My experiences with Organic Mechanic have been nothing short of extraordinary, from their constant updates on progress with my cars to their quality of work to their prices to their customer service, I can safely say I have never had a better experience with an auto mechanic in 15 years of driving. The work I have had done on my cars has been well within normal pricing, I have gotten up to 8 calls in one day keeping me updated on the progress of my car, and everything that has ever been fixed is still working like a charm. Any time I have been to a mechanic who charged way less than normal all the repairs failed within months; the Organic Mechanic charges what they charge because they get the job done right the first time; if you want a cheap repair you will get cheap results.

This shop will charge you for everything, even for gasoline to test drive the car. And they charge big bucks for this area. Actually being from California I think I can safely say they charge big bucks for Any Area. in fact on average They charge 30 dollars an hour more then almost every shop in the area and they take what I am averaging to be about 30 -50 percent longer to do each repair. They even charge 80 dollars for a 5 miles tow when that is not what the drivers charge. They make money on everything even if they do not have there hand in it. If you take your car in for work and they suggest you get new tires they even take a cut on that. even though they do not do any of the tire work themselves. They are more interested in keeping things local then saving there customer money or even fixing the vehicle if the parts can not obtain locally.

My actual experience with them is much more of a nightmare then being overcharged . My story starts back at the end of May. Now that we are mid way into November I have not driven my car for 5 months. So far my Cost has been over 5 thousand dollars. The car still does not run and had to be towed to another shop last week. The shop it ended up at found some of the real problems in under 3 hours and told me even the most basic diagnostics had obviously not run on my car ever. Total misdiagnosis from OM and excuse after excuse combine with a total lack of communication were my experience with OM. I was lied to and strung along the entire time. One of the not Critical repairs I authorized them to do was to replaced my A/C compressor a 1,000 dollar part. at least that is what they charged me for it, I found the compressor a few weeks later on the internet for under 700 dollars. But whats worse? my A/C still does not work because the connecting valves were not replaced and now they claim they can not get the parts for the compressor they ordered. At one point I had to find parts for them, and they never ordered them, they just kept putting the car on the side of the shop waiting for me to give up I think. Every single system they fixed lasted less then 100 miles. In 5 months I have put less then 300 total miles on this car, spent over 5,000 dollars, and gone for over a week without them returning my phone calls. Worst possible experience I have ever had with a repair shop, or with customer relations.

Also I recommend asking them what makes them "Organic" and determine for yourself if its worth an extra 30 dollars an hour. Worst Possible experience ever.

I have a report on Angies List and I have filed an official claim with the BBB. I am also seeking legal services. In my 4 decades of life I have never complained about a company or reported anyone to the BBB. . Ive never even complained to the manager of a fast food place when my fries were cold. And I have never once felt anything that has ever happened to me was worth getting a lawyer over. Those statements alone should help convey OM's complete a total incompetence and lack of customer service all while charging up to 3 times as much to do the same work as other garages in the area.

I had my van towed there to check the fuel pump. Had to pay $84 for a complete diagnostic of the whole car. I was given an estimate for replacement of the fuel pump at over $900.00 and recommendation of replacing front brakes and rotors for close to $500.00. I called several other garages, and found I could get the same work done for less than half the price at all of them. I told Organic Mechanic that I would be taking the van elsewhere for the repairs. The staff was extremely nice and informative up until I paid the $84.00 for the diagnostic, however not one of the mechanics or office staff lifted a finger to help us push the van onto the tow truck. I can't imagine there are no gentlemen there, so they must have been specifically told to keep working and allow a woman to push a van as they watched. Luckily it was not difficult and we proceeded off the lot. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to pay twice as much as any other garage charges, and will not disagree with the proposed work or rates.

They were very nice and clean inside their waiting area I loved the set up and thought it would be great.I was suprised a little at the $80 diagnostics fee but heard they were great so moved past it. They called me with an estimate and told me it would cost $532 ($432.00 for the part) I looked at prices for that part which ranged from $96-$220. I was appalled at this and also when they quoted me $300 to replace my serpentine belt I knew it was a rip off. I'm happy to see an organic eco-friendly shop but very disappointed that they would try and charge so much.

I just moved to asheville and my truck broke down. I took my truck to 2 other mechanics before finding the organic mechanic. Both the first shops quoted me some great price and when I took my truck in they told me it was going to be a lot more. $850 later still having the same problem I took it to the organic mechanic. Wow what a nice place and they care for the environment. Thats unheard of at a car shop. They wouldnt give me a price to fix my truck untill they could find what was wrong with it. At first it seemed kinda weird and 80 bucks just for them to tell you what is wrong. But I went with it. I dropped my truck off in the morning and waited all day in west asheville. Finally I heard back at 3:00 that there some electrical wire causing some intermitent arch or something. Either way the problem was fixed! I had just spent a ton of money at other shops who were just guessing and throwing parts at my car with my money trying to fix it. The organic mechanic was honest enough to find my problem first and fixing it before they waisted my money. I will take all my vehicles there in the future.

I have never been so ripped off. 700.00 to get a new wiper motor in my car. I searched online and the most expensive new wiper motor for my car was 200.00. Spoke with another mechanic afterwards who would have done the same job for 100.00 total using a used motor. Save yourself some money and walk across the street to Shooks Tire.

WAAAAY overpriced quote for part! They said $550, I found it online for $115. There were also some other very questionable "problems" they discovered, which amounted to another $1800. I paid for the diagnostic and I took my car elsewhere for the work I knew needed to be done.

These guys are in the business of ripping people off "all-naturally."

They tried to rip off my kid who goes to school in Asheville.

A $250 brake pad and rotor job was quoted at $700!!!!!

Surely they can reserve their gouging for lawyers and doctors with deep pockets.

Stay clear of this place.

Who would have thought that someone could "green" an auto repair business. Only in Asheville! We've been going to the Organic Mechanic for a couple of years now and found their service to be good quality and reasonably priced. And they're nice folks as well!
