I have had the worst customer service nightmare by trying to get help from people in Indonesia, Costa Rica, whereever, etc.
When I sent in my March mortgage payment, I left $.85 off of the payment check. I don't know --maybe I was paying bills late at night or something. I confess to leaving the 85 cents off the check.
Well, you would have thought I had robbed a Chase Bank!
I got a phone call on Saturday from a woman I could barely understand saying I was a month behind in payments. She said because I had left the 85 cents off of the payment check, The COMPUTER had not recognized it as a payment and had labeled that check "Principal" and had shown me delinquent on my March loan payment. And the computer had also charged me a $32,14 late fee.
I told her "OK, I will put a check for 85 cents in the mail this afternoon."
She said she would remove the late charge "just this once" since I am a good customer.
The next week, I get a paper statement showing that I was delinquent again! I also get a phone call from who knows where at
8:30 am, EST. (I work late nights.) I went through the whole story with this Chase employee. Then she says "Oh, yes, I see it in the notes. Goodbye." (no apology, nothing)
Then this last Sunday, I get a call from a heavily accented young man. He asked me if I had gotten a call from Chase Bank. I told him "yes", so he apolgises for bothering me on Sunday.
ALL THIS OVER 85 CENTS!?!?!
I would like to suggest that Chase Bank revise their COMPUTER
so that this kind of up-roar can be prevented--even if a customer left off the 85 cents or whatever change. I would like to also suggest that if a customer does send a check for the wrong amount, Chase Customer Service telephone or e-mail that customer, POLITLEY, and gently point out the customer's error. Let the customer have the opportunity to correct their error before jumping to conclusions & before charging a $35.00 late fee!
I would like someone to get this whole mess straightened out, refund the Late fee of $35.00 and give me an apology for all the time & aggravation I have spent because of that 85 cents.
Very Very Sincerely,
Norma K Cloe
I offered to give her a non-Chase Visa card number for the 85 cents.
