I was beyond disappointed tonight 9/19/11. There were drain flies throughout the establishment. I ordered two beers and had to return both as many drain flies committed suicide in my beer. I was told the situation with the drain flies was better than last week. I spoke to the manager and she stated she knows of the problem. I was in the food service field and know that if you don;t clean your drains ( the automated wine taps drain) you will persistently get drain flies. MY party and I did not order dessert as the flies were all over the place. We counted over 22 on the bottle nearest to us. We did not even get a sorry or anything. The management does not seem to care.

To get the best experience, go on an afternoon or a weeknight to avoid overcrowding. The atmosphere and variety of wines and cheeses will make you want to come back for more!

This is a nice concept restaurant, but the service here is HORRIBLE, and management sucks.
I would not recommend this place to anyone. Will not come back again due to a dusgusting experience I had with their bartender.

I love this place. It is a staple everytime I visit Winter Park. I like that you can try various types od wines without making a committment to one kind.

The Wine Room on Park Avenue, in Winter Park, Florida, has a very unique business that merges the concept of a wine bar and a wine shop together. This is a great place to take family and friends!

The Wine Room is a great place to spend a couple of hours on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Parking in the area is plentiful and generally at meters (bring some quarters). You can sample 120 or so wines by the glass at prices ranging from $1.25 to $30+ per ounce. I didn't like that I had to pay $3 for a wine card so I could pay them more. Perhaps they should refund that $3 after you've refilled the card a few times. It just seems like it nickel and dimes you.

The wines vary from very low end where you feel the need to use tweezers to pull the splinters out of your mouth, to sublime. I've tasted everything from wines that weren't worth remembering (except to maybe know not to wate your palate on them in the future) to higher end Cali cabs and Bordeaux. The prices are at times reasonable, and at others fairly obscene--particularly when they are charging the equivalent of $500+ for a bottle of a 2004 Cali cab that isn't going to reach it's peak for another 5-10 years.

We've found that there is often not enough seating, and have at times left to go eat elsewhere when we had originally planned on eating there due to not being able to find a place to sit. During off-hours it's a great and relaxing place. During peak hours it's too crowded. We've also seen some pretty unruly drunks there--including a group of women who were literally falling down drunk, not to mention cursing like sailors at the top of their lungs. Management did eventually send them on their way, but not until after they had really created a scene that should have been addressed much earlier.

The food is tasty, and although the portions don't look like much, they are in fact very filling. I wish they would offer a selection of Ports and dark chocolates as well.

I haven't been to one of their seminars, maybe in the future.

When it's good, it's absolutely wonderful. When it's bad, I'm sorry that I've wasted the time and energy to get there.

Pros: Great selection, good way to try half a dozen wines in a couple of hours

Cons: Can get really crowded, prices are a very unreasonable 4-5 times markup

The Wine Room is a great place to gather with friends to start the night off. The atmosphere is fun and you have the opportunity to try wines that you might otherwise not. You purchase a wine card and they give you a glass to try different wines on tap. I wouldn't recommend drinking wines you already like, it is cheaper to buy a bottle. Overall, this is a great place to spend a couple of hours but can be really expensive if you spend the whole night there.
