The restaurant has a nice atmosphere but it is not worth the time nor money.\r
\r
I ordered the Tilapia which was unedible and extremely overcooked with no flavor at all. I then ordered a coke and had a refil, yet the place charged me $5

Sexy in the City...Very nice chic spot for birthdays, GNO, or just something simply different from the norm. Visited Divan's with our monthly restaurant group. Although the group was a little hesitant being that this is a "Hookah Lounge"

I go to Divan at least once a week. My girlfriends and I really enjoy the food and the bartender, Lala, makes incredible drinks! The atmosphere is fun and social. Try the Sangria that Lala makes. It's delicious!!

What a fun place, my wife and I always eat at Divan. I love the atmosphere. It reminds me of a small version of Buddha Bar. It is cozy and very romantic. The food is superb and the service is great.

Who knew Buckhead was so cool!!!? From the second we walked in the door, Divan reminded us of cool spots of San Francisco. This place has a very cool vibe, it is upscale, and has excellent food and service. The host was also extremely nice and friendly. We didn't have a reservation. And, he tried to get us a table on a busy Saturday night. We had to wait about an hour for our table. The host brought us a couple of drinks on the house which was a very nice gesture.
Overall I intend to go back there soon. Of course, I will make a reservation ahead next time.

I frequent Divan because it is such a cool place! I was there last saturday with a group and everyone had a great time! The waitresses are not only attractive but extremely helpful, we had different girls check on us several times throughout the evening even though we werent their table. The food is amazing, the kabobs are reasonable and good portions, deserts are incredible.

I found that when ONE disgruntal guest has a semi bad experience they will lash out like the prior reviews.....its probably the same person writing over and over again.

YES, there is a dress code, but come on, this is a nice place and most places like this will not let you in with shorts and flip flops and it seems people would know that if they are going out on a special occasion. The staff is amazing, they will sit at your table and talk to your whole group about whatever is going on, they will even give you their personal numbers to call them directly next time you want to come in and reserve a table!

My first thought when arriving at Divan was "Is this a Brothel or a restaurant?" but after entering the house I realized that all the prostitutes must be downstairs. The atmosphere is my biggest complaint other than the rude bar tender and wait staff. My boyfriend took me for my birthday and it was awful. Him not getting layed that night is the direct fault of this snobby "restaurant". I'm not even sure what to call it because the food was in small portions and tasteless. If you ever want to get layed again don't take your girl or anyone to this place!

First off the restaurant itself looked like a shack in the middle of piedmont. It was raining outside, and we didn?t want to pay for valet parking, so we were made walk in the rain. The host was rude and condescending and the waitress seemed to be high on something. She seemed spaced out and talked in a baby voice. The only thing going for her was looks which is probably why she was hired. When we stated that we did not have a reservation, the host looked at us with such scorn that I thought he was going to explode. They put our group (it was my best friends birthday) at this cramped little table away from everything. I was practically on top of my friend...they need to get bigger tables. No one was in the place at all?I mean they could have given us a better table. The atmoshere was horrendous. We didn?t even get to try their food (which I imagine would be horrible since the restaurant itself smelled like sh*t) because we got kicked out for wearing shorts. It was 80 degrees outside and were in atlanta!! Were in a recession for Christ?s sake, these people need to learn how to treat potential customers right instead of acting like pretentious snobs.
This place was the absolute worst restaurant I have ever been to in my entire life. I would rather die a thousand fiery deaths than ever be dragged to that hole again!! Go to Darvish on mansell, that place is awesome! DOWN WITH DIVAN!!!

the staff was very rude to me and my party. Also it was my birthday and no free dessert. Our waitress was really stuck up just like the rest of the staff. I took rudeness to be the theme of the whole place. oh yeah there is a dress code so make sure not to wear anything comfortable.

Overall, I don't think I would recommend anyone to go to this place!

We took a buddy that had never done the hookhah before and he was pretty impressed with it. Our server recommended the long islands and they were great, she said the guy that was bartending was one of the best they have, no arguements. Service was awesome our server was really nice and sat and talked with us a little, come to find out she goes to the GSU with us. We would recommend this place for college students looking for a cool place to hang and have great drinks.

Although the service was lacking (very slow and uncaring), we had a wonderful dinner (celebrating a birthday) and romantic evening. Divan has very good food, and the atmosphere is indeed cozy. Make sure you do not wear a short dress or skirt because the tables are very low to the floor! Divan's interior decor is beautiful, with pillows, fabrics, and low lighting, it is a great date spot. I will return just to have the Duck Leg Confit appetizer again. The duck is some of the best in Atlanta. It is seasoned just right with a mix of cilantro, sage oil, and blackberries. It falls right off the bone and is not too soggy, the boyfriend loved it and he is not a regular fan of duck. The Six Spice Potatoes are pretty good, they have a spicy little kick. We had the Shish and Lamb Kabobs for dinner. The meat could have used a little more spice but the delicious basmati and saffron rice made up for it. We skipped dessert and ordered the strawberry flavored hookah which was fun. It was a pricey date, but worth it, we will definitely return to Divan for another fun night and to try more of the cuisine.

We recently visited Divan again on 3/6/09 and it was wonderful! Again, they have the best duck ever! I can not describe to you how delectable the Duck Leg Confit starter is. This time the service was much better, from the hosts to the actual server. We were very well taken care of! Divan has some of the best food around. If you like seafood the Tilapia dish is well prepared. There are so many delicious flavors infused in one. The fish is cooked perfectly, tender in the inside and full of flavor and just the right amount of crispiness on the outside. I have never liked the taste of dill, but on this fish dish it is just right. The shish kabobs this time around were also delicious. We can not wait to go back to Divan and probably will for every special occasion!

We celebrated my husband's suprise 40th birthday at Divan - we rented a private room upstairs. We felt like royalty and the food was exquisite. Every one of my thirty-odd guests asked me how I found out about such a wonderful place.

Each course of food left my guests wanting more and my husband was totally blown away by both the food and the service. We enjoyed every minute of it. When we left, there were people lining up at the door to get in - the place was buzzing....

Max, the manager was an excellent host - thank you for making it a night to remember!!

My boyfriend and I went to Divan just for some apps, drinks & to smoke a hookah. Well, we were so impressed by the food and service! We ordered the goat cheese appetizer, and it was incredible! We also got some desserts, the chocolate cake and the panna cotta. The chocolate cake was a molten lava cake that was so yummy. It was rich, chocolatey and very satisfying. The vanilla panna cotta with figs went well with it, since it was light and very flavorful. They have new hookah flavors now like cosmopolitan, white grape & fuzzy navel. I loved the cosmopolitan hookah. My pomegranate martini went really well with everything. It was a fun dining experience. We can't wait to go back!

The first time there last Saturday - recommended by a reletive. We were celebrating my wifes birthday. Greeted at the door by a nice lady - asked if we had reservations - which we did. Asked if we were celebrating any special occasion - obviously said yes - my wifes birthday. After seated in a really cool spot, we were approached by the GM as we were giving our orders. He said he understood there was a birthday girl in our party and like he already knew her - wished my wife a happy birthday and asked the server after we finished our dinner, to get us a complimentary dessert platter of our choice. A+++ Very relaxed atmosphere - our server was great - very on top of everything - I am not much of a martini drinker but their selections and recommendations were perfect. Actually all in all it was a first time experience for a few of us never having hookahs and not being martini drinkers - so a surprise all the way around. The music was fun - and we could hear each other which was nice not to be blown away as you get in alot of restaurants. Later , the GM came back and checked up on us - extremely professional. From the time we came in to the time we left - we had great service, good food, great drinks, tasty hookahs and most importantly, my wife had a great birthday! Thank you all for making our visit a great experience! You now have a bunch of new people that will be stopping by more often!

A group of friends and I celebrated my 33rd birthday at Divan this past weekend, and every one us totally enjoyed the experience. The location is prime, in buckhead. The restaurant itself is a cool, funky, energetic house with several dining/living room areas that create a comfy private space for several different parties to socialize. The decor and vibe is really sexxy, contemporary and middle eastern. The foods and pom martini's were delish. The Hookah, and I am a non-smoker, was really cool. We all tried the Hookah in three different flavors which was a nice add-on to an already unique experience. The manager, Max, was very accomodating as were the servers that tended to us. With the exception of one server, I believe her name was Sherrina - unorganized, mildly snotty, unattentive, I would definitely do Divan again and again.

My wife and I celebrated my birthday this past Saturday night. Loved everything about this place: the ambiance, the food, the martinis, and the service. This was our first time there, and our server was an excellent guide - she answered our questions about the food, hookahs and drinks like we were dining at her home. Try the Cosmopolitan hookah (tastes just like the drink!), and the combination Mezza platter can't be beat, as well as the lamb & chicken kabobs. The staff was friendly, professional, gracious and eager to please. Go there for a truly wonderful and unique dining experience for dinner, or just go to relax, have a few drinks & hookahs! 5 out of 5 stars!

My friends and I have been coming to this place for about 2 years now and still love it. The prices have definitely gone up and it's become harder to find seating now, but the hookah and the pomegranate martinis are amazing. I definitely agree with the customer service, if you come on a busy night... or even a slow night. Expect everything to take forever. Seriously, you might want to order two drinks at a time, because your not getting that second drink right away. I still think that it might be worth it because of the atmosphere, but I'm trying to figure that out.

Divan is a hookah bar and lounge. A week ago, my husband and I stopped in to celebrate his promotion. We were thouroughly impressed with the food and especially the service. I have never been greeted with such warmth and hospitality. Anyone who has a bad experience in this resturaunt must have been extremely discourtious to the staff. EVERY employee that my husband and I came into contact with showed genuine concern for our enjoyment and an extreme sense of pride in what they do. Thank you Divan for making our evening so wonderful.

Went to this place for dinner with friends and it was a horrible experience. We had a private room upstairs as we were 11 people. Although we had reservations, the server was definitely not prepared. Had the worst service I have ever experienced here in the States. Sherrinna, the server was clueless. We asked her a few questions about several dishes from the menu and she had no idea. At one point as I was sipping on the Turkish coffee I even asked her what was in it just to test her knowledge on something as simple as coffee, and she had no clue; she actually replied ?it?s just Arabic coffee, but I don?t know what?s in it.? At no point did she offer to ask her manager or perhaps another server, just shrugged it off and left. How idiotic. Needless to say, when the bill came, I asked to have the automatically added-on gratuity removed. Although I believe in generous tipping, this was definitely fair for her lack of concern and knowledge. She should get a job at McDonald?s where no one will ask ?what?s in the fries?. My group also had to ask for extra plates and knives, for which we waited a while to receive. I left the room at one point to see where our air-headed server was, as she had not come to check on us for more than 25 minutes, and she was downstairs smoking a hookah without a care in the world. I understand it?s relaxing, but she?s there to work, or is she??? The tilapia was delicious, but too bad my stomach was churning with nerves in the end. I wish the service would have been better; perhaps my memory of the decor, food, and ambiance would not be shaded at this point. This entire experience just left a bad taste in everyone?s mouth. If I EVER set foot in this establishment again, I will request to be served by the Manager himself. No more ditzy servers to ruin what could otherwise be a joyous evening.

Pros: Great ambiance, food was delicious

Cons: WORST SERVICE EVER

The atmosphere was unique and the food was delicious. Unfortunately, the atmosphere and the food could not make up for the bad customer service. Although we had reservations, the staff was unprepared. We waited an unreasonable time for our food (almost an hour) while some of us didn't even get some of the stuff we ordered. The servers were not courteous enough to apologize for the delay or to keep us updated on the status of our order. Moreover, we waited at least a half hour for our checks, after which we waited another half hour or so to get our credit cards back. it is unfortunate that the servers were too rude to treat us with respect and the manager was too uninterested to resolve the delay. Delicious food is great, but good customer service is a must! Unfortunately, they failed in that respect.

The atmosphere was unique and the food was delicious. Unfortunately, the atmosphere and the food could not make up for the bad customer service. Pros: Food, atmosphere, parking

Cons: CUSTOMER SERVICE

.

The food and atmosphere were exceptional, but customer service was the worst I have seen in a long time. Food was NOT delivered in a timely fashion (the least to say), and paying was a nightmare!! Not only did it take 30 min to bring the tabs, but after taking another 30 min to run the payments, the waitress comes back with wrong receipts, missing credit cards, and messed up orders. When asked to speak to a manager she replied "No, I will deal with you later"-- Again, I enjoyed the atmosphere , but I would think twice about handing over my credit card info to such place. No one was courteous about the fact that a regular dinner turned into a 3 hr nightmare!! Needless to say, I would not be dining there again, nor do I recommend this place to anyone who expects decent service.

Divan is such a unique restaurant. The decor was extremely unique and romantic - there really is nothing like it. There was a bunch of art everywhere, the restaurant was made to look artistic. Not a smoker of any kind, the concept of eat, drink, and smoke was cool. By suggestion of our server, we ordered the Earl Gray MarTEAni, which was excellent, Almaza beer, the Shish Kebobs, the Lamb Shank (which was amazing) and the grape hookah. My date and I had a fantastic time.

Having just moved to the Atlanta from SF, I was very happy to find Divan. I loved the patio, the decor, the service and quality of food). You just need to be here once to want to go back. I have come to know the staff at Divan quite well who are all very good at what they do. I will go back and recommend this place to everyone, and oh yeah the food is the best too (try the Lamb Kebobs, the Mazza platter and the Pomegranate sorbet)

Yuuu-um! oh man, did I have a great meal at Divan! On a busy Saturday night, I went with my husband on our anniversary, got in a big ol' maza platter, Lamb Kabobs, and short ribs, and STILL enjoyed every bite of my meal. I was ignoring my husband and concentrating on eating, so I got a good chance to really investigate my food and concentrate on how delicious it was. The bottle of wine was a knock-out! First time hookah smoker. It was very smooth and fun. Our experience at Divan was very positive and unique. We will come back with more of our friends.

We went to Divan again last Friday night. We normally order our standard Hummos, Goat Cheese and Chicken Kabobs. This time we wanted to try something new. We ordered their new eggplant dish, feta and herb salad and the lamb chops. The food was exceptionally well prepared and delicious. As far as price goes dinner, bottle of wine, salad, and an appetizer, cost us less than 70.00 dollars. My wife and I have traveled the world and we believe Divan is better than any restaurant we have dined in.

I liked the food there a lot... but it was more of appetizer like. I went with a big group so we all ordered a few meals and shared. Everything we ordered was good. It has a fun environment, but i was dissappointed cause when i went it was late night however, upstairs there was no bellydancer or entertainment.

There really needs to be more places like Divan. Not many places in Atlanta feature indoor/outdoor dining, fantastic desserts, great drinks, awesome service, and late night hours all packed into one. The food were fantastic, the lamb kabobs tantalized my palette while I tried some of their fantastic drinks unique to the house. The bartenders and waitstaff were nice and hospitable and the prices were suitable for the quality of food/drinks. With the very romantic set up and dim lights it is surely one of the more accommodating venues available in Atlanta. This is a must stop for anyone coming through Atlanta on a weekend. Not too overpriced... It can get real crowded during the weekends, I've always loved Divan for their service, hours, and foods.

Being a regular at Divan for the past 2 months, I can say this place is great. Beside the amazing arts, dim lights, candles, friendly service, beautiful crowed, tasty martinis, and hookahs, is their delicious food. Try the Spinakopita, Lamb chops, and chicken kabobs. It has never failed me.

OK, let me first say that I wasn't sure what to expect because I had read some mixed reviews on Citysearch but pay no attention to those! Kelvin, our server, was fabulous and made some great recommendations which we thoroughly enjoyed. The Pomegranate Martini was a bit sweet for our taste but still objectively good. The Turkish beer is excellent! As for the lamb and short ribs we ordered, very good. We are very picky so I can't say it as the absolute best food but the overall experience was really great. We sat in the lounge vs the upstairs dining room. It was very good for people watching. Very romantic, too. Our Hookah choice was the Double Apple and was just great! We enjoyed Pistachio Cannoli and Turkish Coffee ice cream for dessert. We preferred the Cannoli over the ice cream. If you don't like spice in your coffee, don't order the Persian Coffee. The Turkish Coffee would probably have been a better choice for us. But, all in all, this was a great experience and I would highly recommend taking someone there for a unique dining experience. Sort of like Imperial Fez does but the Hookah was really cool. Loved that!!

Pros: Cool concept, great atmosphere

Cons: If you won't smoke the Hookah, don't bother. It's the coolest part of the evening.

I had heard many good things about Divan, and since going there, I have found that they are true! I had a wonderful experience. The atmospher, the service and the food was superb--I had the warm Goat Cheese, Pita Pizza and Lamb Kabobs. Everything was presented elegantly and promptly. What I like the most about Divan is that after the food you can stay and smoke a hookah and relax.

My date and I visited Divan on a week night. The atmosphere, the art , the hookah smoking, and the candle lights were very romantic and exotic. The food was superb. Try the lamb kabobs, yummy yummy. Our waitress was very nice and did not rushed us during our dinner. She was very helpful in suggesting the items that we were not familiar with. Over all, I had a great time at this restaurant.

I am a regular visitor of Divan. I took a first date there on Friday night. 1st of all if you are taking a date make sure you have a reservation. It is hard to get a table on weekends. We had a bottle of Pinot Noir and warm goat cheese as an appetizer. I had the roasted lamb chops and my date had the short ribs. For dessert we shared a pomegranate Creme Brulee, strawberry hookah, and Turkish coffee. As a world traveler, who knows a lot about Middle Eastern culture and food, Divan is just a good restaurant, where you can relax and get some amazing food. But, for my date, the experience was out of this world. We opened up our conversation about food, wine, and culture of the Middle East. I felt like, I had a lot to say about the culture and food while we were smoking the hookah. Long conversation on the first date is always a good sign and Divan is the spot for it.

We went to Divan past Saturday night to celebrate my birthday with a large group of friends. We had a few drinks at the bar where the bartender suggested Pomegranate Martini which were delicious. We got to sit at the long sofa which was so much fun because the group next to us also having a birthday party were so nice and also having a good time. Loved that we could order a whole bunch of mezes and appetizers and try a little of everything. Everything that we tried was just full of flavor. It was a fun start of the night and a great birthday party. Thank you Divan for offering my group flavorful meal, Great wine, nice ambience and warm service. This restaurant is such a treat!

I had a bachelorette party for this past weekend and it was wonderful. We tried the mazza platter and many other menu items such as Seard Tuna and Chicken Kabob which was delicious. An incredible amount of delicious food for the $25 set menu. They have good selection of Turkish, and Lebanese beer and wine you should try. Don't forget to try the Grape Hookah. Great atmosphere. Great for dates or small groups

I guess I should start by saying I don't even know how I ended up there. My buddy who was driving wanted us to check out a place next door which we did and then stopped in here to check it out. We decided to stay and I am actually glad we did because that is when the journey started. As we scanned the room downstairs when we walked in, we noticed people sitting on couches and comfy seats and they were toking on something. We thought, what in the world is this all about. The host greeted us and explained to us what Hookah was all about. It was described basically as a type of tobacco that you add a scent or flavoring to it. There were around 20 different ones to choose from. He also told us that their liquor license had expired and that they only had non alcholic drinks available which was actually fine with us. So, we ordered two waters and a Mango Hookah. Not being a smoker of anything, it was not a great experience for me but it was an interesting one. It seemed to have a calming effect on everyone as we watched people simply chilled out carrying on conversations about just about everything. My buddy liked it a little more but we both wished we had tried a different scent because ours was like an Air Freshner. So, I would recommend everyone to try such a place at least once and simply chill out.

Went to divan on Friday night with some friends and walked into an essentially empty restaurant. Apparently the liquor license has been suspended (we heard a lovely explanation) so we asked the waiter for water and received $1.75 bottles of Nestle. Because of the spinach scare, a few of the menu items were unavailabe so the options were severly limited. The place was empty (I think I know why) and the service was horribly slow. One positive note is that the food I ordered was delicious (tuna and brie tapas) and filling for the price. I hope the place gets its act together.

The hookahs were great and the shape of the rooms allow for some great people watching but our server put a damper on the evening. He would leave our table in the middle of an order to go sit at a table with some friends and when we did get our order in it was anyones guess if we ever received it or if it was the correct drink. The tabs are have gratuity already added even on the smallest group so i guess you cant expect the server to care about his service.

Great atmosphere, best for a small group or couple. No belly dancers any more because neighbors complained and entertainment license was revoked. Watch the tab because the pomogrante martini's (as delicious as they are) really add up. Shots are also more expensive. Grape and Apple tobacco are recommended. Chocolate cheesecake is fabulous.

Divan is an energizing relief to all the yuppified dining options in Atlanta. The decor and atmosphere are genuinely Middle-Eastern. The food is delicious, though of small portion. The music is superb. But the best part is that you are connected with everyone. It is hard not to mingle in this relaxed atmosphere that frequently includes a couple doumbek drummers who add energy to an already great evening.
