We couldn't keep our beloved 5 year old cat due to our young childs allergies. I assumed that all animal shelters were for the most part the same....for the good of the animal. NOT TRUE as I was informed by their staff after they put our cat down instead of adopting him. They said that as a govnt. run shelter, they can't afford to keep the animals around for adoption like a non-profit shelter would. So a perfectly declawed, nuetered, loving house cat was put down instead of adopting. Go on their website to see for yourself.....they usually only have around 5-7 cats and 1-2 dogs in the shelter for adoption. 99% of the ones that come in get euthanised. THEY ARE THERE FOR A JOB, NOT BECAUSE THEY CARE!!! DR. MALBURG FROM NORTH GRATIOT VET CLINIC IS THE VET THAT PUTS THEM ALL TO SLEEP....THIS VET HAS ABSOLUTELY NO ETHICS. AVOID DR. MALBURG AT NORTH GRATIOT VET CLINIC!!!!!

I am outraged at how I was just treated here. I tried to save a stray cat. I brought it in my home and paid to get a checkup at the MAcomb Humaine Society who were very friendly for the record. Turned out the cat was pregnant and tested positive for feline leukemia. It was the sweetest cat and did not ask sick in any way. I already had 2 cats at home and could not risk keeping this one around mine so I made the hardest call knowing they were gonna put this poor cat to sleep. On my way to the shelter I was so upset I ended up on gratiot instead of Groesbeck and barely made it in enough time before closing. I walked in the door and before speaking a word started balling my eyes out. They were so mean to me. The lady asked if it was my cat and I kinda laughed and said no. It was a stray and she tested positive for FLV. Right in front of me called her employee and asked to put this one down now. Grabbed the cat by her neck and walked out of the room with her. All why I was balling. They did not even let me say goodbye. No I am sorry for your loss or Thankyou for trying to save this cat and paying money out of your own pocket!. She just turned and said you can go now. I am in shock at how RUDE this staff was. I am a huge animal lover and have NEVER been treated so badly while losing an animal. I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN!!!!!! I WOULD SUGGEST NO ONE DOES. I will be calling back Monday and speaking to management about how I was treated. The only lesson they tought me was do not try to help stray animals because you will be treated horribly.
