;re buying in order to get good value. The "retail prices" are totally arbitrary and I have a rule that any appraised value is roughly 2-3 times the real value if you went to a jeweler to sell a purchase. For major stones (>$10,000) negotiate for a true GIA appraisal, and if you can't get it tossed in the deal then pay for it yourself ($300-$500). It's worth it's weight in gold; have them send the stone in directly for the GIA certification. Then, when you get your stone your see the stone and have the GIA info in hand so that you would have the 7 days to return it if necessary. If you send the stone for the GIA cert, your 7 day window will have lapsed.
So, as always, buyer beware. But of all the TV gem sellers, Gem Shopping is my choice when I see a sleeper value. One last note -they have made money refunds much more speedy on returns. It use to take forever; now it is roughly 2 weeks. .

I have ordered many pieces over the last year and a half. All have arrived promptly, well packaged and with appraisals, when appropriate. I was only dissapointed with a "grab bag" of small loose sapphires. All the jewelery has been better than discussed on air, when it arrives in person.

I have spoken with customers service about shipping notices and everything has been exceptional. I will continue to be a buying client! And in the comfort of my own home!

I used to work for Bailey Banks & Biddle Jeweler's, and I love the Gem Shopping Network. Everything I purchased has been beautiful and exactly what they said it was. I like that they follow the guidelines of the GIA. I recently bought a Sean cut Rasberry colored Tourmaline and a custom mounting, and it gets more compliments than my three carat diamond engagement ring. It is nothing short of spectaculor! I am a big fan!

Refunds are very slow. I was promised a very large refund w/i 3 to 5 business days. It is now 10 days and counting. My shipping and insurance costs on one item amounted to over $1,000.00; $858.00 out to me and $200.00 back to them. Even though they receive Huge discounts from FedEx they are refusing to refund any of the returned item's s/h costs. Watch Out for the S/H if you buy a high cost item from these people. Remember these "Hosts" are commissioned Salespeople not jewelry experts, I may have learned an expensive lesson. I have hired an attorney.

I recently purchased a fire opal, I got to see on TV and everything. I bought it for $10.00 and it's worth about $85.00 so right there that's an amazing deal.

I've been learning about and buying gemstones since I was 15 years old. I just love this company, just one of the two companies that I have been watching on the television that I trust.

There was a bit of confusion over my shipping address they were very nice and understanding and willing to help me, I think I called them about four times each time they were as nice as the first. They also upgraded my shipping to FedEx 2Day, for the price of standard. :)

I recently made another purchase of a mandarin garnet, I hope when I receive it. Its as nice as my other purchase.

It also brings comfort to me to know that they are connected with the GIA (Gemological Institute Of America.) I Love It. :D

i bought a ring. followed the instructions to the "T" on how to make a proper return. received and return my ring within !0 days. it is now 56 days later. no refund. I caled twice to inquire. my refund is in "que". which to me they are holding my refund til they are in a better place financially to give me a credit. I explained to the customer rep (of which they only have one when you are trying to make a return) and of course no supervisor to speak to. They say her name is Erin. explains the policy of refunds be given after 2 billing cycles. they don"t tell you this when your buying. if they received the merchandise, and have acknowledge that. then where's the refund???????? i also bought two other pieces of jewelry. the jewelry is beautiful!!!!!!!!! the customer service is the worse. I contacted the BBB.

Unless you have money to burn don't buy from Gem Shopping Network. Because it takes them a long time for them to put your money back on your credit card once they get it. In my case, i ordered 2 gemstones to make earrings out of but, one was the size i ordered and the other one was alot smaller. Anyone who has good eyesight could see that. BEWARE!!!!! THEY ARE A CHEAT & BEAT COMPANY!!!!!!! STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THEM!!!! UNLESS YOU WANT TO LOSE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!! =(

Unless you are a bank or lending institution, do NOT do business with these people. They are running a clever scheme to borrow money from you - interest free, of course. If you purchase anything from them that turns out to be of disappointing quality, you will not see a refund from them any time soon. They capture your payment on a credit or debit card BEFORE you are informed that they do not refund for 60 days after the return of the merchandise. In my case, it has been much longer than 60 days and still no refund. BEWARE!

I've bought A LOT of jewelry over the years, and Gem Shopping Network is my first choice. Their quality is out of this world, and their prices are fair given the quality you're getting -- more than some of the "cheap seat" jewelry channels, but these gems are beyond comparison to what's being offered elsewhere.

The other review that says "bait and switch?" What? How can you bait and switch when you're a live auction that sells one item a a time? I think this is incorrect information. At any rate, it's not specific, and is therefore, to me worthless.

Here's my experience with Gem Shopping Network.

I looked at a ruby and diamond ring in a local jewelry shop (very reputable) for $19,000. I bought one 2 weeks later on Gem Shopping network that was of a higher quality (certified Burma ruby with more and better diamonds) for $5,900. My wife was knocked out when she saw it... it was a jaw-dropper.

Time after time, when I compare their offerings to local shops or online offerings, I find that you're getting more for your money with Gem Shopping Network.

Their format is a little hard to get used to, but call in, and they'll explain it to you if you ask. All the people on the phones are very nice to work with.

Since that first order, I've ordered some diamond earrings that were totally stunning -- and for a good price. I have three more orders pending, so obviously, my dealings with the company have left me with a good feeling about the cost, quality, and service standards of Gem Shopping Network.

I honestly wonder if the other reviewer has them confused with other TV-based jewelry companies with similar names. You see an item, you call, make them an offer, they take it, and it's sent to you. How can bait and switch be used in that format? If they sent you something you didn't order, you have a 7-day approval period anyhow.

GEM SHOPPING NETWORK

Do not do business with them. Bait and switch tactics. They promise items returnable - refunds take over 2 months - if you actually get a refund at all.

Steer clear of them - and of AVC (America Value Channel) they too are crooks. They bait & switch and sell junk jewelry at high prices and send you an inflated appraisal.
