I've been looking for Honey Walnut Shrimp in San Antonio ever since Buffet King Chinese closed a couple of years ago. Although Golden Wok does not have Honey Walnut Shrimp, they do have an excellent Walnut Shrimp, and I often go there to enjoy it. I have never been even slightly disappointed, either with the food or the service.

I was very excited to try the food at the Golden Wok after reading the reviews, but was quickly disappointed after first tasting the Won Ton soup, which was flavorless. \n\nI ordered Orange beef, extra spicey, which had no heat what so ever. It tasted like unseasoned beef in an odd tasting ketchup. My friend's daughter ordered sweet and sour pork, which was significantly over salted,\n\nThe dim sum was however very good, along with the pot stickers. This part of the meal was great.\n\nThe waitress was very pleasant and attentive. She removed the offending orange beef off of the bill and was willing to try to make the meal a sucess. \n\nI would recommend sticking with the appetizers and dim sum and not ordering an entree.

Good for San Antonio but average for any other big city. They are pricey and once when ordering out they wanted a dollar for some ginger soy to take with us?!

I've been going to this place for probably over 10 years- delicious! Was a little hurt years ago when they had a menu change because a few of my favorite dishes were put to rest :( But the real reason I go back?? Their Hot and Sour soup is THE best I've ever had!! Don't know whats in there, but its completely different from anywhere else. Great! I'm salivating on my keyboard.

I love dim sum on the weekends, they have a great selection and all of it is very fresh and delicious (from what I was brave enough to try... no chicken feet or tripe for me!) Very busy on Sunday afternoon so get there early or go on Saturday. I have been on the weekdays for lunch and like the lunch specials and have always gotten good and prompt service even when they were very busy I never had to wait too long (10-15 min) for a table. They have a limited selection of dim sum during dinner if you can't make it on the weekend mornings.

There are very few places in San Antonio that serves Dim Sum and Golden Wok is one. I like that the food is serve steaming hot and fresh but it is very westernize. If you go at happy hour the selection is limited, you have to sit at the bar and order drinks. Service even at non-rush hours is very slow. The waitresses seem more interested in filling the sugar containers then taking your order or serving you tea. If you are going to eat here expect it to be a leisurely meal not fast and timely.

In Asian cuisine, this place is a safe bet. The food is good - a little too americanised but definitely nice. They have options in Chinese, Thai and pan Asian.\r\n\r\nThe place is kinda nice - good open seating, large TV, a good bar and a do-your-own meal kind of thing. The prices are higher. Service could be improved. they took me a while to sit and the guy waiting my table was unhappy when I complained about a greasy plate.

The Dim Sum on Sundays is the only reason I go here. It is VERY GOOD - close to being home made.\r\nTHough it is not on par to resturants in China Town in NYC, Toranto Canada, Seattle or Washington DC.\r\nThe service is the only reason we do not visit as often. It can be very good to very bad.\r\nReally sad, since it has a great look and feel to the place.\r\nEven with spotty service, we have continued to go here the past 5-years.\r\nSince the start of 2007, they have hired new managment and waiters and it seems to be better - for now.\r\n\r\nI would recommend this resturant to my friends and family.\r\nIf the service was more consistant, their rating would be higher.

I go there very often and am always pleased with the food, wait staff and overall dining experience. \r\nThe food is always hot, the dim sum is excellent and the atmosphere is relaxed. Start off with hot tea from the variety offered, have dim sum and my personal entree recommendation is the Chow Fun. I have never gotten bad food or poor service at this establishment.

Normally great food and so so service but notice a definite decline in customer service. Last visit took 2.5 hrs. Went at lunch, weekday, seated shortly and ignored by our waitress for 40 minutes who then brought tea but no cups and dirty plates. She seemed to have personal issues and we had to beg another waiter to take our order after walking our dim sum order to the kitchen ourself. We tried to order and she would walk away midsentence and it seemed she did not want to particulary wait on us,although she waited on, served, 3 tables after we were seated who all left before we were served. We waited a long time for the manager to come over, was saved by another gracious waiter who took our orders, and the manager said ""sorry"" and kept pouring tea for us and didn't seem to listen understand that we felt unwelcome and his employees rudeness shook our kids up who were with us. This employee made it very hard to do business with them as she wouldn't take our order, and represented the place in a very bad light and in front of our children. The manager did not care that we were so patient and nice about things. We like good chinese and half the people at the table that day were asian. Judging by her looks toward us and attitude she brought some personal issues and took them out on us. We have been going there for years and won't be going back. Stay far, far away from this place. After we left, we joked that maybe this employee is a family member they have to put up with. Maybe they do,but not this paying customer.

I LOVE Golden Wok! I've been going to Golden Wok since I was a kid and I've never had a bad experience. The food is to die for especially their weekend Dim Sum. There is no other place in San Antonio where you can get delicious fresh made dim sum. I have tried a few places but nothing compares! I always enjoy the atmosphere and the friendly wait staff as well. If you have yet to try Golden Wok I think its about time you try it out.

The best time to come is at lunch on Saturday when all Dim Sum is available. Try the Char Su Bao! Their Sesame Chicken is the best in town! Great value for the money and the Koi pond right outside the large glass windows make for great ambiance.

I highly recommend this restaurant one that's along the lines of P.F. Chang's. Golden Wok serves fresh regional dishes where you can watch the cooks preparing your meal at the center of the restaurant. Definitely not a fast food joint with overly Americanized menu. They serve excellent dim sum at a good price, and it's probably the only place in SA where you can get dim sum! Decor is more modern and clean compared to the Marbach Golden Wok (which does NOT serve dim sum). Good service and ample amount of parking.

Wow! I am amazed how beautiful the restaurant looks inside. They have a variety of items on the menu and the Dim Sum is something I have not found anywhere else in town. This is probably one of the best Chinese/Asian restaurant in San Antonio. My girlfriend and I dine there at least once a week and the food is just perfect!\n

Golden Wok has the best dim sum in town. i've been to other dim sum chinese restaurants (the ones in houston) and i must say Golden wok tops them all. they have a very contempory decor and the atmosphere is just great. not only do they have great dim sum but also great chinese food (i.e. sesame chicken and chinese broccoli). you should come on the weekend when they have the dim sum carts out so you can choose what you want. one con is that the waiting is pretty long but it is worth the wait!

Golden Wok is one of the few places in San Antonio that my Chinese friends - myself included- will actually go to on a regular basis. The food is very authentic, and tastes wonderful. I recommend going during the hours when the dim sum carts roll around.

I remember my grandparents taking me to Golden Wok, with the gold tones and dragons back in the day. Now looking at the contemporary look it's still the same place with a new flair. There is no doubt the dim sum rocks!. I recommend the squid and the shrimp dumplings. THey have an extensive menu. Also if you make it there a little too late to eat, their sister company Fire Wok in Huebner Oaks shopping center is open till 10 pm. 7 days a week. They are next to the Bike shop on the AMC Theatre side of the street.

I've traveled all over the US and Golden Wok's dim sum tops any of the restaurants in Texas and as well as those in SF and NYC. Try their Sin Juk rolls - to die for!

Let me tell you that you won't be disappointed with the food at Golden Wok! I've lived in SA all my life and this is the best tasting Chinese food around. Dinner prices can be fairly steep, as everything is a la carte, but it's all served family style so you can make a dish stretch. Lunch prices are GREAT though! The only problem you might run into with this place is that they tend to be a little overcrowded and understaffed during the lunch rush. Try them for dinner for great atmosphere and highly attentive waitstaff. Golden Wok has a large variety of dishes, a make-your-own stir fry bar, and dim sum on Sundays...good stuff!

If you're like me, you rate a good Chinese restaurant by the amount of Chinese/ asians that actually eat there. Well, look no further. I have been a loyal patron of Golden Wok for 12 years. If you are looking for ""chinatown"" style and actually know what that is, than this is the place to go. From the ambience and the service, your experience should not be disappointing. For Dim Sum lovers, you'll be very pleased. For the classic, all the traditional fare is available. My recommendation would be Sesame Chicken - or Sesame Shrimp (off menu). Having eaten at all the Chinese restaurants in town (Mencius, Formosa, etc), most of the best in South Texas (PF Chang, Kim Son, etc), it all comes down to one place - Golden Wok - A.k.A - my second home. - Be ready for a wait on the weekends.
