Even the pickiest of eaters can eat here. Since you pick out your own meat, veggies, and sauce you can pretty much come up with anything. And there is a big selection of each. The only negative thing is that because the food is so good and popular the lines to have your food cooked tend to be long. But I think it's worth the wait

Hu Hot has a great selection of different foods and combinations of sauces to make a diverse concoction of food each time you go up. I see that people continue to think it is a buffet, which it is not. A buffet has luke warm food under a heat lamp. All the food is fresh and waiting for you to chose and then it is cooked to order. A buffet doesn't have servers either, Hu Hot has a server staff. I see complaints of less choices for meats and vegetables but if everything has to be fresh why not go with the cheaper options as well the popular ones. If only one out of 50 guests wants alligator why waste the companies money. Sweat in the food is not appealing I'll agree, but it is really hot by the grill. It gets up to about 200 degrees minimum around the grill for the cooks. At most restaurants you just can't see the cooks, these restaurants do pass health inspections but so does Hu Hot.

I used to go to Hu-Hot a couple times every week when they first opened. I filled my free meal card more times than I can count.
They did used to have better options at times, (alligator meat, shrimp, baby corns, etc...) that were exciting, but I don't ever see them anymore. They have always been extremely busy at mealtimes, but don't seem as capable of effectively handling it as they used to. I always get there by 11:30am, because if you dare go at noon, you're in for a long haul. It could take 1 1/2 hours from waiting to be seated, to going thru the buffet lines, getting your food cooked and then finally eating it. Don't even think of going back for seconds, which you can do, simply because it takes TOO LONG!!!

The taste of your food is quite individual, based on what you choose, and the sauces (and how much sauce) you put in it. I usually love the flavors, and the textures make it fun to eat.
I used to look forward to going there UNTIL one of my close friends went there and was disgusted at how the cooks were dripping sweat into the food on the grills. It's very hot around the grill, and this completely revolted me.

I used to like Hu-Hot very much. Now it's a big, sweaty waiting game. I gave it 3 stars because I really like the food, and it's very filling. The service has gone by the wayside. Too bad!

My wife and I enjoyed our first trip to HuHot, and wanted to take my parents there during the 4th of July weekend. Because it was a holiday weekend, I called ahead to make sure they were open, and were told they would be well after the time we would arrive. However, when we showed up, the doors were simply locked -- no signs up of any kind, and we could still see people eating inside. After waiting around a minute to try and figure out what was up, some customers came out and my party went in. We were then told that the restaurant had closed early "due to not enough customers coming in." Despite the fact that I had been told by an employee that the restaurant would be open for another two hours, no effort was made to fix the situation. I wrote a letter to the manager and sent a complaint via their website; neither was returned. If this is how they treat their customers, I am telling anyone and everyone to avoid going to the HuHot in Appleton. Apparently they don't understand the concept of customer satisfaction.

Pros: The food was enjoyable on my first visit.

Cons: The second visit has made me never want to return.

I wasn't impressed with HuHot. My stirfry was extremely greasy and the server seemed to be in another world. I'm not a stirfry person I admit I was dragged their by my wife.

The "New" Mongolian BBQ place is now Hu Hot. The old place is Mongo's. Mongo's is gone, for whatever reason, which is a terrible shame. Maybe Mongo's could've expanded to Darboy, the Mall area, or Greenville, and had success. Don't discount that, as if somebody does, they'd make a mint.

Hu Hot does things OK. They did things better when they were new, but have slacked since. For instance, they used to have Snow Peas, and Pea Pods. They now just "go to WalMart" and get a big bag of peas and pour them for us to scoop up. They used to have "stick-style" carrots, but the local mgt. has gotten the Wally-World carrot rounds. The meats they use are sub-par, and cook up terribly bad, whether it's chicken, beef, or pork.

Hu Hot doesn't have enough staff for any lunchtime, and not enough cooks.

Asian Garden buffet is looking better as Mongolian in ATW. Hu Hot needs help!!!
