Ratings_icons Good food

I don't think they are memorable, but for good food at a nice place, it works for me. I've been there both on a date and with a large party, and the service was great both times.

Ratings_icons We really like Encore

Rose K. | insider Insider | Rank: 13,891

My family and I go on a regular basis and it's great because the food is good, service is good, and it's suprisingly kid-friendly. I would definitely recommend it for a laid-back family dinner anytime.

Ratings_icons Good Food & Service but a little noisy

Ken T. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,277

I went with a group of 8 on a Sunday night. The food was very good and the service was good as well.

The only issue was the noise level in the restaurant. With the open kitchen setup they have there can be a considerably din. It was impossible to carry on a conversation with anyone who wasn't sitting either next or directly across.

If Encore would fix this then I would grade them higher than satisfactory.

Ratings_icons overall good food with great service

melvinp2

after eating at encore several times my family found the food very tasty and presentable. my son and mother love the chicken salad(encore salad) the fries are always fresh as well as the bread with olive oil dip. the service is always good and we will continue to return.

Pros: ambience is good always clean and good service as well as tasty food

Cons: deserts offerings could be more varied

Ratings_icons great in theory, miserable in actuality

chow10006

Considered in the abstract, this restaurant should be terrific. Great location, decent decor, trendy open kitchen, laid-back menu (nothing too trendy), family friendly. In actuality, it just doesn't work. The decor strives for upscale contemporary but just doesn't quite make the mark. Open kitchens are usually decorative. This open kitchen consists of a half height wall separating the diners from a utilitarian and incredibly loud work area lit by blinding flourescent lights. Bring sunglasses and ear plugs in case you're seated within 20' of this space. Sound reverberates and is amplified in the main space. Even one family with a loud child can take the noise level up to full school bus levels.

All of the above would be excusable if the food was good. Unfortunately, the laid-back menu is too laid-back. At $15+ for an entree in this town, I expect a better quality product than pasta a la Campbell's Cream of Mushroom soup. Service, however, was good.

Pros: nice serving staff

Cons: everything else
