Costco is great until you get slowed down by the parents who think their kids should get free stuff.

Rude Manager with No idea of How to treat a customer. Huntsville, AL. I have been a member of Costco since they opened in Huntsville, and up to a recent experience things have been great. On our usual weekly shopping trip, one of the first things we do is to stop by the bakery and get the kids a cookie. Let me add, this is one of the highlights of our trip for them. The bakery team are always cheerful and great with the kids and the adults. On this visit my two year old couldn't wait to go to Costco and our seven year old will tolerate shopping with the thought of what cookies are available on arrival. When we got up to the counter the associate told us he couldn't open any more cookies and thus started the downward spiral. My son ask if he could please have a cookie and again we were told with regret he was unable to oblige. I was directed to the manager that decided to enforce this policy, who happened to be about 10 feet away. I went up and introduced myself to him and he just seemed bothered by my interrupting his conversation. I explained our ritual, and the situation, and was answered by him saying," Would I like him to open one of each thing in the department for my kids to eat?" My son is crying at this point, my daughter is asking her mother why a cookie was such a problem. To say the least we were shocked at the response and such attitude in front of our kids and other customers. He could have simply offered the cookies and explained the change of procedure for future visits. I have found out since then he has implemented many more uncalled for polices for the good of the store, not the costumers. I asked for a name and number to his regional. They stood by him saying his actions were not the best approach, but was not out of order. I think others need to be aware of the lack of respect and downward spiral of customer service since this General Manager has taken over. I did tell him he was going to loose my business over a $6.00 box of cookies. He was not concerned. I did leave my full basket with him and let him know SAMs always has a cookie available for my kids.

I've found the service at the Huntsville Costco to be excellent--with the exception of the Tire Center. When you finally get the service done, they have always done it right--but their is a time impact you need to consider. If you go into the main store to complain about the lack of prompt service, you'll be told that they have no control over the Tire Center. About a year ago I arrived an hour before closing to have my Costco-purchased tires rotated. Two of the bays were empty, with one employee sweeping up. I was told that they didn't take any new work within 90 minutes of closing, since they didn't keep cars overnight. This is unacceptable, and not showing true customer care. I don't know if they need to hire more workers, or need new management. Also, you must schedule service a week in advance, or be prepared to wait 2-3 hours for service (depending on the time of day, of course). I'm sure the long waits are beneficial for the Main store, but I don't think you'd want frustrated customers walking your aisles waiting for their car to be released from confinement. I'm taking my tire service needs to another local tire store that will has rotated my tires within 15 minutes of my arrival, with NO appointment.

My wife and I have been members of Costco for about three years. We were discussing the other night that we've never had a bad shopping experience at this Costco. The personnel are very helpful and pleasant to deal with. The in-house Kirkland brand is very fine quality, and the prices are low! The store is always spotless, the produce is fresh, and the pharmacy has the lowest prices and best service in town.

We used to shop at the other warehouse store in town, but it was usually dirty, and the personnel had a real attitude if you could ever find a staff member. Costco is like day and night by contrast. We actually enjoy shopping again.
