My kids love this place. The areas for the animals is not as confined as the cages they were in when I was a kid. For many years I refused to go to the zoo because I didn't like to see those large animals in those tiny cages. I was pleased to find that things have changed. We are now considering a family membership.

We love the zoo! SInce the zoo has made the renovations to the animal habitats its a much nicer place to visit as the animals look happy and healthy. The kids love the zoo and the staff is very friendly and willing to answer questions

I have always loved the zoo. I think it is one of the best places you can go if you are looking for something to do that is fun for the entire family.

What a trip! The zoo is a great place especially for the kids!
The habitats for the animals were amazing. We even got to watch the animals being fed. Make sure you check the feeding times.

the zoo is always great for kids, or even if you're not a kid, it makes you feel like one. It is spacious and well organized so that you can see all the animals. There are also a lot of kid oriented things. The smell can sometimes be irritating, but it's a zoo, what do you expect. It's a lot of fun, perfect for a day outing and the price isn't too outrageous either.

I recently moved to Atlanta and my first stop was Zoo Atlanta. I am so happy I took time out to visit the animals and made it a fun day!
Everyone must take a day off from work, home, etc and just enjoy the animals that will definitely put a smile on your face.
Pros: Pandas
We are really glad we became a Zoo Atlanta member years ago. It's a great activity for our 6 year son on the weekends. He never gets tired of seeing the animals. I would also strongly encourage the membership, especially if you live in the area. Having the membership also allows us to take additonal family, friends or play date buddies. We also love the Zoo's summer camp. It's a little pricey but again our son always enjoys that week or two interacting with the animals and the Zoo Camp Team. Because we are close, we often will go over during the spring and summer and just play on the playground and ride the train.
Pros: Worth a membership!
Cons: none
It becomes more fun every year! The pandas are the cutest ever and I love how involved they encourage Atlanta to be in preserving wildlife :)
Pros: Who can beat zoo atlanta?
It's always a treat to visit the Atlanta Zoo. My 4 year old would rather visit the zoo than eat ice cream for breakfast.
Pros: Monkeys, Monkeys, Monkeys
Zoo Atlanta is a very nice family attraction, for the family but the cost to kid in and food prices our outrageous.
Pros: Great exhibit,nice petting zoo.
Cons: costly food and tickets
The Atlanta Zoo is a great place to go. It is good for children of ages 12& under. You get to see many unique animals that you may not see just anywhere. So try it!!!!!
Pros: short lines
Cons: fun in the sun
The Zoo is pretty nice...variety of different animals and themes. However I thought that it was a little pricey for children. I took my 3yr old son and they charged me like 12 bucks. Gee thanx for making me want a return visit.
It's kind of difficult to imagine a zoo in a city like Atlanta for me, but my friend wanted to check this place out so I went along. had a ok time...nothing like the zoo in ny...
What an incredible place to visit and see many of the wild animals that are usually only found on T.V. My favorite attraction is the panda bear. This is perhaps, one of the rarest of all animals at the zoo (a must see). If you can handle the smell while walking around it's a great place for kids and any pure animal lover.
I always have a good time when I go to Zoo Atlanta. The reptile exhibit is the best. A lot of snakes. Up close encounters with the animals in viewing rooms. The monkeys are fun.
Pros: Clean, next door to Civil War Museum,Great variety of animals, snake exhibit
Cons: Atlanta traffic,food/eating options
If you need a place to take your out of town guest for the day, then Zoo Atlanta is the place to go. The fact that it's small compared to other zoos in Miami or Detroit makes it more enjoyable because of the closeness to the animal exhibits. The Gorillas are very entertaining and the antics of the Elephants can keep you lingering at the exhibit. The staff is not as visible as they should be, but when needed they are very helpful & informative. If you see nothing else you must visit the Panda exhibit, but remember to do it early, between 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM when they feed-you won't be disappointed. I would recommend that you bring some snacks or food as the in park food is pricey. For an enjoyable day out with the family, out of town guests or just by yourself, treat yourself and them to Zoo Atlanta.
Pros: Clean and large exhibits,Excellent petting zoo,
Cons: Pricey tickets and Food
We took our two preschoolers over Memorial Day Weekend. The crowds weren't horrible, but getting good views of the animals was difficult at times. We found the park somewhat difficult to navigate, and poor signage and the lack of available staff didn't help. The natural habitats made it tough to see the animals, and the park really did look run down. To me, the highlights of the zoo were the gorillas and the reptile displays. Being an Atlanta native, I found my first trip back to the zoo in over 30 years to be disappointing.
Pros: Ticket Prices
Cons: Animal Views, Staffing
I go often, having a membership. Never disappointed. This is a fairly small zoo compared to other cities (such as Miami in my hometown). But there are great exhibits here. Gorillas are wonderful. Elephants are also great. The Pandas alone make the trip worthwhile.
Staff and volunteers very helpful and knowledgeable.
Pros: Gorillas, Elephants, Panda Bears
I found the zoo to be overpriced ($70 for a family of 5) and the attractions were only marginal. Compared with similar zoos in St. Louis and Indianapolis, I would not recommend spending entertainment $$ on the Atlanta zoo.
Pros: pandas, primates, retile house
Cons: high cost, petting zoo, children play area
Nice to walk around, but most of the time too crowded to really see the animals. Also, way too pricey!
This is one of the best zoos in the nation, as far as I'm concerned. The gorilla habitat is excellent and my family spent about 45 minutes there alone. We loved the pandas and the reptile house is always fun, too.
When I babysit, a great place to take kids is Zoo Atlanta. What kid doesn't love a Zoo? Other than the normal Atlanta heat, it's an awesome place. It's clean, kid friendly, has great service, and a huge assortment of animals.
I recently went to the zoo and was a little surprised at how worn it looks. The zoo needs our help, maybe you or an organization that you belong to could adopt an animal. Contact the zoo for information. Price ranges vary depending on the animal (of course) so even if you don't have very much you could adopt a rabbit or snake! Let's keep our city zoo a place to be proud of!
Kinda pricey for a smaller zoo. Also, DO NOT plan on taking MARTA bus there. Not very reliable and service is sporatic at best. We waited for about 45-50 mins for a bus that was supposed to run every 30. Good for families and there is a nice park behind it. McDonald's there too was good.
Pros: Good for family
Cons: A bit Pricey
So Zoo Atlanta isn't the San Diego Zoo or the Cincinnati Zoo or the Audubon Zoo, but the 4 year-old and 2-year-old I recently took to the zoo couldn't have cared less. Its smaller size matches the short-attention spans of kids and zoo weary adults. The reptile house could use a serious renovation, but the rest of the zoo was clean and the animals appeared to be well taken care of.
