We looked and looked for 5 months at local childcare centers before I even thought of returning to work. As an infant, my son went through 2 other daycares (which we pulled him out of within 2 weeks) before we came to Kiddie College. When I showed up at their doorstep in tears with my 7 month old, who had just been left to scream by himself for 2 hours at (unnamed daycare), I did not think I would ever trust a daycare center with my baby again. However, within 5 minutes, my son crawled out of my arms, over to Shawna (Director), pulled to stand, and smiled. That was the beginning of a beautiful relationship. In this infant room, the children and teacher(s) are on the floor, playing with the children, which is a rare sight in daycares. (In other places we experienced, babies often go from an exersaucer to a swing to a bouncer to a crib, etc, while rarely having human contact or adequate floor time.) Kiddie College's first rule of child care is to honor and respect the parents' wishes (within reason, of course!) The staff is nurturing and caring, and Shawna (Director) and the teachers have ALWAYS walked that extra mile and gone out of their way to accomodate families' needs. If my son had difficulty in the class, Shawna and the teachers found a way to give him a lot of one-on-one attention to help get him through rough periods. They maintain an outstanding level of communication with parents, and facilitate an environment where the parents can get to know each other (great for birthday parties and kids' get-togethers outside of the classroom). They look to get to know your child and create a setting where your child can be successful, as opposed to having a strict set of rules that your child has to conform to and meet. Although price was no object when it came to the care of my son, I found Kiddie College to be the least expensive center in Georgetown. They also have a gorgeous new facility. I have recommended Kiddie College to everyone I know who is looking for a place to care for their children during the day, and I will continue to sing their praises.
