It's so nice to get a good massage at a Great price. I usually get the 60 min. swedish massage with Amy or Monica, both are very good. They listen to your needs and what is going on with your body and customize the massage.

I had the worst massage, the lady had no idea what she was doing, the pressure was that of a wet towel being pulled over your body and when she did use pressure it would feel like she was trying to pull the muscles out of my neck which still hurts the next day. When I complained to the front desk all they would say is "I'm sorry you feel that way". The manager was not there so I tried calling the next day and guess what, the manager was always busy and would not return any messages to return my calls. Getting a bad massage is one thing but the way they treat their customers is another. Do not wast your time and money, you will get a better massage if you rub your back on a light pole.

Great massages, great service, and great people. I was greeted by a warm receptionist who was helpful in booking my appointment and explaining the different types of massages to me. Then taken back into the rooms the therapist made me feel really comfortable, as he gave me plenty of time to get relaxed. The massage was perfect deep tissue. I have been to expensive spas here in Austin and found Massage Harmony to give the same strength massage as the others. I have bought one of their packages and have sent some of my friends from out of town in on it. Unlike other places where I had to buy I membership, I can share my massages.

Pros: Great massage, good people, no UPSALES

This place is HORRIBLE!!!! Do NOT be fooled by this place. I've been to a lot of massage places, and the reason I used to go to this place is because it was close to my house. The place is nice looking and trendy, and the prices look low, but don't be fooled. That's because they expect you to add at least a $10, 15, or 20 dollar gratuity. I believe in fairness, and if I receive a good massage, I will centainly tip. I am by no means a deadbeat. But I have received too many bad massages from this place. MANY of the therapists don't know what they're doing. I have had some good therapists here, but honestly, if you go to this place 10 times, you might get 3 good massages and 7 mediocre ones....
To top it off, I was actually told by a receptionist that "If this keeps happening" (meaning if there's no tip for bad massages) that therapists will not work with you anymore. They subtly pressure customers into tipping. I have frequented massage places for many years, so I am able to compare this place to many others I have been to, and believe me, this is a place where the customer is LAST.
After I was told that "If this keeps happening", the therapists won't work with you, I left that place more stressed out than when I entered. I'm an honest person who believes in fairness, and that people should be tipped for doing a good service, but I don't enjoy being RIPPED OFF!!!! Why should someone be pressured into tipping even more for a mediocre massage? It's ridiculous!
As someone who receives massages frequently (once a week for the past few years), I would recommend finding a real massage place and paying 50 or 60 dollars (which is what you spend after a tip here anyway), and getting a better massage, and going to a place where the customer actually matters!! I will NEVER, ever, go here again!!!!!! Beware!!!!!!! This place is absolutely horrible!!!!!!

I was not very impressed with my experience. First of all, the room was SO cold... cold air was just blowing on me the whole time. I also repeatedly asked the massage lady to use firmer, stronger pressure and she failed to listen to me. It was just way too soft and not what I asked for.

I saw the bad reviews for this place, and made an account just to write my review. First of all, if you are looking for a pampering, aromatherapy, "snooty spa", this place is not for you. This place is inexpensive because there is no frou frou about it, which, I really liked. I was there to have a massage for stress relief, period. After reading reviews about it, I learned a little about the massage business. While the massage therapist is the one giving the massage, it is your responsibility to tell them what you want. Tell them if it hurts, or tell them if you want more pressure. They are not mind readers and you aren't going to hurt their feelings. I called in for my appointment, and told the receptionist what I was looking for. She then paired me with someone appropriate. Something else that I really liked about this place was that the therapist made a point to say to me to undress "to my comfort level". Now I have had massages at other places, and no one has ever said that. I was with a friend who had never had one before, and that really put her at ease.

Pros: Simple, to the point, no frou frou, Clean, great hours

I'm a total massage hound, so I'm always looking for a new shop to try. I've visited Massage Harmony a couple of times and really enjoyed it. It's fairly no-frills, with simple rooms and treatments; but it's still very relaxing and you get a great massage for the price. Therapists vary in skill and specialty (like anywhere else), so be sure to request someone who uses techniques you like best when making an appointment.

Pros: Great prices, very easy to schedule since multiple therapists are available, parking is always easy.

Cons: No "spa" services available (this is just a massage clinic, yes), soundproofing on rooms is somewhat lacking (a little noise from the front desk can filter back).

.

I had a very bad experience with Massage Harmony recently. The massage therapist simply did not listen. I wanted a deep tissue massage (and yes, I have gotten them before, I know what I am asking for). What I got was pressure point poking. After repeatedly telling the therapist what I wanted, he just kept telling me this was what I was asking for. Then he kept saying "relax," as if the verbal suggestion would accomplish what his hands were not. I felt like getting up in the middle of it and walking out, but I did not, as my friend was getting a massage in another room.

Had I known, I would have gotten us both out. She was getting a deep tissue massage as well, and her therapist barely touched her. She reports it was almost more of a tickling than a massage. Despite numerous requests for more pressure and deeper massage, the therapist simply did not comply. At the end, my friend complained to the management and got her money back.

I certainly won't paint this business with a broad brush and say it is awful, but without question, the experiences my friend and I shared were so far from acceptable, we will nver go back and will share our opinions with anyone who asks.

I've read a lot of reviews and find that the ones who are disappointed in the therapist they were given thinks that ALL the therapists at Massage Harmony are the same way. WRONG. There are quite a few therapists there that are awesome at deep tissue, prenatal and swedish massage. Might I add that you could go spend a lot more at a high end spa but you're likely to get just a swedish, the same at MH, not anything that is going to benefit you once you get out the door and into your car. The general public that walks through the MH door thinks Deep Tissue is nothing more than heavy pressure. It's a completely different technique. And therapists who know that at MH will tell you flat out. You haven't had a massage in the past month for at least three months? You shouldn't be getting a deep tissue because you are risking bruising, tissue tears and a week's worth of soreness that you didn't bargain for. So don't come and put your comments on this site generalizing the therapists at MH. More than half really do care about their clients, they have repeat clients and in no way shape or form did they gruel through school to be labeled a Walmart therapist or any other horrible thing you have to say just because you didn't communicate with your therapist or didn't tell the receptionist your massage stank when you checked out. If you have a problem, tell the therapist immediately and the receptionist. Don't wait until you are out the door. And by the way, tipping IS expected at MH simply because it's common decency. You tip your hair stylist, your waiter, your delivery persons.....? Therapists are no different and some people come in dirty, smelly, black feet that make the sheets black when they lay on them and therapists STILL put up with it because they know the client is there to feel better. And they will work on you, stinky and dirty and all. Although I think they should tell them to go home and take a shower first. MH is a good place to get massages.

Pros: price, caring therapists

Cons: headrest not the best for sinus pressurepionts

Let's start off with the massages. This place has the best collection of therapists. I've had many people here, and I have yet to have one disappointing massage. I highly recommend Leslie and Lihi, they are my absolute favorites, but it just depends on your preference of style of massage. Let the front desk know while booking what type or style of massage you like (strong vs. light touch, pressure point vs. longer strokes, etc), and they'll try their best to put you with the most appropriate therapist. I've had massages at other places and nothing even comes close to Massage Harmony.

I've received massages for twenty years, of all different modalities, so I know quality. I've had a couple of good massages here, but have decided not to return because most of them have lacked the basic elements you expect in a professional massage: communication (about pressure and other things), addressing your stated presenting issues, delivering the advertised modality, managing time and balance between sides, etc. It feels like Massage Harmony doesn't have a high or consistent bar in hiring therapists. There's nothing worse than looking forward to an effective, relaxing massage and getting mediocrity. For me, this increases my stress rather than relieving it. I wish they had a way to screen the bios of the therapists and other clients' reviews before choosing one.

Pros: Price, adequate facilities

Cons: Uneven quality

I experienced my first massage at Massage Harmony last week and was very happy with my experience. I was able to get an appointment the same day I called, which is important when you have a hectic schedule. The facility was clean and modern with an emphasis on warm earth tones. I was greeted promptly by the receptionist who spoke to me in hushed tones and helped me complete the paperwork. The entire atmosphere was calm and almost serene.

My masseuse, Natalie ,was pleasant and skillfully provided an hour and a half massage session which began gently and gradually worked deeper in to the stubborn knots that had brought me to her door. I was so pleased I pre-paid for a package of massages on my way out. Best of all, the prices are VERY reasonable at $64 for a 90 minute massage!

I will say that some of prior reviews of the business worried me, but I'm glad I gave them and chance and made up my own mind.

It seems as though Massage Harmony got off to a great start and fell fast. During a recent visit I made there I witnessed incompetent therapists and owner. The owner was yelling at employees it was ridiculous. With all due respect to the apparent success of his business, it would seem he could use some serious help in managing people. It is never acceptable to conduct yourself like that. While Massage Harmony may have some great attributes, it has a lot to work on.
I would agree with previous posts that on average the therapist are somewhat mediocre and the entire organization could use higher standards in everything they do.

I will not be visiting them again.

I purchased a gift certificate for my girlfriend and she was not very happy with the place (She is used to higher end places) and that (now) is to be expected. What you get is what you pay for but the customer service and response of management is poor if not downright unacceptable. I left messages with no return call. I spoke with several people who did not call me back when they said they would. I got tossed around by the owner when all I wanted was a refund on the remainder of the gift certificate and his story changed over and over to keep from giving money back. In their defense, they are a low-end volume type of massage place (like a chain haircut joint) and if you know that going in, they do a good job according to others I know.

I'm not a fan of massage business's because I believed only the newest-least experienced therapists worked at them. I have been getting massages for years and when a close friend recommended Nancy at Massage Harmony I called and scheduled. I went on a Sun Night and had an hour massage and was in stress-denial mode by the end of the massage when she covered my eyes with her hands and said thank you for coming in. I spent the next 4-5 days in pain free from a chronic condition with my legs. I scheduled last Sunday a 90 min massage last week and was limp, pain and stress free when I left. Don't believe "No pain no gain". Nancy's massage was luxurious and therapeutic at the same time. I cannot believe an MT of Nancy's caliber is working anywhere but a spa. I'm not a fan of the suggested tipping system at MH but for me it works well because I feel wonderful tipping a lady that obviously cares about her clients and was able to gently but therapeuticly relax my muscles and end my pain. I love the time during the massage but the relief the week after is priceless.

I am a student here in Austin, and lately I have been under a lot of stress due to the "end of semester rush". A friend told me about Massage Harmony, and I was very excited to hear that I could actually afford to get a massage to help me relax and de-stress before all of my finals. I called and made an appointment right away, and the receptionist helped me find the right therapist to best suit my needs. The massage I recieved was wonderful, my therapist asked me a lot of questions prior to the massage, and it felt like she knew exactly what I wanted and needed her to do. Even with a generous tip (which my therapist certainly deserved), I can still afford to return regularly. I highly reccommend Massage Harmony to anyone who wants to relax without having to worry about spending a fortune.

I get regular massage for low back pain. I wanted to try Massage Harmony because of their convienence and location near my house. I cleared an afternoon and went with a friend of mine to take advantage of their introduction special. Needless to say, the experiences that we had were very poor at best. We both wanted some very specific work and asked for deep tissue. We didn't recieve deep tissue. Both therapists and the staff responded like our request was no problem, but hard pressure does not equal deep tissue. My therapist did some stretches with me to help with my problem, but she did not satisfy any deeper layers of tissue. My friend told me that she felt worse after her massage than she did before she went in.

I called again recently to try and see who on their staff was available to do deep tissue work. I was told that only one person was available and she was booked up. I know that there must be good therapists that work at Massage Harmony but I don't want to spend a lot of money trying different therapists to find out.

Convienence and Affordability, yes. If you're willing to settle. Knowledgable and Skilled therapists, no. You're best to look elsewhere. I will spend 70$ for my health and go to real professional.

The price was low and I got what I paid for, but nothing more. I would be willing to pay more for a better massage and more attentive customer service. The atmosphere was nice, but I came there for a great massage not a great waiting room.

This is a great place to get a professional, reasonably priced massage. I have met two of the best therapist at this establishment and have always been treated with courtesy and respect. Based on what I have read in the office tipping is encouraged but certainly "not required." Like anything else if you are satisfied with your service you should tip generously. Tell the therapist what you want and I am sure you will not be disappointed. Show up on time, be courteous and respectful and you will be accorded the same treatment. A massage is a very personal experience and if you do not communicate with the therapist you have no room to arbitrarily complain because your "needs" were not met. Lets see can they read your mind?

I have a lot of trouble with my lower back and my quality of life has been improved because I found this establishment. Should I tell you the therapist name...nope as I want to keep her a secret.

Pros: Great value

Cons: None

Folks, over the last 10 years, I've experienced more than a dozen massage therapists and I must say that Jamie at Massage Harmony does an outstanding job. I'm a life-long swimmer and runner (and do construction work all day as well) and for the last three months, she's given me excellent massages to help with a variety of aches and pains. She gives better massages than others who charge double the rates that Massage Harmony charges. I highly recommend her services, especially if you are an athlete or need some deep tissue work. Delightful!

I will not go back to Massage Harmony! This was by far the worst massage I have ever paid for. It felt like my boyfriend was giving me a massage when he really wasnt wanting to. it did not feel like a professional massage at all. it was not relaxing at all, and that was what i wanted. i wanted to enjoy something for myself and give myself a little relaxation treat, but it was not at all. I think the lady who did my massage said her name was Jamie. she was not strong. so she didnt apply any pressure, and when she did it just really hurt! It felt like she was in a big hurry. She left the brights lights totally on, it was freezing in the room, and i could hear all the noisey pple outside the room! I am so mad i paid for it, and even left a generous tip! this massage was not worth $15!

I usually get massages at the high-end spas (don't we all) because I thought that was only place to go for a good legitimate massage. I was plesantly surprised to find the rates at Massage Harmony very reasonable. They don't have the frills of a high-end spa (robes, showers, ect), but if you're looking for a massage and can skip the rest, then this is a good choice. The quality of the massage was comperable. I felt very comfortable here.I felt the therapist was concerned with my problems and addressed them. Don?t let the prices fool you, these guys are professionals and know their stuff. I will be back for another massage.

UPDATE to the message below: The owner eventually responded to me e-mail message and very nicely asked me to come back for a free massage. This therapist was so good that I will amost certainly go back.

Massage Harmony has the best prices in town, and now I know why. My "massage" was an amateurish attempt to locate muscles and an inability to press on them with any force. The "practitioner" constantly asked me where to move and then was unable to follow simple instructions like "move left." The whole experience was frustrating and I left as tense as when I arrived. I have had a lot of therapteutic massage over many years, and this was actually the second worst ever (the dancing krishna massage in a Patagonian hut was actually worse, but expectations were lower).

I left a message for the manager three days ago and still have not had a response. This is obviously a low-quality establishment. You would do better with a 10 minute chair masssage from someone who knows what they are doing than with 60 minutes on Massage Harmony's tables. I gave it 1 out of 10 because the rooms were clean.

Wow this was a great experience! I was just driving by and saw the sign and dropped in and they saw me immediately. The therapist really knew their stuff and only $34 for my 60 minute massage. This place was very professional and the front desk staff was great as well. They helped me pick the best therapist for my needs. I will definitely be back!

Make sure you are savvy about tipping here and know what is expected. I understand now that there are signs at Massage Harmony encouraging tipping, but I didn't see them and apparently undertipped my massage therapist. I was later told by Massage Harmony that my tip amount was an insult, (which I certainly didn't mean to send) and when I went to schedule my next massage, the therapist had put a note in my file that she wouldn't work with me again because of my tip. I've had very good massages there, so, if you go, make a point to learn what is an appropriate tip amount, or else you might have the uncomfortable experience of getting refused service by a therapist. Again, the massages are good; it's just important to know the norm here.

I suffer from lower back problems and have had excellent results with the massages. The therapist was extremely knowledgable about the problem and the massage techniques for it. For the money spent, I can easily go there twice a month and get back relief rather than going to a hi-fi spa and spend a $100 and not get the same quality of service. Extremely friendly staff.

I really couln't believe it when I saw their website and their prices! When I scheduled my massage, they were running a special for their introductory massages for new customers. This place is completely amazing! You don't have to be a member, walk-ins are welcome, and the prices are INCREDIBLE! I've lived in much smaller towns than Austin that charge waaaay more than this place for an hour massage. All services are affordable and everyone is very nice and professional. Also, I was about 15 minutes early for my appointment, and was very surprised that after filling out my paperwork, I waited for about two minutes before my therapist came to greet me and take me back to the room. I will definitely be returning quite frequently to this amazing find in a town that can be very expensive!!!

Wow...there needs to be more places like Massage Harmony. So convenient and next to all the stores I go to at the West Gate Shopping Center. My therapist was very knowledgeable and friendly and the staff was great in helping me pick the best one for my needs.

Kudos to Massage Harmony! Great Customer Service. Low Price. Quality Massage. Relaxing Interior. We can't say enough great things about this place.

My wife and I have been going to Massage Harmony twice a month for three months now and we couldn't be happier. My wife's headaches are gone and my chronic low back pains have disappeared. The helpful staff and the quality of the services can't be beat. We used to go to the "resorts" in town but their staff is of no greater quality and we have some of the same therapist working on us at Massage Harmony. We didn't see a reason to pay 5 times the amount for the same work.
Ask for Leslie, Carol or Iris. They are truly gifted healers.
Update 12/13 my wife and I still love this place.

Stephanie is great here; she gave me a wonderful Swedish massage and the prices are lowest in Austin for the great service and relaxing atmosphere. Why go to every other place that will charge at least $65-$75 for an hour, when Massage Harmony has $44! And your first one is $34! This is a great place - everyone is friendly and professional and the hours are great. People should start coming here instead to put expensive spas in thier place; it is possible to run a profitable business and treat the employees and customers fairly like Massage Harmony.

I just got my very first massage ever and it was wonderful. It was so affordable that I didn't feel guilty splurging. The place was very spa like and tranquil and my massage therapist made me feel so comfortable. The whole process--from booking to paying was so simple and stress free. I will be back at massage Harmony very soon, and would recommend it to anyone who needs to relax.

I love getting massages but don't get them as often as I would like because I can't afford spending $100+ each month on pampering myself. I found Massage Harmony and was very impressed with the quality of the treatment I received for such an affordable price. If you are looking for a great massage for a reasonable price, this is the place!
