On "insider pages" reviews, there are some good, and some bad.
I can only say that I had a totally positive experience on our first visit in December 2010. We got an appt. in two days I think and barely waited, not even long enough for me to fill out the forms.
I was with the kids (not quite two and just barely 4) at ALL TIMES. They sat on my lap as I sat in the exam chair for exam and cleaning, and even the same thing for the younger one's x-ray (he had had a playground incident involving his teeth). The hygenist explained it all, let them feel the tools on their hand first and even cleaned Bunny's teeth to show what would happen. They were quick and friendly, and gave a toy when done. Can't say the boys were thrilled but they certainly weren't traumatized. I was very satisfied with the clinic, the staff, and the experience.

I took my daughter there when she was 14 and it was the 1st time in her life that she was comfortable about the dentist.
They treated her very well and even sent her home with a toy for being such a good girl!

My daughter is autistic and doesn't like to be touched at all, let alone in her mouth. This was the 1st time ever that she didn't freak out and actually had a few fillings put in! I was amazed!

I highly recommend this dental office to everyone!

My two boys has been going to small smiles since they where a yr. old. And I never had a problem with this dentist. Just the regular scare all kids have going to any doctors office. They where afraid...but I wanted them to be big boys. I was ALLOWED to go back if I wanted to, during cleaning. But when the sugery part came for fill in's...My hubands sat in the little room where there is a window, where he watched everything that was done. Straps was put on our child also, this was to prevent movement, which was explained to us, before usuage. He was not hurt, and was also given "laughing gas". I would recommend this dentist...you just have to know your kids. SN: Younger children always require an adult UNLESS they go alone, older children (the ones that supposed to be able to go alone) like 6 and up, are the ones they ask for the parents to sit out. Because this is to show the kids thats its the same thing w/o mommie and daddy. My five yr. old goes alone...and he's 5!

We had a completely satisfactory experience with Small Smiles. When my daughter went in for her cleaning, my husband went in with her. She needed a filling, and when we went back for her filling I went back with her. They were very patient, and when she told them she could still feel pain after the novacaine the dr immediately stopped and gave her more, waiting until she felt comfortable before going on. The dental assistants were all very calm and cheerful with her also. I should add that my daughter is 11, and all the other comments I've read are about younger children.

I was not allowed in the back with my two children, which should have been my first clue. Hospitals require that all minors have an adult present at all times. There is a good reason for this, and why a medical office of any kind would refuse a parent being present is beyond me. They capped half of my sons baby teeth, capped one of my daughters, filled a cavity, and sealed a tooth. My daughter was completely traumatized, because they forcibly strapped her down and would not allow her to see me. Had I been present I could have prevented the trauma they caused my 7 year old. My son came out of the office looking like a gangster with his new grill. For the next six months my children brushed their teeth day and night fearing the worst at the next dental check up. After six months I brought them back. They told me my son needed four or five more caps. I asked how that was possible. He had been brushing his teeth twice a day, and he was cut back to almost no candy. She said he wasn't getting enough fluoride. Now I knew she was lying. My son drinks city supplied tap water like it is going out of style. I knew he was getting plenty of fluoride. So, I let them schedule an appointment for his caps, and I never brought my kids back there again. I saw on the news tonight that they are investigating several of these clinics. They have been accused of strapping children without cause until they soil themselves, doing unnecessary dental work, charging for work that was never done, one clinic has even caused the death of a child, because he was strapped down so tightly they didn't realize they had given him too much anesthetic. Please do not let this happen to your child.Note:this website requires you to give at least one star. They don't even deserve that...

Took my 2 yr old son to small smiles for some dental work. Everything was fine, they explained their procedure and took my son to the back for some x-rays and a cleaning,(note to parents YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE BACK WHERE THEY DO THE X-RAY'S AND CLEANING!!!)When it was over and i see them carring my son i knew something was wrong,as soon as the door opened my son JUMPED out of the asst arms and in to mine screaming and crying.(Mind you my son is only 2yrs old)so think about what i'm saying) aparently they forced my son in the chair and held him down to do the x-rays and cleaning,I could tell he was very scared and his eyes wher the size of a quater.I asked what happened and all the asst would say is everything went fine.so we left..Not to return at all.The next day i was talking to a lady at bi-lo about what happened at small smiles,(She said took her daughter there and experienced the samething.when her daughter was done she was TERRORIZED from the ordeal.needless to say she will never return to small smiles.I have talked to other parents WHO WILL NOT RECOMMENED small smiles to anyone. What's so funny about this is my son was NEVER scared of his own doctor and after the experiance he had at small smiles he is alway's asking me everyday (DADDY I DON'T HAVE TO GOTO THE DOCTOR'S DO I)i'm scared of the doctor. He will be tramatized for a long time.
