The old witch who runs the sales room is a big part of the problem and yes mostly the telemarketers (appointment setters) are undereducated and badly equipped. I would never use this unprofessional bunch. Ed seems OK to me and I don't know

Absolute Comfort misdiagnosed my a/c problem and sold me an evaporator coil that I did not need (and charged me a whopping $2,400). It became obvious that that was not the problem when the a/c problems persisted after the new coil was installed. Plus, their own documentation included enough information to convince my new a/c contractor that the evaporator coil was never the problem. Additionally, I now know that pressure readings taken by Absolute Comfort shortly after the coil was installed indicated that the problem had not been fixed, yet they left it that way anyway.\r\n\r\nBecause Absolute Comfort left my a/c functioning improperly, my compressor burned up long before its time. That cost me another $2750 to replace. It took my new a/c contractor 2 full days to undo the damage left behind by Absolute Comfort. \r\n\r\nAbsolute Comfort made 4 different trips to my house and did not send the same repairman each time. This convinces me that dishonest practices I experienced were not limited to a single employee.\r\nIncidentally, they advised me to stop using the 4"" thick filters that my system called for and to use 1"" thick filters instead. I did as they advised, and the 1"" thick filter, which was too flimsy for my system, got sucked into the motor of the unit!\r\n\r\nAlso, before I knew of the damage Absolute Comfort has caused me, my mother called them because she started hearing a rattle from her a/c system. They were at her house for 10 minutes and charged her $155. They told her the problem was that she was using the wrong filter. She explained that she had been using the same type filter for years but they insisted that was the problem. Dissatisfied with that answer, she mentioned it to my brother who decided to take a look for himself (although handy, he is not an a/c repairman). He quickly discovered a loose screw, tightened it, and the rattle stopped.\r\n\r\nFor your own sake, please do not use Absolute Comfort.

I called Absolute Comfort Air Conditioning, 16840 Clay Rd, #101, Houston, TX 77084, Tel. 281-550-5640, as a result of an ad placed on our subdivision monthly community newsletter.\n\nThe technician promised to be there within 2 hours. I left someone at the house and asked him to call me when he is near the house, and I visited a neighbor nearby while I waited. \n\nLater he called to inform me that the work was finished and that he forgot to call me. He was at the house less than 10 minutes and the bill was $ 335. \n\nWhen I asked what he did, he mentioned that ?he changed a fuse?. I asked him to give me the old fuse back, and he said, he threw it away. What a rip-off! \n\nCan you believe this?\n\nA company relies on lies, rip-offs and deception does not deserve to do business in the Katy area?.shame on them!\n\nThere are many good, decent air conditioning repair companies, you?ve just got to ask your friends and neighbors for referrals and check them out online. And avoid Absolute Air Comfort Air Conditioning like a plague!\n\nKaty & West Houston Residents DON?T USE ABSOLUTE COMFORT AIR - spread the word to friends and family, church members, neighbors, and to anyone who you really care about. \n\n

Our experience with Absolute Comfort began 4 years ago (2006). We had an old system that needed to be completely replaced. We went with this company for the work. The system never really cooled well at all. On June 25, 2008, we found the system acting as though it were freezing up. We would shut it off for an hour, then turn it on and it would blow cool air again. Absolute Comfort sent a technician and he told us the evaporator coil was leaking freon and needed to be replaced. It was under warranty and labor would be $1200.00. In the middle of a Houston summer, we were in a pinch and had to do it. After the replacement coil, the system cooled fairly well for about a month or so. Then, it went back to freezing up.\r\n\r\nFast forward to June 14, 2010. Our system is in bad shape and not cooling well at all. It wouldn't cool below about 80 degrees in the house. We called out Absolute Comfort again and the technician Chad told us the system needed 3 lbs of freon, but only had one insignificant leak in the coil and it wasn't the problem and that the system was *not* freezing up at all. This immediately raised red flags for us. A/C SYSTEMS DO NOT LOSE FREON UNLESS THERE IS A LEAK SOMEWHERE. A SYSTEM LOSING FREON WILL LITERALLY FREEZE. These are facts. Chad charged the system with 3 to 4 lbs of freon and quoted us $3,000 for new ductwork in our attic. That day, for the service call and freon we paid Absolute Comfort $189.95. 2 days later, we called this company again, because the system still wasn't cooling at all and still acting as though it was freezing up. Chad came out again and told us it was completely full of freon, but the tubes to the coil were clogged and that's why freon wasn't getting to the system in the attic. He then quoted us $2,000 for a new coil. Industry averages for these coils is 12 to 15 years. Having to purchase 3 coils in less than 4 years is not just unreasonable, it would make one think that a company is purposefully doing bad work to keep ""repairing"" things at a home with people that always pay their bills.\r\n\r\nWe had a new company that we researched come out for a second opinion. They were able to show us that our system was nearly empty of freon. They showed us there were multiple leaks in the coil and informed us that the story of the tubes being clogged was untrue. They told us that yes, the coil did need to be replaced, but because it was a shoddy coil that aquired leaks easily, not because of clogged tubes. We had the new company do the work for the new coil. No way were we going to continue to get ripped off by Absolute Comfort again.\r\n\r\nThe next day was a nightmare of calls to and from the technician Chad and the service manager Ed Hillen. Chad argued with my husband about the entire situation until my husband ended the call. Chad actually had the nerve to accuse the new HVAC company of releasing freon to get a bad reading. Ed Hillen was rarely in the office and when he finally called me back, he was very dismissive of my complaints. A direct quote from Mr. Hillen to me was, ""You're telling me what you want. Now I'm gonna tell you what I need."" His company supplied us with a technician that was either incompetent or dishonest. He never acknowledged their immense wrongdoing. He did not take responsibility for Abolute Comfort's subpar workmanship and service.\r\n\r\nWe did get a refund for the $189.95. Mr. Hillen was not willing to compensate us in any way for the 3 evaporator coils in 4 years. He told us that was for us to take up with the manufacturer. Like I said in the headline, extremely unhelpful service manager at this company. \r\n\r\nIn this economy and in this climate in Houston, no one can afford to pay exhorbitant rates for horrendous A/C service. It is my sincere hope that anyone who reads this review will learn from our mistake of hiring ""Absolute DisComfort"".

Cons: bad techs; bad service; EXPENSIVE

.

We had work on our air ducts to increase the air flow into my daughters bedrooms, add return air vents into the upstairs bedrooms, and add an additional return air vent downstairs. The tech, Robert, was very knowledgeable. He walked us through all our options and answered all of our questions thoroughly. \r\nThe day the crew showed I made them aware of when my 1 yr old had to take her naps and they were very quiet. When they finished they cleaned everything up. It was spotless. I highly recommend Absolute. I've had multiple good experiences with this company.

Pros: HONEST tech, quick repair, worked with my schedule

.

The tech was supposed to come at 10 am as an emergency call to fix the AC. He didn't call us until 11 am to tell me he was going to call me back later to get directions, then he called me 30 minutes later to get directions, and 30 minutes later to tell me he was 30 minutes away.\r\nThen, he diagnosed the AC problem as a failing fan motor due to maintenance. Which would cost us $400 approximately for him to clean our coils with a chemical and replace the fan motor.\r\nComplete LIE. The AC tech we had a week before that and the AC tech that came after him told us that the AC had no maintenance issues and the coils were not even dirty.\r\nThat said, the only reason we called another tech is because they would not call us back or let us know when he was coming back to \r\n""fix"" the problem so we had to wait for 4 days without AC. SAVE YOURSELF MONEY AND HASSLE, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. They were rude to my wife on the phone and were practically yelling at her on the phone for inquiring about the status of the repair.

Got my AC system checked on April 28, 2008 and was told everything was okay. The technician said he wished he could find something wrong that way he has something to do but he can't find anything wrong with our AC unit and compressor. When he left, he set the AC thermostat at 80 degrees whic was OK for me. Two days later my kids were complaining it was so hot in the house, so I had the AC down to 65 degrees but i could not hear the unit running. My husband went to check the AC unit in the attic and discovered that the AC unit's cover was incorrectly placed back and as a result the AC switch came off. My husband placed back the cover correctly and now the i could hear the unit running but it has been running for 2 hours and 30 minutes and the whole house remains hot.. .we're not getting any cold air..I called the company about the problem we have encountered..\r\n\r\nThe same technician showed up at my house this morning and I told him the AC unit's switch came off because he did not put the cover back correctly and he apologized for that. After checking the AC unit in the attic and the compressor, he told me this time there's a problem in my compressor and would cost about $300 for the replacement part.\r\n\r\nI asked him how could that happen? "" My AC unit and compressor were in perfect condition before you did your contract check up. In fact , you told me everyting is well maintained."" My evaporator coil is brand new and compressor was checked last Oct. I asked him what kind of check up and work do you do? Before you did your check up everything was in perfect working condition and after you did your check up on our unit that's when the problem started. The technician told me he had no explanation for what happened.\r\n\r\nI complained to the office and was told that things could go wrong a day or two after their check up.Since they did not do any repair or replacement during their inspection or check up, there is no warranty on their inspection job.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
