Do not, under any circumstances, move with this company. I will outline the areas where they failed.
1. Several of my items were lost during transport. They eventually tracked them down in a warehouse and had another carrier bring them to me when they happened to be headed in my direction. It took five weeks to recover the items and several calls to customer service. In the meantime, I had to sleep and eat on the floor of my new apartment because I had no table legs or slats for my bed.

2. Several items were damaged or destroyed during transport. Every item of furniture I own is now nicked, scratched, dinged, scuffed, or has some form of water damage. And the bottom shelves of my end tables and center table are broken off. This was all the result of movers dragging my items (instead of lifting); putting tape directly on furniture instead of on blanket wrap; and improperly stacking the load.

3. My move was grossly underestimated--to the tune of over $700. (This does not include the $350 insurance premium with a $500 deductible that I paid.) On the day of the delivery, I was pressured by the foreman into changing the payment method to calculation by square foot instead of by weight because he said it would cost me well over $4000. This is NOT a decision that anyone should be faced to make on the day of their move.

4. Payment method was not clearly addressed when signing the contract. I was not informed ahead of time that I would have to pay by cash or check to the foreman on the day of pickup and on the day of the delivery.

5. The moving staff was 5 hours late to pickup. They did not call to let me know there was a delay so I had no idea if they were lost or if they were simply a no-show. I called customer service for assistance and they gave me the driver's phone number to call him directly. Of course, he did not pick up the phone.

6. The delivery directions were not followed. I prearranged for my landlord to sign for my items when they arrived because I would be out of the country. I filled out a power of attorney form and provided all the information to customer service with the phone number and name of my landlord and two other names in case something should happen. On the day of the delivery, I received repeated calls and threats that my items would not be delivered--meanwhile, I was in China and would not see these messages for three weeks. When I finally received an email from Customer Service--the same agent I had made arrangements with--I had to reply to again emphasize that this had all been prearranged before they finally delivered as promised.

7. The movers were unprofessional. They shouted at each other during the entire move. One mover even asked if he could drink the two beers in my fridge.

8. When my furniture was finally delivered, none of the items that they took apart were reassembled. This is standard interstate moving policy. If a bed or dresser is taken apart by movers, they need to be put it back together. My bed, dresser/mirror, and tables were not put together. I had to do what a crew of three paid men couldn't do on my own. Likewise, all of my boxes were put in the master bedroom and all of the furniture was squeezed into the office half its size. I am 5'5" and 130lbs and I was forced to move the dressers, desks, etc and assemble all furniture because my three paid movers couldn't handle the task.

9. The claims process is a mess. I had to resubmit my claims forms four times, with three different areas: claims department, customer service, and two specific agents, before someone finally said they were received. When I filled out the forms, I was told it could take anywhere from 4 months to 6 months to receive compensation. It has been over a month since I sent in the initial claim and I have yet to even hear the status of my claim.

10. This is NOT a moving company; it is a 3rd party moving brokerage. I was not told this and it is not indicated in any way on the website and publicity material. Nationwide Relo dispatches local companies to make the move. As a result, they know nothing about who will move your items, where they will be, how to contact the movers, or how to handle issues as they arise.
The one area where I felt some satisfaction was with the customer service agent named Angel Brown. She worked with me until my missing items were recovered, and I do believe that if it weren't for her diligence and professionalism I would never have received these items. Unfortunately, once she had recovered my items, she no longer answered my phone calls regarding my claims application for the damaged items.

All in all, I give this company an F.

Ok, I promised Pamela Ling that I would post something if the move went well. I was actually really impressed with the way the move went. The movers moved everythig onto the truck carefully and showed up on time. When I moved into my new place, I had the same experience and everything went perfectly. I would use again in a heartbeat.

As far as the move goes, it was good. Why I??m writing though, is because pf Paul McCabe, the guy who helped me over the phone with my estimate. They??re called ??moving coordinators? and he is the one who gave me the estimate of what everything would cost when I called. He was very patient with me because I didn??t understand at first how the estimate worked but he explained how the moving quote works very clearly so I didn??t feel like I was being ripped off.

Each time I called with a question, he made sure I knew how to get him directly and there was never a time that he didn??t call me back within a few hours. The move itself was good, above average. Nothing was damaged and the movers came on time.

Be aware that any negotiation you have with this company is not binding b/c ultimately the carrier, provided to you by Nationwide Relocation (NR) without your knowledge, is who you will have to take issues if you have a problem. I would NEVER use NR again and definitely would not refer NR to anyone i know. Just BE CAREFUL when you work with NR.

The single worst moving experience of my life, by far. They tricked me into using their service, broke my stuff, and then over charged me $1000 and now wont even call me back.

The moving truck they sent finally showed up 3 days later than agreed, charged me more to wrap my glass coffee tables (so we just left them), harassed me for 3 days while i was looking for an apartment to move into to tell them where to deliver (although i had month storage included in my quote), again showed up 3 days later than agreed to deliver. they were very disrespectful of my stuff and broke dishes, pictures, and even ripped my leather couch.

Here's the kicker: they toldl me I have to pay an additional $1000 dollars on top of what my balance was, that i had confirmed the night before. These @$$holes were very rude and told me that i either pay up or they keep my belongings hostage. no weigh ticket, no explination, just pay us or else, and maybe you can try to get your money back later.

Luckily, now that i have paid and am trying to get my money back they dont seem to be willing to call me back or answer when i call. ive tried calling for two weeks and get nothing, so i have filed with the BBB and am going to every review website i can find to warn others. BE CAREFUL!! USE ANOTHER SERVICE!!
