I had an absolutely great experience at this hospital. I was sent to the hospital emergency by my doctor's group, and I was in great pain. They quickly started taking care of me. I was then sent to ICU where they were wonderful. After 3 days, I was sent to a regular room to be monitored. All the nurses were angels, and I was there for 17 days. They got me stable to go home so I could heal and get strong enough for surgery. About 3 weeks later, I had surgery, and was in for a week, and again...had a great experience. Hopefully, I will not need them again; but wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

My aunt was admitted to Northeast Medical Center for an emergency surgery. She spent three days in ICUII and was then transferred to the surgical unit on the fourth floor. Paulette Cade was her nurse on her first full day out of ICUII. She was entrusted with my aunt's care. My aunt was to have been closely monitored. About mid morning Ms. Cade got my aunt up to walk her for the first time since her procedure. After that my aunt began to feel nausea and had abdominal and chest pain. She was given nausea meds. Her pain got worse and sweat began to pour from her body. Ms. Cade gave us towels while she filed her 4" finger nails. She was screaming in pain while Ms. Cade was sitting right outside her door chatting on the phone. While she hung over the side of her bed and begged for death Ms. Cade suggested she use her PCA button. During her eight hour shift Ms. Cade showed no urgency whatsoever in addressing the catatrosphic event that was unfolding right before her eyes. The second shift nurse, seeing that she had just walked up on a train wreck, immediately called a stat team from the ICU. It was too late. Within a very short period after her shift started my aunt went into respiratory failure and had a cardiac arrest and never regained consciousness. My aunt was to have been discharged on September 1, 2007. She died on September 15, 2007 after two hellish weeks of life support. As for the rating they haven't invented the word yet to rate Paulette Cade. The worst words I could think of just aren't adequate. I know one thing I wouldn't let her vaccinate my dog.

I think it all depends what part of this hospital you are in as to what kind of experience you will have. I was in ICU for about 2-3 days and those people where great, but once I got moved to a regular room it wasn't that good. When I was there and had my 2nd son it was pretty good. The nurses where nice and friendly. The ER there is never anything to say good about that place. If you get sent on FastTrack then you mind as well just leave b/c the dr. do not care what is wrong they just want you out of there.
