Wow Mura restaurant provided the best dinner, service and ambience of any restaurant I've eaten at in NC. We ate in a private room that was isolated from the rest of the restaurant using traditional Japanese paper walls. Once we got in the room we had our own table that was recessed into the floor so we would have seating, but still get the feel of sitting on the floor and eating food in the traditional Japanese way. Eating in this room will cost you and extra 20% in gratuity but it is worth it if you want a really unique, special dining experience unlike anything you've had before.

Our service from the waiter was also amazing. He was honest and well informed in his recommendations and did not bother us excessively during our meal, but was available whenever we needed anything.

And the food... Wow!!! It was soooo delicious. The chef prepared it perfectly, not a second overdone or under cooked. Each bite was a delectable and memorable experience. The vegetables were so fresh and the presentation and colors of the meal were phenomenal . It was like something you would see on TV.

I would definitely recommend this place if you want a special dining experience. However, be prepared to drop around $70 for a meal for two people. This includes the gratuity. But this is still expensive considering we did not have wine or any dessert.

I read the other two reviews, and I can't disagree more. I was also at the sushi event at Mura, and because the line was long, I didn't get any sushi, but when I told the servers about it, they offered me a gift card, refunding all my money for my trouble. \r
It gets busy there, I'll agree, but all those people are not there because they enjoy bad service. I have never had a negative experience there, although for a wait, at times. And when I did have any issues, I asked to speak to a manager, and he was on point. I have been to the other sushi restaurants in the area, and I must say that the overall atmosphere of the restaurant is kinda cool. The food is the best, and I've seen other restaurants try to copy their rolls and such, but I keep going back...\r
Actually, bitter people, or people who don't know to speak to management about issues shouldn't go out to eat, and stay home, if only to make the wait a little shorter for the rest of us... Mura - you guys rock... keep up the good work!

""So what if you have good sushi, is it worth it if you are treated poorly as a customer? Mura has a nice atmosphere and pretty good sushi, but their hostesses and wait staff are snobby and rude. I keep going back hoping to have a better experience than the last, but each time I return I am more disappointed than before. I think I am going to give up on this place changing. There are just as good places around to get sushi that do not make you feel inadequate (Shiki and Akashi in Durham, Sono in Raleigh which ironically is owned by Mura but they seem to be a bit nicer). Mura needs to learn how to treat their customers with respect and realize customers are a big portion what makes their business a success. ""\r

I second this review. I absolutely love the ""o"" roll, and I used to frequent Mura since I lived very close to it, but I always noticed that the service was never up to par. Something would always happen-rude hostesses, unattentive and/or rude wait staff, sushi rolls coming out wrong (A huge deal if you are allergic to shellfish and asking for salmon instead of the crab in a roll-this could have been very bad if we hadn't spotted it-and it happened on two different occasions!!)....As much as I love sushi, bad service ruins a good meal. I'll actually drive 20 minutes out of the way to get sushi elsewhere from now on-i'm done going to Mura only to be treated like I'm lucky to be eating there. Also-don't go to the sushi tastings that Mura puts on-that was the last straw. Anyone who went will tell you that it was THE MOST unorganized event that they've ever been to.

Cons: Terrible service will ruin your meal

Loved the food and the knowledgeable and attentive personnel. Would most definitely recommend the seafood salad and any of the maki rolls. Ask for the home made wasabi. It's a little extra, but well worth it. I doubt there is another restaurant in the area that offers this alternative to the pea-grean horseradish paste that usually accompanies sushi. The quiet and subdued atmosphere inside the restaurant was a welcome contrast to the pace of the North Hills shopping center where the restaurant is located. Will certainly visit this wonderful spot again.

I didn't think I could love Sushi so much. Everything I sampled here was excellent and bursting with flavor. The drinks were well made and the waiter was knowlegable of the wines. I highly reccomend Mura.

Pros: Exciting food

LOVE the blue lights at the bar. Good food. Nice staff. BUT... try to reserve their tatami room and they act like THEY'RE doing YOU a favor. They demand a 20% tip (I thought tips were for good service after the fact!!), won't separate checks more than 4 times, then tell you you have an hour and a half time limit. Seems they take care of THEMSELVES, not the customer.

I'm sorry, but I am going to have to disagree with most of the reviews on here. I thought the sushi was below average at best. First of all, sushi should not come out less than 10 minutes after you order it. Maybe some people like that but I think it's a sign of pre-made rolls. The restaurant was busy yet our three rolls came out in less than 10 minutes. Plus, they were SMOTHERED in sauces. Sauces that were bland and uninventive. It seemed like they were trying to cover up the fact that their fish wasn't fresh. Speaking of the fish, there was barely any in or on the rolls. Our server barely spoke to us and when he did he would quickly turn away as if he was too busy to chat with us. I will never go back. If you want high quality sushi go to Waraji. It is by far the best sushi in Raleigh and puts Mura to shame when it comes to food and service.

first - best sushi in raleigh. get the screaming o. the service there is great. bartenders and servers care about what you are getting and how much you enjoyed your evening. after reading a previous review about a management complaint- i would have to say i have had the opposite experience. they are more than accommodating and friendly and a disgruntled night at Mura is a one in a million chance. please go and enjoy their great food and service. a bad night is so rare i couldn't even imagine one! i highly recommend this place for a casual dinner or an excellent date!

I've been dinning at Mura for a couple of years, and I appsolutely love that place. They recently changed there GM & AGM and the attitude of the hole place has changed for the better. The food knowledge and the all around hustle of the staff and team work speaks for it's self! Keep up the good work guys. You have not lost me to Sono, see ya this weekend.

I've been to Mura before and always had a good time. The last time I went, however, the wait time was ridiculous, the food was good (not great) and the manager was incredibly rude. We waited 2 hours to get a table (after being promised a 30-45 minute wait); once at the table it took over an hour for our food to arrive and then after our plates were cleared from the table it took another 45 minutes just to get our checks. Finally fed up, we complained to the manager and his attitude was ""What do you want me to do about it? You waited too long to say something."" He even had the nerve to say, ""It's not normally like this. Go on Citysearch and read all the great reviews about us.""\r
\r
Bottom line: They need a new manager. I've worked in several restaurants and never seen anything like it.

I recently had a craving for sushi and was told that Mura at Northhills was the best in town. There was a thirty minute wait which was fine, to me that confirmed what I had been told about there food. The hostess was very kind and I was told I would be seated A.S.A.P. I was taken to my table, very classy restaurant. The waiter arrived at the table and introduced his self. I was asked if I had ever dined at Mura before? My reply was no, It's my first time. Atutomatically He began to smile and said welcome and we'll take great care of you. He recommended a glass of red wine that was then delivered not by him, but the manager who also welcome me and gave me a couple of recommendations. The waiter returned and took my appetizer order. I got the edamame and was very impressed. For my second course was the screaming o and it was amazing! Before I could finish my sushi, the manager came to check on me again to make sure the that I was happy with the roll and the service, and ask If I had saved room for desert? I was really full but assured him that I would be back . I was so blown away by the attention to detail from the hostess, bartender, waiter, food and management. I read the most resent review and felt it did not do justice to the great service that they give. Some people just need to eat at home. I definitely will return and tell everyone I know about where to get the best sushi and service in Raleigh.

To be honest, I really have mixed feelings about this place. They have hands down the best sushi I have ever eaten, specifically the Scream'n O, however this place majorly lacks class. I just had a really bad experience last time I went there. I simply wouldn't suggest taking someone there your trying to impress just in case you have to confront the waitor/manager with a problem. I ordered the scallops appitizer and they came out really chewey. I then told the waitress that they were not cooked right and i'd like to order something else. She sent the manager over and I re-told him the problem and he responds in a very snarley way, ""well I mean what do you want ME to do about it. Our chefs are top notch and I have a hard time beleiveing they weren't cooked right."" Arguing with the customer over a measly appitizer? Come on!\r
\r
Then when my check was presented to me they charged me for both things. I asked if the manager could come back over b/c sureley there may have been a mistake. He proceeded to tell me, ""I can't help it you didn't like it, I have a business to run"".

I've been to Mura quite a few times now and have always been happy...which is why I thought it was time to finally write about it and praise them! I sit at the bar or in the lounge area and always have a wonderful time with Deliah, Constatine and some of the others who are there all the time! These people know good food, and the servers are always helping when I bring someone new to pick out stuff....they also tell us about the things not on the menu, like the O roll or the real wasabi or their daily specials....The food is great, atmosphere is lovely and the few people who are there all the time are always such a pleasure. Deliah has told us that they are opening a new place downtown and I cannot wait since I work downtown! Now I'll have a weekly lunch spot!

My girlfriend and I have eaten here twice and both times were okay. The food was good but nothing really special. We both felt that the food and service at PF Changs is much better.\r
\r
This past visit, we had asked for a to-go box and requested that they include some extra rice since we had already eaten most of the rice that was served with our meal. PF Changs does this without hesitation. Our waiter at Mura's said he would see what he could do but in the end, no rice was provided. I doubt we'll be back to dine there again.

Every year in our aniversary we try a diferent place, this time we choose Mura and was a great experience. They reserved a private room for me and my husband to have our aniversary dinner, our server Constantino was a great help and give us a pleasure dinner with all his recomendations. Fair prices for the service and food. Great tuna stake, sushi one of the best I ever tried. Excelent wines and desserts. The whole experience was owesome. I highly recommeded.

I eat at Mura probably once a week on average, when I first moved to Raleigh it was my absolute favorite, but for the last month the service has been terrible. Its amazing to me that people (like me) can eat there probably 6-7 times a month and never once get a greeting from the manager. I always see him, I thought he was a customer at first. I normally sit in the lounge and although the wait staff is friendly, you will be lucky if they do not get stuck tending bar while they need to be waiting on you. Sometimes the Sushi is excellent, while other times it is small and avergage tasting at best. For two people you cannot get out without paying $45+ (even on nights with specials). The most annoying aspect of dining there is waiting for your server to notice when you need your check. I have gone before and waiting close to 20 minutes just to pay.

I've been to this place quite a few times. I go back because most of the time I get good service and most of the time the sushi is great. It's weird though...sometimes it's good and sometimes it's bad. Best bet is go to the sushi bar. The kitchen food is ok..but not great. The firecracker shrimp is good but tempura shrimp was a rip off. It tasted good but too expensive. And the sushi..find the right one to sit in front of and go there on none busy times... Far better service and food when they are slow. If you go on slow days and none peak hours..the sushi can be incredible. As far as freshness, variety, and creativity no other place competes...not even one of my other favorites waraji. Waraji has good food and are consistant. Mura can be one of the best and the worst. Take my advice and go on slow hours, usually early evenings are best bet. If you have a problem...don't bother asking for the manager. I had several bad encounters with him. He doesn't seem like he cares if we are happy or not. I usually dine at mura about once a week so I am familiar with the manager. Don't bother asking for him...it will just make everything worse. Half the time I see him he's smoking or drinking. Have enough consideration for customers to atleast pop a tic-tac after you smoke. Even on busy times he sits at the bar or the couch and does nothing. Maybe it's just coincidence and I just catch him on a bad time everytime I'm there. This restaurant can be a great place. I wish the owner steps up and takes care of his management. He might even consider getting a manager from mcdonalds. Seriously.

Seriously.

Pros: Beautiful place, great sushi most of the time...go on none peak hours.

Cons: Not consistant..it can be the best and worst dining experience.

I love sushi and japanese cuisines. I've been trying out almost every single japanese restaurants around town since I've moved here from California. First time I visited this restaurant the service was bad and food was just ok. But since I love sushi and besides couple of other sushi joints in town, this is about as good as it gets...I gave it another try. This time around I sat at the sushi bar and it made a BIG difference. There was this sushi chef(kinda young looking) I think was the head sushi man...i think his name was Michael....but I sat in front of him. He asked me what type of food I enjoyed and what the specials were for that day. He then explained to me about the different types of fish they had that are not on the menu and described each of them for me. What a difference in quality and taste!! Very good quality fish and he even made me some dishes that are not on the menu for me to try for free. This sashimi pizza thing was very good. He says I got lucky because he was in middle of making a course meal for a regular customer and was giving me little bit to taste. It was probably one of the best meals I've had in long long time. I just wish the dining experience could be the same. I definitely recommend this place when dining at the sushi bar. I haven't tried their entrees but I will next time I go...hope it is good as the sushi I had.

I had head a lot of great things about Mura. So, was excited when I had the opportunity to meet a few friends there for dinner and drinks. I thought the service we received at the bar was excellent. \r
\r
However, while we were seated at the table the service took a sudden down turn. Since I was relaxing with friends, I didn't mind waiting a little while for things. However, we were told that we would be getting a different server after our first one disappeared. We then had to go get drinks ourselves from the bar since we thought our second server was gone for good. When our server was at the table he made certain that he was at the table for as little time as possible. \r
\r
It was obvious that the place was busy. But, I could not believe that while the place was so busy that the manager sat on the front sofa reading. I was told by the hostess later on that he was a ""behind the scenes"" manager. ??? \r
\r
Addtionally, the server brought out one extra piece of sushi to one of my friends. She informed him of the error at the time. But, when the bill arrived he explained that he only charged her 1/2 price for the 2nd piece of sushi. I told him that we would not pay for it since we had not ordered it. He indicated that he ""could have given the sushi to someone else?"". After I insisted that we were not paying for his error...He did take it off the bill. \r
\r
Then later on he indicated that he was sorry ""that we thought he was rude since he was busy"" . And, he also mentioned that ""he could not wait to get a drink after his shift was over"". Actually, he was rude and it took everything in my power to leave 20%. But, I did. I guess it comes from waiting tables in college. \r
\r
I thought Mura was beautiful inside and the food was good. However, I don't think anything could make up for the poor service.

Tips for a good time at Mura are sit at the bar and talk to the chefs. The menu at Mura isn't very good and there is a lot of great stuff that's not on there. There are also seasonal or hard to find fish that aren't listed on the menu because they don't always have them... Examples of great stuff I tried at Mura that isn't on the menu are The Screaming ""O"" roll, real Wasabi (not from powder), Sea Urchin, and Toro (fatty Blue Fin Tuna). These are things I never would have experienced had I not sat at the bar. The chef's know what's fresh and they know what they're good at, they won't recommend something they don't think you'll like, mainly because you're sitting right in front of them and they'll have listen to you complain :) So, ask the chef what's good, he'll ask you what you like, and the adventure starts there. Also, for a real adventure, stay away from the ""boats"" and ""combos"" they are fixed priced samplers and the chefs are limited in what they can serve you in them. Go a la cart, its only a little more expensive and the chef can really show off for you. \r
The second time I went there with some friends and we sat in the dining room. I wouldn't recommend the dining room unless you have a party of more than four. Mura is popular and the wait can be pretty long. Also, they have these pagers to let you know your table is ready that are kinda obnoxious. They have bright blue LEDs and are bright like the sun (I'm not kidding.) Also, the waiter I had was very enthusiastic but they can't take the time that the chefs can at the bar to make recommendations, Stick with what you know you'll like if you're in the dining room, it's not the best place for a sushi adventure.\r
Make sure to try the ""real"" wasabi and ask if they have any Toro, its pricey but worth it.

I called in to make reservations for a party of 8 to sit on the patio and was told when I called that patio seating would be fine. When we got there we noticed the patio section was almost full, and definitely not enough room for 8 people. When I asked the answer to why it was almost full they didn't even have a record of an 8 party reservation. We waited for 25 minutes before being seated. 10 minutes just to be greeted and have water brought to us. Food was mediocre for the whopping prices. I ordered aged ribeye for close to 30 dollars. 70 dollars for a steak just seems crazy. Waiter wasn't able to answer questions about the menu. Steak was okay but for the price was definitely not worth it. Never coming back, nor are my friends and anyone else we can tell.

the cali roll was good but the spicy tuna roll was okay and messy. Some of the slices were thin some were to thick and it wasnt very spicy The girl that took my take out was great and the dining room was empty but trendy -- I would try it again maybe to dine in :)

Lots of variety, very chic, however, I found the sushi to be just ok. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but overall better at other places. Particularly, the sashimi pieces were very thin in comparison.

Just went here the other night for the first time and was really pleased. We sat at the bar and just got a few sushi rolls before a movie, but wound up having a great time! I can't wait to go back and really get to try a lot of things on their menu. (I laughed because they have a roll called the ""screaming o""...and yes, it is as good as it sounds....are you kidding me???!!!) Wonderful food, great atmosphere....that's all i have to say. I will be back there next week!

This past weekend, some family and friends of mine decided to take a chance and check out Mura for some sushi. Not only was the food great, out server was the best that I have ever had. we sat in one of their private ""tatami rooms"" and Darrell was our server. This gentleman was not only knowledgeable, but actually had the courage to tell us when we made a bad selection from the menu and tell us what we should get with complete confidence. This also applied to the wine and sake lists. The man falt out knows his stuff. Their filet mignon, and lobster dish are among two of the best meals I have ever tasted in Raleigh, and the""Screaming O"" roll and ""Volcano Roll"" were phenomenal. My advice to anyone out there, call and make a reservation for one of those rooms, because Darrell will give you one heck of an experience.

I would NOT recommend this restaurant at all! Even though Mura is fairly expensive, my husband and I chose to come here for dinner - we had a $50 coupon for this restaurant and decided to make use of it. (*Note - we have used coupons from this reputable restaurant website many, many times and have NEVER had a problem; every restaurant has accepted them and Mura is the ONLY one who would not - SEE BELOW!). Aside from this fact, our meal was just so-so; the sushi boat we ordered was good but lacking in variety and our waiter was terrible! He was not knowledgeable about the menu and appeared to have no experience. In an upscale restaurant like Mura, you would think that only experienced staff would be hired - not so in this case. However, we were polite and courteous throughout the meal and did not voice these thoughts to our waiter or management. Furthermore, upon receiving the bill for our meal and presenting our coupon, we were informed - first by the waiter and then the manager - that our coupon would NOT be honored. As mentioned above, we have used these coupons when dining out in the Triangle (and at places more expensive than Mura and for the same amount) and they've always been accepted - without question. The manager insisted/argued that Mura would not honor the coupon at all - period. We were shocked, disappointed and amazed at their lack of understanding and professionalism! The RIGHT thing to do would have been to graciously honor the coupon thereby providing excellent customer service and perhaps repeat business - I know we would have given them another chance). Instead, Mura chose to go the other route - they obviously are not concerned with MANY customers patronizing their establishment. Too bad because word-of-mouth is very important! We will NOT be back - EVER! Customer service is of utmost importance and you will not find it here. I give Mura ONE STAR :(

Great atmosphere, and LOVE the food (fresh). It has a good selection of non-sushi food, especially that my fiance does not eat raw fish. We both fell in love with the restaurant.

I gave them the benefit of the doubt the last time but now..... I will never go back. There are two other great sushi restaurants in town and both have always had a friendly and knowledgable staff. The service was slow (very slow) and very short w/ our party when we asked questions about the menu. The variety of nigiri is lacking compared to other sushi restaurants in town as well. The one plus they have is location, however, I am now willing to drive farther for better variety and much better service. Very disappointing.\r

Saturday I had the worst experience at Mura and will never go back. I called ahead at 10pm and asked if they could seat a party of 6 people. They confirmed yes, and would hold a table. We got there and they said we could not sit outside b/c the owner was taking our table. You would think the owner would want to accommodate a table of 6 people. \r
We were seated inside and waited at least 5 minutes before someone came over to give us menus. She told us she could not take a drink order. Our waitress did not come over for another 10 minutes. She was not apologetic and was not knowledgeable about the menu when we asked questions.\r
We placed drink orders and while waiting another 15 minutes decided this was too much and would not eat dinner, when we told the waitress she did not ask if anything was wrong but turned on her heel and walked away. At that point, she decided to be attentive asking if we had paid our bill 3 times! She was so rude!\r
The bill came to $70 with a 15% tip already included.\r
We left $67 to make a point - the tip should not have been included b/c we only had drinks and because the service was so terrible. The waitress and the manager chased us down the block asking for the $3. When we explained how bad the service was, the waitress blamed the hostess-- as if that is our problem!\r
I will not support Mura again - there are other great sushi spots that are less expensive and treat their customers with respect.\r

I don't know if I would say this is the best Sushi I've ever eaten, but it is among the best in Raleigh. The rolls were creative, and not overly seasoned. We sat on the patio and it was quite refreshing, but the indoor atmosphere seemed trendy without being stuffy. The server was knowledgeable, and attentive without being overly pushy. The only disappointment was that the crab was not ""fresh"" crab, it was colored to look like crab. Other than that, the seafood was fresh. So, the place isn't as good as the Sushi at Caesar's in Las Vegas, but as far as Raleigh goes, it's tops with me!

First of all, the first thing i noticed when i walked into Mura, was the friendly, beautiful, caring hostesses. They greeted me with kindness and respect as soon as I walked into the door. Second, the food was absolutely amazing. I had the ""screaming o"" and i was crazy about it! Their food is close to a perfect dinner. If you love sushi, you should definatley check this place out. Mura is my all time favorite place to dine, especially for sushi. I have tried almost all of their special rolls, and I have loved each one. The service is outstanding as well. The servers know exactly what they are doing, and each time that I dine they impress me more and more with their great service. The atmosphere is very unique. Whoever designed the restaurant really knew how to impress customers and make them feel comfortable while getting the feeling of the japenese culture. I rate Mura as having the best sushi in Raleigh. I have been to every sushi bar and have enjoyed Mura's exquisite food the best. If you choose to dine at Mura, try the Hard Rock roll or the Piano Roll for sushi. The fire cracker shrimp appetizer is the perfect way to start out your meal along with a martini. For dessert, try the keylime pie, its amazing! Gahlee all of this praising makes me want sushi, I think im going to Mura now!

Ive been going here since they opened and i have seen a dramatic downfall in their service and food lately. I used to go in once a week the staff new me the manager was always aware of what i liked who i was and etc.. She used to take care of me now i dont know any of the people there and nobody seems to care about the quality of service. The food isnt great and the prices are something to laugh about who wants to wait an hour for a table when told wait was 20 min. I dont even ask to speak to the managers anymore when somenthing goes wrong b/c they are a joke !! They act as if its ok to give bad service since thier"" busy"" i wont be going back and i'll be sure to tell my friends who frequent to be weary of returning. If you do dine here dont expect much from the management or staff.

Mura in raleigh was a pleasant surprise. I moved to raleigh several months ago, and my overall impression of Raleigh is not that great. My dining experience here in Raleigh so far has been NOT good. But Mura was VERY good. \r
It is a beautiful place and the food is great. Sushi was good, the hot food(my date ordered the unagi don) was good too. The sashimi was fresh and the special rolls were creative(UNLIKE other restaurants' tempura-flake-filled special rolls.) And now on to the sake menu. Enjoying sushi with the right drink is a MUST . Mura pays attention to this kind of aspect and does it well. Their sake menu is well selected.\r
When I first dined in Mura they had an hour wait (expected because it was a saturday night). But their lounge was first-come-first-serve based, so we were sat right away instead of waiting for the main dining room. I was expecting a minimal service in the lounge area, but our server, delila, was attentive to our every needs. Great food + Good drinks + superb service = MURA

I cannot rate this restaurant because we were denied a table. Their closing time was at 10:00 PM and we arrived at 9:10 PM. The restaurant was far from busy and we were told they were no longer seating people. We are sushi lovers and we wanted to try this restaurant for our aniversary. We'll never find out if it's any good. We will not recommend this place to anybody just because of how unpleasent they were and how eager they were to shut us out. Bonefish closes at the same time; however, they were happy to seat us about 9:20 PM (and another couple came in after we did).

My family decided to celebrate my daughter's birthday at Mura. This was our first and probably last time there. We needed to eat early since I work early hours (start at 3:00 a.m.) and arrived at 5:30. It was a Sunday and not crowded at all. We did not receive our food for an hour and 50 minutes! Although the food was good, it was not worthy of such a long wait. Almost 2 hours!!! That's unexcusable!!!

My gf and I had been to Mura once before and despite the long wait, had a good time at the bar and enjoyed our sushi.\r
\r
However, we were VERY disappointed with our last visit. My girlfriend ordered the Teriyaki Tbone and i had the pork roll katsu. We both had the potato croquettes as sides.\r
\r
Her steak was terrible. They claim that its marinated for 36 hours.. we don't doubt this. The steak in this case was thin and served as nothing more than a vehicle for overwhelming teriyaki flavor. It was so overbearing she couldn't eat it. Way to ruin what ever potential that steak might have had. I'm almost ashamed to admit I've had better steak at Golden Corral.\r
\r
My pork roll katsu was ok, but kind of bland. Basically nondescript fried stuff. By the time I finished this and the potato croquettes I felt like I had a pound of fried bread crumbs in my stomach. Meh.\r
\r
The service was average.\r
\r
Bright points were the salad dressing used on the garden salad and the martinis. We had the Green Tea and the Pomegranate, both were tasty.\r
\r
We could have gone to Applebees three times for the cost and quality of this meal. :(\r

I have been a loyal customer to Mura for a while now and this is one of my favorite restaurants in the triangle. Food and service have been consistently stellar and they have some of the best specials running on Sunday-Wednesdays. I usually go on Tuesdays because they have $5 martinis and a buy one get one 1/2 price special on sushi rolls. EVERYTHING about this restaurant screams FABULOUS!\r
\r
Sushi rolls- Original, fresh, and DELICIOUS...try the Screaming O, Piano, and Surf and Turf rolls...\r
Nigiri and Sashimi- The best cuts and selections!\r
Entrees- Truly Japanese fusion...you gotta try the KOBE!\r
Drinks- Tasty drinks, premium sake list, and a great wine list\r
\r
There's something for every taste at Mura and the wait staff is extremely helpful. They aim to broaden our horizons when it comes to Japanese cuisine. I learned that the ""wasabi"" that is normally served at all sushi bars is just concentrated horse radish and green dye and Mura is the only place to offer REAL WASABI! The sushi rolls are the freshest I've ever had. They grill your eel when you order it, your shrimp tempura is prepared the moment you order, and NOTHING is pre-cut. Sometimes Mura doesn't always all of their fish selection in stock (uni and toro), but a server helpfully explained to me that they have small shipments of everything to ensure its freshness and quality. Overall, this is the best Japanese restaurant in the triangle and everyone is wasting their money at the other imitation restaurants! It gets a little crazy on weekends, so go before 7 if you don't like waiting. P.S. There is plenty of parking behind JC Penny or you can park underground. There is an escalator conveniently located in front of Mura.

Several of my friends and I recently visited the restaurant and it was one of the best times I've ever had. We sat at the bar and was very impressed with the martini and wine choices. The bartender was very entertaining and made us several drinks that were his own creations. We ended up staying there until close and had a blast. The food was great, best I've had in Raleigh and the service was fast and friendly. This is definately our new girls night spot!! \r
ps...You have to try the screaming O roll....the name says it all!!

Went to Mura for the first time after I had heard it was the only place in the triangle with sushi comparable to Waraji. Mura is the kind of sushi place for people who do not normally eat sushi, as the rolls are practically all the same. I ordered sashimi style yet what I received was one sliver of fish on a rice roll wrapped in seaweed. I have never seen sashimi served with rice, and such tiny portions. Also, the freshness and the taste was not up to par. Our server was unable to answer our questions about sake, and simply recommended the two most expensive bottles.

I went to Mura for the first time last night, and had to immediately let the triangle know how wonderfrul this little place is. It's across from Gold's Gym at North Hills, and I stopped in to try some sushi after working out. What a beautiful place!!! I sat in the lounge area and was surprised to see how many wonderful things were on their menu. I just thought it was a little sushi joint, but boy was I wrong! This place has everything from sushi to Kobe beef...the waiter suggested the ""O"" Roll and Piano roll since all I wanted was a sushi rolls and it was to die for! What a great experience....I can't wait to go back there when I have more time to enjoy their menu....\r
People, try this place if you haven't....you'll be happy you did!

My God am I crazy about this place! Finally some actual authentic culture in our lovely city. How can you walk into Mura and not fall in love with the place? You would have to be a true hill billy or tasteless human being if you can overlook the attention to detail that the owners and staff have given this lovely restaurant. The blue bar had me in awh when I walked in, I gazed over and saw the bartenders having a great time and actually talking to their customers. It was a high class joint but with that, you know... ""Mom and Pop"" feeling. I loved it. \r
The food was grande. I have never had such a variety of things to choose from! My goodness, do I go with one of the 35 some odd sushi rolls or do I munch on some Kobe filet? Who in Raleigh even has Kobe?? These guys do. I could not decide so I had both sushi and an entree. Let me tell you, that ""O"" ROLL (Head Sushi Chefs Specialty) was awesome, then the server (a total cut up) brought out the T-bone dinner he had recommended. Wow! What a steak, you can tell it was marinated for 3 days as they claim.\r
The servers name was Hamad, or maybe even Mohammed. Unfortunately I do not remember but I will tell you he made our dinner experience very fun. We expected a stuck up, snooty waiter but boy were we wrong. He made dinner fun, he would joke around with us and part take even in our tables convos if we put him on the spot. \r
Don't get me wrong he was not the only one having fun, it seemed all the waiters in this place werer actually friends! It was an amusing experience, watching these servers work together as a team but with such humor and chemistry. \r
Mura of North Hills is a home run, and if you can not agree after dining there you are totaly taste less and tacky. Honestly people, what good sushi bars do we have? Shaababababbu??? I can't stand that place...or pronounce it. Sushi blues where all the NCSU frat boys come out to play Friday nights? Gross. If you enjoy sushi, and have any sort of class then go dine at Mura.

Pros: Service, Food, Atmosphere, Ambiance, Sushi presentation, THEY HAVE REAL WASABI!!

Cons: The only con I have is the presentation of the entrees.
