The guy who owns this dump, Joseph, is a pathological liar. Over the phone he gave me an estimate of $50 to check out a problem with my lawn tractor, then said it would be $50 maybe $100 when I hauled it over to his shop in Seagoville. He told me he would get to it a in a week to ten days. After four days I called to get a status report on when he would be looking at it. Incredibly, they had already taken apart the transmission and reassembled it to determine that I needed a new one. (There really is no transmission, just a differential on this MTD Shift-and-go unit) It was now going to cost me $150 just to come and pick it up without any further work being done (not to mention the storage fee that would begin immediately if I could not make a decision). When I asked him why no one had called me to alert me regarding the activities and prognosis, he told me he was just about to do that and in fact had my ticket in his hand as we spoke. Right.

I promptly went there to assess the situation. I discovered that the unit had barely been touched much less the tranny disassembled. Dried grass was still stuck along the seal separating the bottom casing and the top casing of the transmission/differential. A guy nearby mentioned that he had been the one to look at my mower. He said he checked the linkage and, when he saw no problem there, determined that it needed a new transmission. Joseph quickly entered the conversation, hushed his ??technician,? and said he would take it from there. Lie after lie ensued at which point I realized I had made a costly mistake by giving a local shade tree repair shop my business. This thief would not even so much as let me start up and check out my own lawn mower there on his lot. I paid his ransom of $150 and took my mower out of there. I??m not happy about losing $150, but I??m even more distressed that it ended up in the pocket of this crook. No telling how many folks he has bamboozled with faulty repair scams.
