Terrible experience- I have never had such a bad doctor!! She continually asked me to read the smallest I could read and when I told her I could not read the letters, she told me to guess. Then, when she asked which view was clearer and I told her, she kept reminding me that neither of the views would be clear. My eyes have never been so strained in an appt. and she gave me the wrong contact type. When I returned to tell her that I looked online and was given the wrong contacts, she blamed me for the mistake. I will NOT ever be going back- Walmart does a much better job.

Concluded a horrible experience at Shopko Optical in Grafton. Earlier in the week my contact lens to my left eye had ripped and proceeded to scratch and irritate my eye all day long. This pair of lenses happened to be my last ones so that afternoon after work I drove directly to Shopko Optical to get a replacement lens from them in an effort to replace the damaged lens at least until I had time to receive a new order of contacts. If only it had been that simple.

Upon first arriving I was met with skepticism and questioning by the receptionist, Shana, in regards to how much pain and discomfort I was really experiencing. Then she proceeded to lecture me in the importance of proper cleaning techniques and yearly check-ups after finding out I hadn't been in for an exam in quite some time........granted, this is all very good information, but information I don't care to hear while standing in front of her with a bloodshot eye which is surrounded by redness. She went on to explain that she wouldn't give me a replacement contact lens for my eye because my perscription was over a year old and I would have to wait 2 days until I could get in for an updated exam (Explain this Logic- It's apparently more damaging to wear a contact lens with an old perscription than it is to wear a ripped contact lens for 2 days as it continually scratches and irritates your eye). When I asked Shana this very question she began to snicker, became very sarcastic and just overall very unprofessional. I made an appointment and was told that only after a proper exam would I receive a trial pair of lenses to replace the damaged contact, for this I would have to wait 48 hours, wearing said lens the entire time (my glasses give me headaches or I simply would have worn them during this period). I later found out that there is a soothing eye drop product that they had at the office that could have been offered to me that afternoon in place of the requested lens... Shana never even offered it to me. Shana's lack of sensitivity and complete unprofessionalism was not only a shock to my expectations but a very rude awakening as to how Shopko's employees are trained and prepped in customer care.

At the appointment Dr. Doorman noticed my long absence from yearly exam's and once again I was treated to a lecture on said topic. (Thanks, but I'm a grown man, I will decide what is right for my body and deal with the consequences). Dr. Doorman also spoke to me like I was a child throughout the appointment and seemed to hold a negative opinion of me before I had even met her.

Overall, Shopko Optical in Grafton is very adequate in menial and common tasks (booking appointments, cleaning your eye glasses) that require very little common sense, thinking outside the box, or any type of problem solving skills. Shopko Optical is dangerously inadequate in servicing their customers in a true time of need. I would recommend their service to no one interested in appropriate, professional, and respectful customer service.
