Fernbank museum is very exciting, mostly thier science center. The movies played at Imax at fernbank are incredible, the screens are large with the best surround sound.

This theater is about half the size of the megaplex, which really pushes the size of Imax. Being inside an amazing museum really finishes off the piece. It is just outside downtown Decatur.

A great experience

I've seen a couple different films here at the IMAX, and it's quite an experience! You wouldn't believe how huge the screen is. The best kind of films to see here are the ones that are breathtaking in their scenery... The only drawback is that you can get dizzy if you're sensitive, but they tell you ahead of time that you should just look away from the screen and close your eyes. I recommend getting a seat towards the back, because it's pretty much impossible to see most of the screen if you're in the front half of the seating area.

This place has been the same forever. If you've been once you've been a thousand and one times. If you have young children who haven't been this is a great place. The nature trail is great. Make sure you bring water for this adventure. They really need to up grade.

This museum offers an educational experience to children and even adults. The showcase is on dinosaurs, but they also have areas for toddler play, interesting science stuff, and understanding other cultures. It is much smaller than the Museum of Natural History in New York or Washington,DC.

We're really amazed when we first visited this museum. They have got so much to see and learn from. We love to bring our son and nephews and nieces there whenever they come to visit Atlanta. All the children love this place. The museum offers great educational programs for children, an excellent choice for family outing as well. A great place to visit for those who love anything and everything about dinosaurs. Host special events from time to time. Martinis and IMAX also available. You can even host a kid's birthday party there. Highly recommended to everyone.

The Fernbank Science center is a very fascinating place to visit for both children and adults. They have many exhibits that you will not see other places. They also offer field trips for school age children, and can teach about a variety of different science subjects. I love the hands on area where children can use a variety of science materials, and the kids love it too!

This is such a neat place, in a really cool part of Atlanta. Whether you want to take a group of children on a field trip or go on a date on a Friday night- there is something for everyone. The lobby holds a huge skeleton of a dinosaur and it really makes an awesome statement when you walk in. I have visited this museum several times for Martinis and I-MAX- so cool! Great date- get a martini, watch a cool IMAX movie and then hit a restaurant- very unique! Located down by Emory, it is a great date place. They host special events here as well- would be a unique setting for a wedding or corporate party. Check this place out- You will be happy you did!

This is a beautiful place to have a wedding if you just don't mind all the history that is surrounding you. They do a great job decorating the place, and make it unique to your wedding or any other event that you want to have hear. They also do these great martini and movie nights.

My children have taken several field trips here. I have, on a coupple of occasions, went along. It is very enjoyable, and something the entire family truely can do together. Our favorite is the nature walk. It gives all of the beuty, none of the stress. Very peaceful, even the kids were quiet. Now THATS saying something!

You can see the skeleton of the biggest dinosaur discovered here. There are lots of exhibits that teach you about natural history. They have discovery rooms, the Fantasy Forest, an IMAX Theatre star gallery, really neat fossil floors and they even recreated the Okefenokee Swamp. My mom likes the pretty rose garden, too.

Fernbank, besides being a great museum (with dinos) for the kids and adults also has IMAX! They have multiple stories and tons of exhibit rooms. The volunteers and staff are very happy to help and show you EVERYTHING! They have ample parking in the front of the Museum and cool programs for kids. The best thing though is the programs for adults like Martinis and Imax movies on teh same night - a pretty cheap date and a really good time!! The IMAX movies are not always the most interesting (The wolf one was not a fav of mine) but they are always fun!

I take my nephews here all the time and they love it. It is 3 stories of dinosaur bones and exhibits. There is a play room for the kids and the science room which has the bubble blowers. They even have the IMAX theaters which I have yet to experience since the kids are always so busy with everything else. Try to go when they have live demonstrations because you will not be disappointed and try some of the food at the on site cafe, Felini's you will love it. The best part is that this place is never packed with people and it is very cheap at around $10 a ticket - well worth it.

ARABIA IMAX title is very misleading. I thought I was going to experience the ancient tombs, lost cities and beauty of the desert. It was a push on the Muslim faith and their journey to Mecca. The agenda here is to promote the Islamic beliefs. If we were promoting the Christian faith everyone would be forcing the movie to be shut down. The Christian and Jewish community should be appalled over this film.

My family and I enjoyed the day at the museum, the exhibition is always changing.

The children enjoyed seeing the Dinosaurs and the Children's Interactive room. I enjoyed seeing the fish and shells display. We all had a ball learning about the Arctic and Antarctica along with the Polar Bears and the Penguins.

Pros: Something for all ages

great place.... the sight and sound museum was wonderful... i have not been since the 6th grade but i i still remember.

Sorry to say I have to agree with earlier posters who expect to see a world class history museum and are entirely let down after paying the enterence fee. Yes, the Fernbank boasts a beautifully natural setting. What it does not offer is any type of insightful or intriguing displays, nothing to really draw a visitor in to the vast learning experience that should be offered here. If it were a free museum, I'd call it a draw and enjoy the nice drive up the winding hill and beautiful scenery on the grounds. But it's not and the curator here should really examine what he or she is trying to do.

Pros: spectacular setting

Cons: overall, a real let down

I love Martinis & IMAX & had to write a review after seeing the fantastic grand canyon one. Martinis & Imax is a perfect date night- especially with the live music & cocktails before the show. I?ve been several times since moving to Atlanta and it's one of my top favorite activities in the city.

I actually just attended a beautiful wedding at Fernbank- who knew Fernbank was an ideal location for a wedding ceremony and reception?! The wedding was at the front of the museum overlooking the front lawn, and the reception was in the huge foyer which was perfect for the band & food setup- the bride & groom entered the reception down the gorgeous winding staircase. The band had a perfect setup towards the back of the foyer. I highly recommend Fernbank to any bride-to-be looking for an awesome place to have the wedding & reception.

Pros: Great event facility & museum

Cons: Wish Martinis & Imax was on Saturdays too

this is a very unfortunate representation of a natural history museum. were are the exhibits? one very large dinosaur skeleton and that about raps up your visit. I am disturbed by the lack of artifacts and exhibits especially after having grown up with natural history museums found in Chicago and Cleveland to base a comparison on. is it lack of funding that prevented this from being a world class natural history museum? I say atlanta should really be able to command better.

Pros: beautiful building

Cons: lack of exhibits, attractions, over priced

I recently went here on a date night. The martinis and live music were great! The Imax theater after a few cocktails is a fun experience. I recommend it to anyone to give it a try.

I went to a wedding and this place was incredible. There is so much to look at and see here. This place can also be romantic if you have wine before IMAX. I highly recommend taking kids here also.

Pros: everything, wine, exhibits, staff,

Cons: nothing

I have to admit that my wife made me go to the museum and I thought it would be awful! When we got there she made us become members of the museum so we would have free admission and other perks the next time we visited the museum. Much to my surprise it was pretty cool and the kids really enjoyed theirselves as they learned about history and nature. The membership has more than paid for it's self since we have been 3 times this year. The events are really nice and I would recommend the Imax movies.

Pros: Great events and fun for the whole family

Cons: None

My son is now 18 years old and we still enjoy going to Fernbank and the IMAX theatre. We've been patroning the museum for most of his life and we always top it off with a trip to Felini's afterwards for the city's best pizza. We call it "Fernbank and Felini's". I have also enjoyed Martinis and IMAX with my life companion. Fernbank is truly a great pick for all ages and for first dates.

Cons: outside of town

Love the Fernbank -- the permanent collection, the peaceful surrounding, the "escape" element for children & adults, the events. It is a fabulous center for our city..
