I had a horrible experience at the Chocolate Bar. My friends and I (all over the age of 22) were there for drinks and dessert. One friend did not have her id but said it was fine not to drink. The rest of us ordered drinks and were carded.

I've never been happier with a restaurant experience. The service was quick, and the drinks are absolutely sublime. I would recommend it to anyone!

My husband took me here for our anniversary. He had the chocolate beer shake which we both enjoyed. Something you would not think tastes anything good but in fact tasted very delicious.

The atmosphere was very romantic (in the back area). The waitress was very helpful and knew what to recommend when asked questions.

I always recommend this place to anyone who wants to try something different.

FIrst, it's hard to get a 5 star from me. Those are reserved for really the best of the best. This place is pretty good though.
We stopped in after a dissappointing night at Modesto (not recommended).
We were seated quickly, had a large group, and the hostess was VERY KIND to do everything she could do to accomodate us on a busy Saturday Night: A+
The 3 items I tried were a banana bread split, a flourless molten chocolate cake with coffee ice cream, and the bread pudding. All 3 were fabulous. A+
I enjoyed a couple of great cups of coffee with Baileys, and tried my wife's martini which was some kind of milk chocolate martini - fantastic. Yummy. They could get you in big trouble.
The atmosphere was trendy, electric, and really fun. Nice little spot in Lafayette square.
Our waitress was extremely nice and very attentful. Never made us feel like we were putting her out. Thank you for that.
Really enjoyed our night cap and will for sure be back again. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Pros: Ambience. Service. Food / Drinks

Cons: None. (Although be prepared this isn't Dairy Queen prices)

I have been here three times and loved every visit! The desserts are to die for, and the drinks are fabulous The atmosphere is amazing year round! In the summer you can relax on the patio and enjoy the night's breeze, and then when it gets cooler outside you can sit next to a fire and warm up with you drinks. It's a great place to go on a date, or a fun place for friends to relax! It is pricey, but like Karen said, completely worth every dollar!

I've been here twice and the atmosphere is awesome! The dark red walls contrasting the other features of the restaurant evoke emotion in a regular dining experience. Fresh roses on each place make the place smell great. Cookies are your nice little appetizer and the desserts are to die for. They are expensive, but it's worth it.

Excellent place for dessert or sandwiches. We go here after a game or after going to the Muny. Wonderful chocolate and other desserts that just melt in your mouth. Atmosphere is great and prices are about average - 6-10.

Me and two of my friends went to St. Louis on a college trip circa 2004. In short, whenever we get together and travel we STILL talk about this place. My friend bought a cheesecake there and took one bite.. pulled the fork out of his mouth and said, "I do believe this is the best cheesecake I've ever had." I like stout beers and they had a "stout beer float" that was surprisingly good. Basically, this place specializes in alcoholic drinks and deserts, which is a strange combination that they somehow get to work well. They also played a bunch of music that I had never heard before but I really liked EVERY SINGLE song. Our waitress was hot and as nice as she could be. I don't know if it was just a good night for them, or if they're always like that, but if I ever return to St. Louis I WILL go back to Bailey's. If I ever move to St. Louis I'll make sure I live within walking distance. I normally don't gush about places, but it really was a great experience there. It would be an ABSOLUTELY PERFECT place to take a date.

Pros: awesome desserts, creative menu, friendly staff.. very "intimate" and trendy place.

Cons: slightly expensive, but well worth it.

Great atmosphere, awesome service, and overall incredible food and drinks. We went earrlier in the evening at it wasn't crowded...they have patios seating available, too. I highly recommend this place to hang out, eat, or drink great drinks. Not the best if you are really really hungry.

Awesome desserts and drinks!! We stopped here for dessert after dining down the block at Ricardo's. The chocolate bar my wife had and my banana split were incredible. The Dark Chocolate Raspberry Martini I had was awesome. The atomsphere was cozy and very cool. (It was decorated in red and black colors). The service was just ok, though. I think our waitress was overwhelmed with all of her tables, there were only two working our room and the patio. It is in a nice location (Lafayette Square). Parking is where you can find a spot on the street.

Nestled in a hip area, the Chocolate Bar is one of my favorites! Whether you choose to eat pizza there or at another great Lafayette local...SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT! The chocolate martinis are my favorite, but I have spent an evening trying their assortment of fine beers....the Black and Red or the cinnamon beer shake is a must try for the beer lovers.

Sweet and very rich deserts are the mainstay of Bailey's. A quick read through the menu is sure to add a pound.

The beer list is extensive, and the Chocolate Martini's the house signiture. All the deserts are rich and will bring you back. Cheeses and pizza are also available.

This place was really crowded on a Saturday night. We had to sit outside on the back deck, so always have a coat or sweater with you in case. They had the deck closed in with heaters, but there is still a draft. They have good pizza and great desserts. Their sweet chocolate martini is not very sweet, but their rasberry chocolate martini is very sweet! Great beer selection too.

In Short
Cocoa is the poison of choice, gracing nearly everything in the dessert-heavy menu: pies, cakes, tarts, handmade chocolate ice cream and Bailey's famous chocolate bread pudding. Cheese plates and mini-pizzas are…
