06/26/2010 - Played Brookhaven Masters course today for the first time for a "trial-run/considering membership round". I was very impressed. Very nice golf course, fairways and greens were in great shape. We haven't had hardly any rain in a long time and didn't know what to expect, but I can only imagine conditions when we've actually had a little rain. This specific course was long, and also a nice challenge(I usually shoot mid 90's) but wasn't too hard where it wasn't enjoyable. Club employees were very friendly, and so were the other players I ran into during the round. They have a tremendous golf practice facility, and short game area. The only kind of wierd thing about Brookhaven is that some parts of the course are surrounded by older, 70's homes that are a little run down, but the quality of the course made me forget about that. Play was at a good pace, and this was a Friday afternoon round. They recently rennovated the entire clubhouse/pool area/ etc., and for the price, it is top-notch! Men's locker room is very modern, spacious, and nice. Great card room/lounge in back of mens locker room with flat screens lining the walls. They have 2 other courses which I have heard good things about, and also looked as good or better shape than the Masters. I'm pretty sure I will be joining, and as of right now they are offering an unbelievable deal for young prof's under 40.

This place does not offer the glitz and glamour of some of the old money clubs in Dallas, but also avoids the Prima Donna feel of the Plano, Frisco and Lewisville clubs. Good family club and also a great place for golf (3 courses) and a world class tennis facility. The price is extremely reasonable and the club is finally embarking on a renovation project that should take it out of the 1980's look and feel. Food in the restaurants is good, but pricey ... but the biggest drawback is the lack of view from any of the dining rooms.
