Considered in the abstract, this restaurant should be terrific. Great location, decent decor, trendy open kitchen, laid-back menu (nothing too trendy), family friendly. In actuality, it just doesn't work. The decor strives for upscale contemporary but just doesn't quite make the mark. Open kitchens are usually decorative. This open kitchen consists of a half height wall separating the diners from a utilitarian and incredibly loud work area lit by blinding flourescent lights. Bring sunglasses and ear plugs in case you're seated within 20' of this space. Sound reverberates and is amplified in the main space. Even one family with a loud child can take the noise level up to full school bus levels.
All of the above would be excusable if the food was good. Unfortunately, the laid-back menu is too laid-back. At $15+ for an entree in this town, I expect a better quality product than pasta a la Campbell's Cream of Mushroom soup. Service, however, was good.
Pros: nice serving staff
Cons: everything else
