.

I didn't realize that my previous review got cut off at a certain point (this place angered me at the time; I guess I ranted too much, haha). I'll fix it later.

Since then, they finally changed this dinky Wal-Mart into your typical Wal-Mart Supercenter. It has a grocery section, things are more organized and spaced out, they've got TWO entrances, and -- my favorite thing -- it's open 24/7. You don't have everyone fighting for parking near the one entrance anymore. People walk in and out of the store at a leisurely pace instead of pushing their way through both the entrance and the exit. In the old Wal-Mart, they never utilized every register that they had, which probably could have lessened the traffic inside by a LOT, but now they do. They have more registers and more people manning them.

I don't normally buy meat from Wal-Mart because I feel like some of their perishables are questionable. I'd never heard anything about the quality, but since they sell everything for relatively cheap, it was the feeling I got (after my incident that you are about to read, I did google it and others have found their meat questionable or had bad experiences). My mom decided to buy a package of stew meat (just cubed beef) to make some beef stew. She put it in the fridge so she could make it for dinner in the near future. Two days after we purchased it, she asked me to get it out so she could make dinner, but the meat had started to go bad. It turned that brownish-purplish color and started to smell sour... after only two days. I've left meat in the refrigerator (not frozen) for nearly a week and it stayed longer than that.

Also, regarding the price of the meat: Sam's Club gives you a better deal on the stew meat than Wal-Mart. For almost the same price, you could get a lot more meat there than in the thin packages at Wal-Mart. Normally we go to Sam's to get it, but my mom was just making a small portion for my sister, who moved out, and bought the smaller pack while she was at Wal-Mart. She said she wouldn't do it again because of the price, but now I think we'll never do it again because we don't know how well their meat is stored.

I've gotten ground turkey and pork from them at other Wal-Marts (not in the area), but I froze them and used them within the next week or two. Nothing bad happened with those.

I don't know how long ago this went up, but there is another Wal-Mart just a few minutes away in North Bergen now. I feel like, on top of the upgrade our Wal-Mart got, this may have lessened the traffic, too. We had a lot of people not local to Secaucus coming over and it was always so congested.

I gotta say that this place is a lot less crazy and stressful to shop at -- especially at 2am.
