Really enjoyed myself every time I've been here. Great drinks although a little pricey but service is excellent and good times are always sure to be had.

Best Kept secret in ATL. Lots of hot ladies and local sugar daddies. You need some late night fun without a bunch of tools? This is your place in Buckhead.

I have been here several times because I love to drink and I love to have fun... the prices are a little high, but still worth it... definitely recommend this place if you like martinis mixed with having fun

Pros: fantastic drinks

We were visiting Atlanta from Kuwait. Came across Beluga Bar on the net. Decided to drop in, it was a late week night, however the place was packed. As soon as we entered the door the bartender greeted us and introduced himself. Many comfortable areas to sit, relax, listen to live music and unwind. Wonderful place with great staff! We'll be back!!! :)

I got suckered into going here by someone who said we were going to a comfortable bar. This is not. Valet parking and a dress code is not my idea of comfort. The people were obnoxious and, I guess since I looked so out of place, I could barely get service. This is just a place for washed-up old dudes to try to score. Gross.

I read the reviews and it was recommended by a family member as a great place to go to for jazz and a cool environment. My husband and I showed up at 10pm and there was a valet person who had to park our car. I was caught off guard b/c usually its optional but here it wasn't. The parking lot for the cars was not far at all so we didn't understand why we couldn't park it ourselves and save $$ but it wasn't allowed. There is a cover at 10pm but they hadn't started it yet. Its a real hole in the wall and it was poorly decorated outside. We walked in to see maybe 20 people scattered throughout the place and most of them being over the age of 35. My husband and I are in our mid 20's and we had no indication that this was a "mature" jazz spot but that wasn't a big issue. The drinks are expensive. I ordered a shot of grey goose for my husband and I and we were charged $17.00! Needless to say, that was the only drink we had all night there. The website and sign outside said the band would start at 10:30pm but the guy outside handling the parking said they would start at a quarter til 11 or 11:00.

They ended up starting at 11:00 and they started off with the band playing and it was really nice. At first. The singer that night was Clairborne and she was funny. She even smoked on stage (literally a soap box). The crowd was something unexpected. By 11:30pm the average age was 55-65. No lie! Maybe we can all party together... well, the songs the band started doing was old old old school... like Gladys Knight and the Pips!
Too old for me and we ended up leaving at 12.At that point the club became crowded and there were drunks fighting right in front of her and I was scared she was going to be knocked off her box. I'd recommend Saturday nights for caucasians over the age of 40. You'll have a great time. If you don't fit that group, you'll be looking around astounded as the night goes on. Also, people were smoking up a storm, be prepared to come out smelling like a chimney.

One of Atlanta's best kept secrets. Very nice and sultry atmosphere with a wonderful mixed crowd. Open for couples and select gentleman looking to mingle.

In response to Tattlehaters review. I have meet Andi and Jeff and have been a patron of Beluga for many years. The service has always been excellent and proffesional. Every time I have clients in town I bring them straight to Beluga. I am positive any one asked to leave the establishment was well justified. Keep the up the good work Andi and Jeff see you soon.

Pros: Service and Atmosphere

.

Last august, a large group of friends from the bar industry including myself went to Beluga. We had a great time. We all laughed, drank, and tipped well. I tried to return with my friend and I was refused service. Why? a friend of Andi the waitress and I do not get along. I never said anything to her. I was drinking bottled water and not there to cause drama. I was simply out with a friend. People can and do try to go on with their lives. I left without incident but it was really embarassing. My friend was shocked. If I had done something to her or another staff member or created a problem on the property or even tried to talk to her- I could understand- because you do not get along with a FRIEND of a staff member who is not on or near the property is no reason to refuse service. This is simply immaturity and petty behavior by a group of bullies. This server needs to grow up and her boss, Jeff, should have made it clear that if I was not TALKING to her, about her or trying to distract her from her job, there was not reason to ask me to leave. I have worked in the hospitality industry over 20 years and there are plenty of people I do not like, but professionalism is important. Obviously, the staff could use a refresher course in this area.
Dooie, my previous experience was great too. I went back with a friend- who was celebrating her birthday. Because these individuals are friends with someone who I have an EXTREMELY bitter dispute they asked me to leave. Because someone in the bar industry does not like you- Do you divide the bars in the city? Run a fence down the middle of town? You grow up and move on. I do still live in this town and if I am not bothering them- then I should have the right to be treated with respect and dignity just like any other person who walks in the door. If a bartender down the road dislikes you- should you be barred from every club? I maintain they were petty and immature. I caused no problems on their property.

A GREAT spot to hang out that has great live music and a professional crowd. Beluga is a great neighborhood spot that has all of the trappings of a friendly neighboorhood bar and an upscale lounge. Very fun and professional crowd who is looking to party and have a good time. Drinks are good and strong, staff is friendly and music is great! They really do a good job with a vast variety of Martini's and EXCELLENT VODKA ! Classy crowd and upscale dress code! An ice change from the Jeans & T's crowd. Highly recommended!

This is a fun bar. I am not sure about this bar being labeled as a classy martini bar but this bar has a good bands playing good music and nice bartenders, Jeff and Andy. Though, my experience is entirely based on the weekday nights. May be it becomes a classy place on the weekend.

This is a kind of bar you can visit by yourself if you are in town for a business.

I have been going to Beluga for 8 years and I am one that believes you can tell alot about a bar by their staff turn over. I have known Jeff, Joe, Frank, Sandy,Suzanna and Andy (the bartenders), Billy Allen(owner -girls ...you need to make sure you meet Mr. Allen - you can't miss him! I believe he may still be single too!! ) and Michael ( owner...Very hot also -he is very married ,so sad)....My girlfriends and I have always loved to meet at Beluga because it is not a meat market - hot guys, oh YES...don't think we are not looking. It is just rare to beable to go for a cocktail with the girls and know you are safe, you can be one of the married girls and not have to beat off the men....like alot of these clubs in Atlanta. This bar is very classy and the crowd is also. You do not have the boys with the baseball caps, low rise pants and talking trash - if that is your taste DO NOT go to Beluga. Claiborne (the singer) will remember you and all of the staff at Beluga always has a smile and Joe will have your drink on the bar as he sees you walk in.

Pros: Awesome live music, always has a car outside if you need a ride home

Cons: When it is crowded it is crowded

Whether I bring clients, friends or my wife, it's alway right! When I travel to many cities and talk to folks who frequent Atlanta, they ALWAYS know and go, to BELUGA. Awesome music, upscale eclectic crowd - no kids!!!

ALways feels like home, no matter where you are from. NIGHT AFTER NIGHT, YEAR IN AND YEAR OUT

It had been several years since I ventured into Beluga, and in it's day, it was really hot. But like most small older Buckheard clubs/.night spots, it really does need a makeover, like many of the patrons. Still has that cozy vibe, but the strong cigar smoke, ruined our drinks. More accent light is needed, as we don't like stepping or sitting on people we don't know. The combo was just getting fired up as we left, but it could not overcome strong aroma of cheap cigars! Nice cocktail server. Fun evening with old friends!

Went to Beluga in the late 90s when I was a student at Tech. Definitely beyond my budget (not to mention I was the only college-aged kid there), but it was a great place. The two Jeffs behind the bar were awesome. Frank was a great host. Johnny was always a crowd pleaser.

Spent time in New York, Chicago and London since college days and have seen many bars. Each visit home to Atlanta, I'm never disappointed when I visit Beluga. Been to my fair share of joints, and Beluga ranks with the best. A great bar to end (or begin) a date night. And not a bad spot to talk shop and sports with the guys either.

We had a couple drinks, little dancing, and mingling with locals. We liked the
atmosphere and being from out of town, everyone was really nice and friendly.

If you hate cigarette smoke then you will have a love hate thing with Beluga. This is a smokey hole in the wall that luckily has some incredible entertainment. On some weekends they have this former Las Vegas singer named Claiborne, who is unbelievable. She's sort of a mix between Bette Middler and Liza Minelli. She really gets the crowd going. Her band is equally as good. On occasion she'll have a guest act. One night a guy was singing Sinatra that blew me away. I have never seen this quality of talent anywhere else in Atlanta. In accordance, I only go to Beluga when Claiborne is singing. If you get on her mailing list she will tell you when she is there. She has a website at claibornescorner.com

Every time I have business in Atlanta, I look forward to the end of the day at Beluga. Small, intimate, not something you find very often anywhere else. My favorite thing is to pull up a part of the porch, listen to the music from inside and chat with a buddy.

This is a great, safe, weekend late night place to see some very unique musical entertainment. Once you get past the dark and smokey atmosphere you get caught up in the fun and intimacy of the room on any given Friday or Saturday night. Claiborne is the consumate entertainer who always has a good time and invites you to join her. When she is on you see the smiles on people's faces that you just don't see in other places. Tons of fun!!!!!

This place was a big disappointment - smoke filled, crowded, creepy clientelle, too loud, inadequate restrooms, a rude male bartender who refused to exchange a martini, and most of all those overhyped martinis. The only redeeming quality was the courteous bouncer who waived the after 10 cover charge for us. You can find better elsewhere.

As a suburban couple out for date night in Buckhead we always end up at Beluga for after dinner drinks and music. Having outgrown the other Buckhead scene (we're past "young, hip, cool & trendy" but not Johnny's Hideaway material yet!) we chanced upon this coll little club tucked away in an old house set back from the street and loved it the moment we stepped inside. For a littlte dancing and romancing it's got just the right mix of location, size, crowd, friendliness, music, age range, quiet corners and overall atmosphere. No college kids, not a meat market. Joe the bartenter always greets us by name and remembers what we drink.
