After having dinner at local restaurant, we took ourselves to visit Rioja, A wine Bar located on Battleground Ave. I wanted to take the wife out on the town but keep it low key and romantic. We first went to Sweet Basil's restaurant that is new (which was fantastic)then ventured to the wine bar for after dinner drinks and more oogling of my wife. Rioja is a quaint place that is spacious and cozy. We sat a a side table and after looking at the extensive wine list finally settled on a simple Pinor Noir. This is the perfect place if you want to come and talk over a glass of wine and be able to focus on your date; the staff leaves you alone and it's not to crowed so you don't have to fight off the throngs of people bumping or loud music that doesn't allow you to speak in normal tones.

The crowd was of an average age of late twenties and up with some "old timers" at the bar. The young people took to themselves and this isn't the regular "bar scene" place.

Overall, tonight, my wife and I had a wonderful evening. Unfortunatly, she had to much wine and I am left at the computer (and watching television), however this night was not about me but her and she loved the evening. I recommend Rioja's as a great place to finish an evening or if in the mood to just have wine too! Together with the mentioned restaurant earlier (I think staff must work at both places because each wait staff knew and highly recommened each other) we had a great night and gave my wife and I something to look forward to on our next night out.
