I have been a member of Bodyplex for five years. The staff is awesome and so friendly. The gym is always clean and it is apparent that the management and staff really care about the facility. There is plenty of equipment and I really like being able to use their boxing area. I would recommend Bodyplex to anyone!

If you want to join a gym where you are bothered by 5 million phone calls/emails per week, harassed by trainers who breathe down your neck while you're working out, and bombarded by employees trying to get you to spend more money, then DON'T join Bodyplex. Seriously, the thing that is so awesome about Bodyplex is that the employees LEAVE YOU ALONE. They understand that you are there to exercise and after you check in, you are free to do so, uninterrupted. I'm the kind of person who likes to go to the gym, crank out some miles on the treadmill/elliptical, maybe some reps on the weight-training machines, and then leave. I don't want to be harassed or patronized by overly buff, spray-tanned creepy trainers who are just trying to empty my wallet as much as possible at all times (cough cough THE OMNI). I tried out many gyms over the course of a week and my choice to join Bodyplex was a no-brainer- I've been a member for almost 2 years! The staff is very friendly but they do a great job of staying out of your way, which I really like. If you're just looking to work out in a calming environment with nice equipment at a fair price, then you should definitely check out Bodyplex!

I am not a person to point fingers or bring up unnecessary complaints, but on this occasion I think it necessary. One of the workers at BodyPlex West (a young girl with brown hair - i think wears red glasses sometimes - and works at the front) has just rubbed me the wrong way. She is not pleasant and comes off unfriendly. Not to mention when I used the 15 min tanning bed, she never asked me how long I wanted to go in. So I had to get her attention and tell her I wanted to go in for 8 minutes. However, she never changed it and left it on for 15 min. I realized it was going on for too long and just got out, burnt nonetheless. Needless to say I don't think they want their members feeling this way, and I surely am not going to renew my membership. This is a big disappointment too because I have loved all of the other employees. A big reason I came here from Omni was to not be hounded or disrespected by the employers. I am not impressed.

Beware of contract manipulation at this Alps Rd Bodyplex! My son signed a 1-year contract toward the end of his junior year at UGA, and through near the end of his senior year. He wanted to extend his contract at Bodyplex, and discussed this with the manager or asst. manager there, and they allowed him to keep the monthly rate, but sign an extension on his contract requiring him to give 30 days notice. When he was at the beginning of the last month, he mentioned to the rep at the desk that it was his last month. The guy told him 'no problem' (while checking him in; i.e., my son assumed he was documenting it). About 10 months afterwards, my son gets a notice from a collection agency with a law firm from NC indicating he had to pay over $120 or else collection proceedings would begin. I called the number and learned it was Bodyplex behind all this (the letter did not indicate!) They cited the provision to give WRITTEN 30-day notice. My son missed that detail. STILL, the Bodyplex employee should NOT have said "no problem", but said "We MUST have your 30-day notice IN WRITING!!!". They gave NO break to my son despite these details. I will be putting in a negative on the Better Business Bureau website for this outfit as well. They are NOT FIT for YOUR business!

These people are dishonest and misleading. They will try to sign you up for a year commitment for personal training under the pretense that you can cancel within the first 7 days if you are not satisfied. Good luck with that, try to

I would also give zero stars if I could. What a HORRIBLE gym! I was walking on a treadmill by my husband on the co-ed side when staff member started cleaning the machines in front of me, it was nearly 2 hours before closing time.. Me, being 3 months pregnant and now inhaling cleaner had to stop in the middle of my 5 mile for this. Not to mention I've been yelled at in front of other customers by a manager for leaving my truck hitch out. Who does that? My trainer was a jerk too. I hate that place and will NEVER recommend it.

I had to give it one star b/c it made, or else I would have scored it as zero. I think you should shop around before you sign-up here. I have been dissappointed over and over again with BodyPlex, mostly with management and with ABC Financial, the third-party you must go through to handle your account. It's been a big hassle, more than once. I've had three encounters with more money being taken out and nothing seems to have been done. The facility is okay, but go somewhere and pay the same amount and not deal with their money scams. Oh, just FYI, cars get broken into at their parking lot. Sketch...
Please email me and I'll answer any questions you have about BodyPlex. I wish I would have talked to someone before I signed my monies away to them....julz42@gmail.com

Just moved into town. I used to be a member of a hole in the wall gym so BodyPlex is a major upgrade. Price is a little more than what I used to pay but def worth it. Checked out other clubs after looking at the reviews and the other clubs were more expensive. Not sure what the other guy was talking about the omni being cheaper. They were actually more expensive.

I just moved to Athens and called around for rates. At bodyplex they told me it was $50 a month, for month to month and an additional $40 processing fee. Seems pretty high to me. I called Omni and they told me $40 a month and no contract. Plus Omni has the kickboxing class I'm looking for.

PLEASE go and use a pass here before you join elsewhere. I came to check out the club last week on a Sunday with my boyfriend. The college kid at the desk grunted at us to "sign here" and "go ahead and look around". No one asked us about what we were looking for, what our needs were or anything else. After we were done "showing ourselves around" the kid told us they were the cheapest gym in town at $19.95/month and asked us to join on a 3 year contract. We said "No Thanks" and joined elsewhere. Based on the facility and the service, if they were that bad on our first day imagine after a couple of years, they should be the cheapest gym in town. You get what you pay for.

I've been a Bodyplex member since 2005 and I've gotten into the best shape of my life using their facilities. I was an NCAA student athlete and even the University's facilities were not as good. The Cybex and Free Motion machines are the most effective machines I have used, and the wide range of cardio equipment (eliptical, stationary bikes, treadmills, etc..) have really made a difference for me. I've spent the last 19 months doing complex Mixed Martial Arts workouts and Bodyplex has all the equipment I need, I can everything done in one visit. The knowledgeable staff are always a help, and keep the place looking great. It's a great deal for the monthly rate.

I just moved to Athens in August and needed a gym to use after I realized it was almost impossible to get a workout in at the Ramsey Center. I compared Y, Omni Club and BodyPlex and I ultimately ended up joining Bodyplex. I found Bodyplex's staff to be the most welcoming, friendly and inviting people out of the 3. I took a pass from all 3 before deciding and I just found Bodyplex to be non-intimidating and there was no harrassing phone calls from sales people.

Money is not an issue, but for the price I am paying I feel I should being paying much more for such a place. I have had three of my friends join after I did and they love it too!! None of these other reviews would ever had scared me away after just stepping inside Bodyplex:)

After reading reviews i decided to check out the club myself. I tried out the club on a trial. I also tried out the omni club. After trying out both clubs I decided to join the BodyPlex. BodyPlex was more friendly and definately not dirty. I am not sure where they other reviews got it was dirty. There was also one broken treadmill which I asked about and according to them they are waiting on the repair company to fix it. I guess some people expect them to fix it themselves? I also asked about the ownership change. According to the manager, the owner picked up 2 more partners so he could expand to other cities. I am pretty sure they are not "running away" considering they just got new individual LCD tvs for the cardio machines. I dont see why they would spend money into the club if they were planning on leaving.

The Omni club was also nice. It had lots of equipment and plenty of classes, but the environment was completely different than BodyPlex. BodyPlex just felt more friendly and the prices are definately cheaper than the Omni. BodyPlex was around $35-$40/mo unless you want to pay a bigger fee to get the $20/mo. Omni was around $55-60/mo. Omni is nice but its not that nice and parking is crazy. I dont like spending 10 min trying to find a parking space.

Anyway, BodyPlex is perfect for me and what I am looking for.

Bodyplex is a nice place to work out, and has nice relatively new machines, and a decent selection of aerobics classes. After trying both out a couple of times, I ended up joining Omni, which is around the corner. Bodyplex didn't offer me a better membership deal, and for the same price, Omni has so many more machines, classes, and other amenities like steam room, sauna, lots of nice showers, massage chairs, etc.
