Milligan stables is a one of a kind, outstanding, 5 star horse farm. Where the horses are always pampered and well taken care of. Patty's work ethics are second to no one. And she makes sure that everyone that works for her practices her beliefs. From the most important things down to the minute things nothing is overlooked. As a coustomer, you will be hard pressed to find a better horse buying experience. Patty and Patty's people are natural, real people that will make your visit a good time. One that you will not soon forget. From the horses to the farm, everything is first class. With out a doubt the stars from heaven are always shining their light on Milligan stables. Thank you so much for the wonderful memories that I will chierish for the rest of my life.

Jen my trainer was very calm, encouraging, my first trainer horse Freddie was a good test of my skills. The place is obviously dedicated to the wellbeing and comfort of the animals and ease of the riders and is immaculately kept. I ride whenever/wherever I get the chance, wherever I travel so have knowledge of many kinds of seats, EXCEPT saddle seat so this is adding to my knowledge. Each step is explained 'why' so it makes sense to me, without talking down to me in the least. I was very comfortable and my horse was top notch and not disliking the fact that he was a lesson horse. I will be continuing lessons with Milligan for awhile as it's the first 'formal' lessons I've ever received (I kind of learned as I went before). They were all very friendly with my visiting husband and 4 yr old daughter, we walked the barns and visited the horses who were all kept in impeccable condition. They did not mind my husband/daughter watching the lesson if they sat inside the ring and didn't cause distractions. I look forward to my next lesson (as soon as my knees loosen up - I see where I need to exercise myself to make it easier and me not ending up on my rear upon dismount as my knees just went 'no' and wouldn't hold. Very much 5 stars for every single person I've met out there, including the maintenance folks.

Milligan's Stables isn't your average dude ranch or YMCA-style kiddie riding lesson venue. Patty Milligan and her late husband, Dale, opened their American Saddlebred training stables on Parker Road almost 40 years ago, and it is still one of the premier show barns in the country. Although American Saddlebreds are fairly rare compared to American Quarter Horses, there are over 80 horses in training or in the lesson program at Milligans. Candee Carlson is the main lesson instructor, and she has been giving lessons for around 30 years, with riders going on to become successful exhibitors across the country, and even teachers themselves. The horses are personable, but not "plugs," and the staff is friendly and intuitive. You or your children will learn much about yourself, communicating with a large free-willed animal, winning and losing, perseverance, pride, responsibility, and come away with a good workout and exposure to an industry from a bygone era that most people never see. Definitely worth any difficulties in getting "in" that may occur due to sheer demand or busy schedules!
