We recently purchased a 2011 Blackline for me, a 2011 883 Super Lo for my 16 year old son, and a 2011 CVO Softail Convertible for my husband from CTHD. Their sales was extremely knowledgable and helpful, and they will do whatever it takes to ensure that you drive away with the bike of your dreams! After reading the reviews on this site, I can't even believe it's the same dealership. The Sales Manager (Jack) is AWESOME and will really go the extra mile to do the deal! Jenny in Finance knows her stuff, but also will hang out and chat, no matter HOW late it is! The staff in motorclothes go out of their way to assist, and the receptionist is always quick with a smile and greeting! In fact, our experience with CTHD has been so awesome that we have sent several of our friends there to purchase bikes as well! They have definitely become our family dealership of choice. Keep up the great work!

NEVER, GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!
I recently purchased a pre-owned soft-tail from a private owner and took it into this dealership to have all the fluids changed. This is my first bike and as soon as they saw that I wasn't exactly "knowledgeable" they tried to take me to the bank. Sales guy brought out the service manager "Joe" and he tried to upsell me on many different things. The most outlandish was that my rear tire had "dry-rot" and that if I didn't replace it, it could be deadly. I told him I agreed that a bad tire would be very dangerous but that this tire is brand new and still has the tabs on the tire. No dry rot whatsoever. I had to repeatedly re-iterate that all I wanted was an oil change and a new battery. They quoted me 200 bucks on the fluid change and 135 on the battery. I know I can get the battery for 85 bucks or so but wanted to ride that night so told them to go ahead. When I came in to pick up the bike, I was shocked when the sales guy told me the bill was just shy of 600 bucks!!!!! 200 fluid change, 140 for the battery, 100 bucks for installation and another 150 or so because they had to test the the "system" to ensure there was no drain on the battery. First of all the battery installation is extremely simple and so is testing the system. Secondly, I was never quoted these "extra" charges, nor did I authorize them. After a long intense discussion and pinning them down on these issues, I settled for 400 bucks even because I was fed up and told them it was a shame because I couldn't trust them to ever bring it back without trying to rape and upsell me. They didn't seem to mind. Acted as though it was a normal issue they deal with it and I'm sure it is. AFTER RIDING THAT NIGHT, I PARKED THE BIKE AND FOUND OIL ALL OVER THE FRAME AND REAR TIRE. So I called a friend over and we found the oil plug was not even hand tight! Oil leaked from the bike and we found the derby cover to be leaking oil SEVERELY. The original gasket for the derby cover was RE-USED!!! Service department refuses to let me speak with "Joe" the manager but gave me his phone number. Been calling him about once and hour for two days, his voice mail box is full and left my info with the service dept for a call back from him. STILL NO CALL, IT'S BEEN A WEEK. My bike engine and primary could have easily been RUINED! And could still be damaged. THE ONLY THING I CAN SAY IS THIS PLACE IS THAT THEY ARE WAY OFF COARSE AND ITS VERY CLEAR THAT THE SERVICE MANAGER IS THE LEADER OF THE PACK AND IS ULTIMATELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MESS THEY HAVE THERE. The parts department however, seems very helpful.

My girlfriend and I went into the Austin location of CTHD looking to purchase her first bike. We found a 95 Honda Shadow. Got a good deal on it. Ran into a slight issue- she did not have a motorcycle license yet and I did not have a valid Texas motorcycle license. The guys at CTHD agreed to deliver the bike to my house and I live in Manor. I said that was awesome, but I was about to be going on vacation the next day. They agreed to keep the bike there and deliver it when I got back. The bike sat for about a month before my girlfriend was able to ride it. Once she did- we noticed that the speedometer didn't work. Then on the way home from a ride, the key fell out. We called CTHD the next day- and they agreed to come pick up the bike and fix all of it for free. I bought a used bike, had it for at least a month- they had no reason to help, especially for no cost. But they came out to my house in Manor, loaded my bike into a trailer and fixed it for free. I was pleasantly surprised.

A few months latter I got a mostly junk Yamaha from a person privately. I did not want to keep it since it had so many issues (including having no brakes). I took it up to CTHD. They looked it over and offered me over what it was worth on it. Then they stayed an hour past close so I could run home and get proof of employment to finish the paper work for a new used bike. I ended up riding out of there on an 01 Yamaha V-Star that I got an awesome deal for. The next day, the bike wouldn't start. I called up CTHD and they sent a mechanic out to my house with a new battery and replaced it in my driveway for no cost.

I've had nothing but awesome experiences with the Austin local of CTHD and recommend people there all the time.

Cons: the Austin location is only used bikes

I've had a mixed experience with these guys. This review covers the Round Rock store.

When I decided to buy a bike I found a deal ahead of time I was willing to do. I took it into Central Texas and explained that I'd be happy to buy from them as it would be more convenient. I presented the deal and said, "Match it (it was $1000 below MSRP drive out, including tax) and you have my business." The sales guy comes back and says "we'll match it" and he hands me a sheet with the numbers on it.

Well, what they had taken out of the "sales" price of the bike, they added back into the "dealer prep" and "destination" charges. Classic. They were still about $2k higher. So I said, "Uh, no, as I mentioned, the drive out price was X. I don't care how you add it up, you need to match that price." The guy said, "if you can buy the bike at that price I'd do it."

I said, "Ok." And I bought the bike from the original deal. I received 3 calls later that day asking what they could do to win the business and I told them. They couldn't, or wouldn't, meet that other offer.

I can't fault them for not matching it. That I don't care about. Business is business. What did bother me was the positioning of "we'll match it" only to have a bunch of $ in additional line items. It was pretty insulting given that I gave them the details of the other offer.

That said, the parts guys and the apparel people I have dealt with have been very helpful. I don't like to buy from them as I typically order from a 20% off dealer. But when I need something quick they help me out.

"From the very first day I walked into the CTHD dealership, I was greeted by two sales people. I ended up speaking to one guy and found someone that had a common intrest in cycling/mountain biking. My second trip to thedealership I was welcomed by several of the sales people and what surprised me the most is that they already knew me! My thrid trip to the dealership just about everyone made me feel welcomed and comfortable... which made my mind up and and that was the day I purchased my bike. That night I registered myself in your rider's edge class on line. I then recieved a call from the dealership confirming my registration, and I asked to move to a early class. Very surprised, I recieved several calls always keeping me updated if I was able to move in to a class. This weekend I was able to do my Rider's Edge Class, and let me tell you! It was more than what I expected! Great class and instructors leading the way! Most of all the commitment that CTHD has offered me. I asked if I could use my gift card from the class for additional bike accessories... like a windshield for the bike of my dreams? And everyone at the dealership went above and beyond to take care of me! Thank you for providing Great Service, Great Class, and most of all True People who knows what it takes to make DREAMS COME TRUE! "

Having purchased ether Harleys before, I have a good idea of what I want. But at this store I had the unfortunate experience of meeting the sales manager (Mike I think) who argued with me on my decision. A very arrogant Blank,Blank that acted like he was a gift to everyone, especially his sales staff. Nevertheless I continued with the purchase and was still going to purchase the Soft tail i wanted. Then after being hit with a "Walk around" I was pressured into purchase??s that are just gravy for the dealership. Unlike the lady that posted here of her findings, I knew of these downfalls and refused the junk, the chrome, the additional service package and more... All are pure profit to the Dealer. But then i was hit with the insult... The Interest rate. They hit me high and I went running. As I was walking out one of the salesmen called me a name, but I left with dignity... Long story ends with the purchase at Cowboy Harley Davidson. It went smooth and fast, no sales pressure or add on pressure. Some of it was offered and it was offered at less money. Oh yes the best part is the interest on the bike, the first offer was 4.5 percent lower than Central Texas and to wrap it up they came dn another .5 percent and gave me some chrome .. Left with a smile and a fantastic bike at a total of 850 less for the bike itself, and over a thousand in fees and interest... DO YOUR HOMEWORK, do not fall prey to the walk around steps to get you money,,,, They are not your friends, they need to pay for the new big building, and they will do it with your money....

These guys are trying to sell HD well over MSRP when other HD dealers are discounting, but the pretend they are making a deal. These guys are SNAKES when it comes to buying a bike there and then they try to add a bunch of extra's on there. The sale people are nice enough but the sales managers wont come out from behind there glass to face the customer. Really a shame since they have a nice new store.

Even though I live a couple minutes away from the new CTHD, I'd rather drive to South Austin or Temple to buy anything Harley. They lost 2 loyal customers! In Sept. 07 bought a new FLHT. Well almost 2 months ago the bike was in an accident and the insurance totaled it. They paid what the bike was worth and I'm left to pay the rest (the pay off). The pay off is $5000. I bought extended warranty & the Priority VIP Platinum Club. I didn't get the Gap insurance because being that this was my first purchase ever, I didn't know what it was...NOBODY explained it to me. Now knowing what it is, I would get it in a heartbeat. TOO LATE! I don't want another bike, they're making it so difficult. Now I'm trying to get my $2899 (extended warranty) reimbursed back to me. They gave me less then $500 back and that's it! I asked "So since I'm not getting another bike, you just keep the money?" The guy said very rudely "YES!" The VIP Club ($2280) I'm paying for goes down the drain. The vibe I get from them is "SCREW YOU CUSTOMER."

Even though I live a couple minutes away from the new location in Round Rock.....I'd rather drive to South Austin or Temple to buy anything Harley related. They lost 2 loyal customers!
In Sept. 07 we were browsing at CTHD, a sales man came up and said which one do you like. I said the 07' Black Electra Glide Classic. He said "If I can get you in that bike today, you want it?" I said "Sure!" I honestly didn't think I had a chance. I told him I didn't have a down payment and I wanted my payments to be no more than $500 a month. So he went to work. Not long after that, the bike was mine. It went by so fast.....it seemed so easy!
Well almost 2 months ago the bike was in an accident. The damages were too much, so the insurance totaled it. They paid what the bike was worth and I'm left to pay the rest (the pay off). The pay off is $5000. I bought extended warranty & the Priority VIP Platinum Club. That's over $2000 right there. I didn't get the Gap insurance because being that this was my first purchase ever, I didn't know what it was...NOBODY explained it to me. Now knowing what it is, I would get it in a heartbeat. TOO LATE!
So after the accident we went back to CTHD to see if they can help us get another bike. Our sales guy was not helpful at all. We dealt with that back and forth for a couple of days. The finance person finally told us HD changed the policy...now it's more difficult for me to get approved because of the economy, they're scared. So they wanted money down or they were gonna get me in a dyna. I said forget it, I don't want a bike anymore, they're making it so difficult.

Cons: Bad service after you purchace the bike

I started pre-planning the purchase of an Ultra Classic with the Central Texas Harley Management at the end of Feb. 2008. It was going to be an exciting time for me as I was supposedly purchasing the ultimate Harley Davidson touring bike. In addition to the bike, I customized it with what turned out to be over $12,000.00 worth of accessories. You would think that would be motivation enough for a dealership to make things happen in a fast way. Not so with this dealership.

I sat working for hours with the parts guys (the experts) laying out the bike just the way I wanted it. I made several little changes to the parts list as the weeks went by. At my request I had one of the senior parts guys go over the list. He found several things that were duplicated on the parts list or things that were not needed at all for the bike. So the other parts guys missed this. When the parts list was finalized I was assured that none of the parts would be hard to get and that if they needed to overnight some of the parts, they would. So I asked them to order the bike. I was told that they had found the bike in San Antonio and would go and get it the following day, which turned into the following day, which turned into the following day. Three days later they go to San Antonio to pick up the bike. Guess what? They bring back the wrong color bike!!

The total parts list was so extensive that it would take about 38-39 hours of labor to install it all. Well it's been a week and a half and my bike (which is fully paid for) is sitting in the service department waiting on parts. Parts I remind you, that I was told would not be an issue to get. And that they would overnight if there was anything they needed. Today is March 31, 2008 and I just left the dealership trying to get an update on the status of my bike. I could not get the service manager to come out to talk to me, but they tell me parts are still on order and that the bike MIGHT be ready this weekend. Would you believe them?
