My daughter has tried many different farms for her horse. Windermere is one of them. She found them to be overpriced, had no turnout, and that you were just paying for convenience.

Windermere does offer boarding, training, breeding and riding lessons.

Business Response:

re: OverPriced I am sorry you feel Windermere is overpriced. Our board and lesson prices are comparable to other local facilities which offer the same amenities we do. All of our instructors are experienced adults with years of experience and provide high quality instruction with attention to detail. I do not recognise your name, so I know you have not boarded here. If you have compared our rates to a strictly boarding stable, we probably are 'overpriced', but if you compare our rates to another training stable, we are very reasonable. As for turnout, our facility has 5 grass paddocks, and five dirt turnouts. All dirt turnouts have drains. We are not a large acreage facility, but our horses all are turned out on a daily basis (weather permitting).

I learned to ride at Windermere, beginning at age 11. One of the things that impressed me the most is the fact that the old, bombproof school horses I started on as a kid were still alive, healthy, and living happily in semi-retirement (or complete retirement!) even now (though some have passed on, they lived at windermere until they died). You know a barn is a good barn when they treat their old horses with the respect they deserve. \r\n\r\nEach barn I have ridden at since has always asked me where I learned to ride, and comment that I was taught very well. (one instructor looked at me and said ""well... I really don't have anything to teach you"" lol needless to say I didn't ride at THAT stable very long, because I by no means know everything, but I suppose it's a credit to the instructors at windermere! THEY still had LOTS to teach me) Another great thing: The instructors do things correctly and don't let students move on faster than they should. Everything is done safely and they will teach you everything you need to know to not just be a rider, but a GOOD rider.

Cons: turn out is somewhat limited

Like the people below me said, There are 3 outdoor arenas, and two indoor. Windermere is a highly acceptable stable, I've been riding there since I was seven years old and now I'm going to lease a horse there named Bonnie. Windermere has the BEST trainers! Unlike other riding stables, they don't rush you to anything. If you aren't ready for something they will hold you back and they won't let you move on until you can do something perfect. Because if you don't perfect a certain skill in the beginning, it's very hard to fix later on. Trust me, I have had multiple vices I've had to break but my trainer kept pushing me and pushing me until I got it right. Windermere has AMAZING horses, and one of my favorites... the BEST childrens pony out there, Jiggers! Jiggers got donated to the stable by one of it's riders who had outgrown him. I started riding Jiggers and I fell in love with him, who wouldn't? We competed in several shows together, always taking home a blue ribbon. On Jiggers anything is possible! I was 8 at a show and I was riding Jiggers and I beat a 35 year old and her very own horse. Anything is possible on this pony! Now sadly, I've outgrown him also, and he is currently used as a horse for begginer students. Besides the horses, what about fram animals?! Windermere has 2 cats, Spazz and IForgetTheOtherOne'sName. Now they just got 2 new kittens, Mogley and Lola which are going to be the replacements for Spazz and iForgetHerName. Mogley is the most awsum little barn cat you will find! I wuvv him! Except for the time I had to pull him out of a trash can... he can get a little curious! Anyways, if you are looking for a place to ride, I highly suggest WIndermere! It has fantastic, modern facilities, and the girls at WEC are great influences! When you go to WEC you don't have to worry about cursing, stealing, ...pretty much anything! Horse Riding is also a great way to keep your daughter from growing up and finding an interest in other things such as boys(...cont)
