I live in Memphis, TN, but I go to Austin several times per year for work (and of course for ACL). Since the first time I have stepped foot in One-2-One, I have never made a trip to Austin without stopping by there.
Austin has a great music scene. However, so does Memphis so I am at least a little bit picky. There is so much music in Austin that I fear some of it is a bit "maufactured" if you will. That is, too homogenized and 'designed to entertain' and not enough emphasis on the music. I cannot say that about any act I have seen at One-2-One. Their shows are quality from open to close every night (and there is never a cover).
There are several bands that play there regularly and then there are also slots that constantly change. Of the regulars, I always try to see 80H Project and also Karl Morgan if I can make it there more than once during a stay--often I make it there more often than that.

p.p.s. I have never even been upstairs. Sorry I cannot comment to that. I hear it's a good time up there. But I've always had so much fun downstairs that it has never occurred to me to go up there.

Best live music in Austin!!

THE BEST live music line-up to be found in Austin, no joke. You can go to One-2-One any night of the week and see a great band, guaranteed. (Except Sun and Mon when they're closed, of course) If they're playing there, they're good, that's the long and short. No cover - ever, great drink prices, awesome patio upstarirs, great sound. What more could you want? One of the few remaining quality, free, live music venues in Austin, by rights this place should be jammed to the rafters all the time, but thankfully for us, it's not - yet... I love this place.
Pros: Great: bands; sound; staff; patio; drink specials, no cover!
Cons: Hmmm, thinking... nope, none.

BEST BAR IN TOWN, HANDS DOWN!!!!!!!

If you are downtown and looking to hear great music, look no further than One2One. There is NEVER a cover and the bands are ALWAYS awesome. Friendly and helpful staff make you feel at home. Nicest and coolest staff around! On top of that (literally) they have a great deck with plenty of comfortable seating and a great view of downtown. Why aren't you there right now?

Is this the best bar in this big town we call a city? Is their new rooftop patio/bar the chillest place to kick it with your crew? On nights when there's live music, is it not freaking fantastic? The staff and owners, are they not someone you'd actually buy a beer if they happened to be on your side of the bar? If you've been to The One-2-One Bar you know the answer to all of these questions isn't some much of a "yes" as it is a "Hell Freaking Yes!". And if you haven't been, you should check it out next time your downtown and find out for yourself. (oh, and by the way, for that rocking music, there's never a cover. Ever.)
Pros: It's not the Warehouse District or 6th Street

Awesome "neighborhood" feel - even for out-of-towners

I am from Dallas and spent a weekend in Austin a couple months ago. I stopped into One-2-One the first night I was there and ended up spending the majority of my weekend "bar" time at this one bar. The atmosphere is very relaxed, the clientelle are cool and open, and the service was outstanding - even at its most crowded times, I could get a drink. I highly recommend this place.

If you feel like having a relaxed night downtown, this is the place to go...Great prices, great service, awesome hookah lounge and great tunes! The deli next door will even bring you food! What more could you ask for? I really enjoy One2One and will definetly be back! Thanks for the great times guys!!

one2one Rocks!!

Being in the service industry I need a place to unwind after work and one 2 one is one of my favorites. The tunes are always rockin' the poeple are cool, mondays you get free poker tournaments, and recently therer has been some sewwt smells of hooka tobacco in the air. There are some hotties behind the bar, and in the DJ booth as well as their "regular" clientel. Go check it out 2-night!!
Pros: inexpensive, not sixth street

Where everybody knows your name!

One 2 One is my favorite bar! Why? Because not only is it awesome to just hang out by the window and people watch or meet your friends there for a couple of drinks or rounds of golf, but the owners rock! Destiny and Greg make the place more personal... it's not just some corporate bar where you get lost in a sea of faces... they and the staff remember your name and your drink! Hello! I frequent this bar at least twice a week.
