I gave these people my money to get me out of debt and all they did was put me in debt more than I already was and ruined my credit worse than it already was. After 6 months of paying them, I finally answered the phone when one of my creditors called and I explained the program to them. They informed me that the only person they would talk to about my debt was ththe card holder. They then recommended contacting the Better Business Bureau and report them. I did and they sent a letter to Debt Remedy to reach a settlement. They wrote back and told them I had signed a contract with them and it was my fault that they weren't doing anything. They told the BBB that they would give me $275 and stop the rest of the automatic payments. I had one payment left. That was 2 years ago. I am still waiting for my refund. Before I contacted these crooks my credit wasn't perfect. I did have a couple of late payments. However, my credit score was still good. Now I am playing catch up and I have horrible credit. The main reason I blame it on them is because they told me in order to get my debts down that I should stop paying on my credit cards and don't answer the phone when my creditors called. These people take advantage of hard working citizens. I have kept all of my paperwork from this feasko so that if a law suit ever comes up against them. I have something to back me up. Thanks for nothing! DO NOT DEAL WITH This COMPANY Of CROOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, My wife and I have been with DRS now for some two years, and yes they are expensive, and there were times when we thought that they totally blew us off, and wondering if they would ever come through on their agreements with us. However, they have helped us over the years in controlling our creditors so that we could come up with the money to pay off our debt. We had only one bad experience with an account rep, but after complaining to the lawyer for DRS, he had reassigned us to another rep who has been very good to us. Our debt will be paid off this coming March/April and we are thankful for the break that they had provided us.

Do not use this company. I have given them over $4,000 and have seen little results. I eventually just gave up and am settling my own debts. They make a lot of promises that they do not keep. One of my accounts went into collections and sued me. The company did nothing to help me. I ended up having my wages garnished for 2 years. Learn all you can about the laws in your state. Call the credit card companies yourself and explain your problem and what you can do to pay the debt back. Get a second job, just don't enroll in a company like Debt Remedy Solutions.

A representative from Debt Remedy Solutions just called my home and when he said he could get my business mortgage down to $500 I said Ha ha . . . As in No Way . . . He then turned his yankee Florida on and started screaming "You're five months behind, so quit going to our website. Ha ha the joke's on you. I hope you get foreclosed on." I honestly could not believe someone could be so rude! They must be under great pressure to get new clients.

I enrolled with DRS in June of 2007. My total fees to the company were $2,100.00. The total of debt i enrolled with was approx. $15,000. I successfully paid off two cards so far. Leaving three more to pay off. I am very happy with the program. They call monthly to check up on you, verifying that you are continuing to save as planned and to keep you updated with any new settlement offers from the companies involved with what you owe. If they cant reach you by phone, they mail you a letter asking you to call. They are very understanding that sometimes you cant answer your phone due to work schedule or what have you. I would recommend them to friends, they have good customer service. I now am aware that i could have done the same thing without a debt company because if you dont pay your cards, it eventually gets sold to a company and you can still do settlements. I guess i would have to say it was nice to have DRS to represent me when dealing with these debts.

Fees are usually 15% of the total debt. If you owe 20,000 the fee is 3,000. This is the total fee to help you get out of debt in 3 years. Not annual fee.
Credit cards charge an average of 19% annually. 19% of 20,000 is already 3,800/year. If you are paying the min. payments only, it will take you at least let's just say 10 years. In just 3 years, you have paid the credit card companies 11,400 in interest!!!!!!!
Debt Settlement is not for everybody. This program is designed to help people avoid bankruptcy, and also help people into getting out of the treadmill. If you are able to make at least double your minimum payments and get out of debt in a reasonable time (3-5 years) then you obviously don't need help.
There are a lot of bad debt settlement companies that people have to worry about that just try to "sell" people into the program.
Facts about debt settlement:
- Creditors in most cases will only settle debt in lump sum payouts. If you do not have access to a lump sum, you will need to enroll in a savings program.
-You may get sued. This all depends on the situation you're in. The bottom line is, if you have nothing to lose, you have nothing to worry about. If you have assets such as equity on home that can pay off the debt, you do not need debt settlement. If you are again a high income earner and can get out debt in a reasonable time, you do not need debt settlement.
-- It will have an impact on your credit by missing payments. If you are still up to date and enroll in a debt settlement program, you have to make the decision to fall behind. Your credit score will then decrease for missed payments. The only way to improve your score is by completing the program and obtaining new credit. Your beacon score is only calculated based on the accounts still open. Once the debts are settled and closed, they are not used to calculate your beacon score. Your new credit will only be used. As long as that's in good standing, you will improve your beacon score.
-- Debt Settlement is a negotiation process. It takes time. You will not know what type of savings you will get until it happens. Ask about their track records to see the average settlement they can get. Settlements can be anywhere between 30-60 cents on a dollar.
-- Interest and fees will not stop. However, the total interest accumulated will be negotiated down as part of the settlement.
-- You can not stop calls from your primary creditors. Third parties however can be stopped as part of the collection agency act.

Stop before you read the next "review" there is no way this is a customer, this is exactly what they say in their commercials, hence this might just be an employee trying to pump the business. Here is how they work....They will tell you to have money withdrawn from your account and placed into one of theirs. This is done with extremely high fees. They will tell you that calls from creditors will stop. Not true. They will then try to call your creditors after one year and say here is a lump sum payment. BUT wait remember they took out a huge part of your money for fees. Come end of day if you are in that bad of shape call an attorney and file for bankruptcy. Here is also a story from MSNBC to validate what I am saying. http://redtape.msnbc.com/2009/06/debt-settlement-firms-under-fire.html

Unlike this other individual, I recall when I signed up with them that I would have to save the money BEFORE any negotiations took place. ALL my creditors are aware that I am actively trying to do just that and when the time is right, I will be able to eliminate my debt much faster and much cheaper than I could have ever done myself. This has been the best thing I could have done for myself and my family. All I was doing was making minimum payments, but now I can put that money to better use, and still get out of debt for less than I was paying before. It is simply common sense math. I could not justify spending money with no impact of the reduction of my debt - it would NEVER be over - unless I did something different.

I have been "with" this organization since 2/1/08; so far, they have taken roughly $800 from me and negiotiated absolutely nothing. I have called, e-mailed, and been re-assured that they will be negotiating "soon" with my creditors, but as of today, 8/31/08, nothing, absolutely nothing has happened. I have not been notified that they are in touch with any of my creditors, nor have I been told that anything other than them taking my money as a fee, which I knew about, has happened or will happen. I think they have got exactly what they wanted- their fee, and my frustration so that I will now go and talk to an attorney and file bankruptcty, which is what I wanted to avoid when I went with DRS. Don't be taken in by them, please. Call your creditors yourself----you can do it! You will only lose money and nothing will be done to help you!
