Hazellewood grill is always busy at peak lunch and dinner times. Plan to get there early so you can enjoy the atmosphere, food and drink! Always have specials if you can't find something you'd like on their awesome menu! Meats are great! Popovers are delicious! Good sandwiches, too!

We've been going there since they opened. I've tried several items on the menu and can't recall ever being disappointed. The service is great and many of the wait staff have been there since it opened which I think is a sign of a good company that values and respects the importance of talented service staff. Walleye is great and they serve popovers as an appetizer which I haven't had since my grandmother used to make them. They're extremely good! Their breakfast and special buffets for holidays (Mother's Day) are excellent too.

Every time we go out to dinner now we have to try hard not to "just" go back to Hazellewood. When we don't go there we usually feel we paid too much for so-so food.

One minus, the mixed drinks are a little watery but I wouldn't say that's uncommon in any restaurant.

Pros: Great food, local non-chain, service, popovers

Cons: Crowded (go figure) and watered down cocktails.

I have visited Hazellewood Grill 3 times, (pretty good for a city gal), and all 3 meals were excellent. I have to admit I am partial to the walleye, which is served with 2 generous pecan crusted filets with wild rice. The fish was perfectly done and while the wild rice had good flavor, it could use the addition of some julienned carrots, green onion, roasted red peppers and/or chives to add color. My husband had the meat loaf with an unbelieveably good Madiera mushroom sauce and a parmesan chicken with a roasted tomato sauce that was fantastic. Another friend had a perfectly prepared prime rib medium rare, and for those of us who care, it was really medium rare.

The Szechuan green beans are a must have appetizer done crisp/tender with the right amount of heat and sweet. The wine list was good with a decent selection at reasonable prices. I am not a dessert fan, but those at the table who did splurge seemed happy.

This is a solid restaurant with sophistication without stuffiness. It is in the old Copperstein location which was a sentimental favorite of my dearly departed parents. If they add broiled shrimp to the menu, I know my folks would look down from above and smile.

Pros: Food and friendly service

Cons: Sometimes slow on busy nights
