The Courthouse Caf is a lovely restaurant. My first step into the door brought the ambiance of the early nineteen hundreds; and what was more ironic was my conversation with a waiter who told me the building was built in 1911. Maroon colored brick walls raise skyward as an immaculately patterned ceiling provides shelter during meals.

After a long day of driving through Appalachia, The Courthouse Caf was the perfect place to stop. I arrived during dinner hours and a helpful waiter informed me of the day's special (June 21, 2011) consisting of:
Lime-pepper chicken, asparagus, rice, and black bean salsa...$8.95
Grilled or blackened salmon, asparagus, and rice...$12.95
Rib-eye steak, baked potato or fries, and salad...$12.95
Barbeque ribs, sweet potato fries, and salad...$12.95
Although all those choices sounded quite delicious, I eventually decided to go with the Chicken Marsala (sauted chicken breast topped with fresh mozzarella, sweet marsala wine served over Angel Hair pasta in a garlic cream sauce with diced tomatoes and fresh spinach leaves) served with salad for $9.95. The Chicken Marsala left one delightful taste after another in my mouth. Insync with taste and texture, the vegetables, sauce, and chicken proved to be an excellent dinner. As for dessert I had the Raspberry Scone and Peach Icecream. The chef decorated my dessert plate with powdered sugar, which reminded me of a winter wonderland although it was actually midsummer; it was the perfect answer to the outside heat. All in all, my experience at The Courthouse Caf was amazing and I would definitely return.

One of the nicest things to do when travelin' home to the mountains is to spend a nice quiet evening with friends and family. You never know who you might run into!

Enjoy a good meal (best chicken salad in the world!) and be sure to leave room for desert and coffee. Plan to spend the whole evening enjoying conversation and "catching up".

Give a Josephine a hug for me too.
