I've taken my dogs to Crawford for 26 years. Some of them had very severe illness'. Every time the doctors treated them with the best care. If they didn't know something, they researched to find the best treatment. They very successfully repaired the ACL's on two of my hunting dogs. All vets are expensive , Crawford is about average in their charges, but above average in their care.

Pirates? Scum? Please take your pet to Crawford at least once before believing some of these reviews. If you want a vet that goes above and beyond to answer questions, return phone calls, care for your pet with compassion--that's Crawford. I've seen Dr. Hoyer for my cat and Dr. Baker saw my Golden R. for years.

Dr. Hoyer has gotten Cleo through many ups and downs. She recommended blood work for her once because she was losing weight and guess what! She's diabetic and needed to be on insulin. For all of the nay-sayer's on here about labwork--how are vets supposed to know what your pet needs without knowing he/she inside and out? Crawford sends all of there bloodwork out to a lab--it isn't them charging you an arm and a leg, it's the lab!!!!! Anyway, it's good that I spent the $159 on Cleo because she's alive today thanks to Dr. H!!!!

Dr. Baker was Tucker's vet for his whole life, (he loves a Golden!!! If you have one, he's your vet no question!) and when I finally decided his quality of life wasn't there, Dr. B was there for us once again. I swear he was as teared up as I was!!! He will also work around your financial needs, and gives estimates in visits so you know what you'll pay for ahead of time. That's how much he cares about your pet getting what it needs!!!!

That's the kind of love for pets the Crawford vets have for animals!!!! They are knowledgable, kind, and will care a great deal for your pets!!!

excellent care for all of my cats for over 25years. They saved the lives a few with acute and chronic diseases. Staff is friendly and concerned about the family as well as the pet. Highly recommend

I have been taking my cat to Crawford for 2 years. I have always found them to be kind and responsive. If I call I do not have to wait to speak with the dr. I found their pricing comparitive to other vets I have been to. Not overpriced as I've seen on other posts.

I have mixed feelings about Crawford. Dr. S. is one of the kindest persons I have ever met. The staff was great. They took good care of all my animals. But the last time I went to get routine care for one cat ---the suggestion was-- get this lab, that lab, this shot, that shot. I do not think all of it was necessary.

I agree with "Think About" it's all about racking up the money.

After I spent $400 on normal procedures to neuter one cat the other cat had severe ear mites. I knew they were ear mites, everyone I know who knows animals knew this, all my research told me they were ear mites.

Before I ever entered the clinic with my cat the asssistant, per phone conversation, was stating-- I need this lab, blood tests, etc., etc. Before even knowing what it was I would have to spend $200.

I talked with numberous animal people and I am still treating him on my own. They are very persistent yet I know I do not need all this lab work, just give me the meds to treat my cat. It should be about REALLY helping the animal, not their pocketbook.

I realize they have costs to cover but the mission should be "Animals First."

Helping animals is not their prime concern. I believe they concentrate on affluent clients and bilk them dry. Unfortunate.

I am very displeased with Crawford Animal Hospital. I have a small yorkie and he was making funny noises when he was really excited. I brought him to vet to have him check him out. I thought that it could be collapsed trachea and the vet asked me a couple of questions and then ordered x-rays and blood work and sent us home with pills that cost $3/each. ( I found them online from multiple websites for under 50 cents each. So why so much there?) I went home and did some research online and found out that it could just be reverse sneeze. RS is very common in little dogs and is not a threat to their health. To determine if it is reverse sneeze you palpate the throat. If no reaction when they make the honking sounds you plug their nose. If that stops it, you have reverse sneeze. No need for meds, blood work or expensive x-rays. I also found out that the meds he gave us could cause trauma to trachea. So the meds are actually damaging to little dogs. When I called the doctor about it he suggested that I blow in his nose to help him stop the reverse sneezing. WHICH MEANS he was well aware of the possibility of reverse sneeze and instead of recommending I try the two methods to determine RS he charged me $320 on services I didn't need!!!! When I told our groomer and doggie daycare people they all agreed that I should never go there again. Crawford is all about racking up the bill not the pet!!!!

THINK AGAIN BEFORE BRINGING YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS HERE!!!

Crawford was recommended to us by a neighbor when we adopted our first dog. As this was our first pet, we didn't know what to expect of a vet's office. We found the waiting area to be crowded and chaotic nearly every time we were there. We would most often have to wait for at least 15 minutes, during which time the poor dog grew more and more nervous with all the noise. Trying to speak to a vet on the phone was an ordeal. Reception staff acted very put out at having to talk with us both on the phone and in person. After several visits, they never learned my name or my dog's name. Visits felt rushed and stressed both us and the dog, whom they tagged as "aggressive" (but was never aggressive to anyone except them when they grabbed at her to give her shots, take temp, etc.). It always seemed as though they were just trying to get through with our appointment to get to the next one; I never felt as if they cared about my dog. Prices were on the high side and were not well explained without having to ask about them.
Dog came home with fleas after her spay; none on her before. Vet told us there was nothing else to do for her when she developed a rare condition after a dental cleaning at a later age; three other vets from different places later told us that it could be a result of rushed dental and poor monitoring during dental. Vet kept saying she was reacting to the different antibiotics after the dental. After watching her waste away for three weeks, I demanded more testing be done and by then it was so far advanced. That's when we found our current vet, who tried a couple of meds which eased her symptoms greatly.
We saw several vets during our time at Crawford. One was absolutely cold and imperious and horrid to deal with; no people skills. One was nice but did not seem to be up on the latest info and came to me with the same info I had printed off the internet, which hadn't been read obviously. A third was very nice but left shortly after we had seen her the first time. The techs were generally very nice.
I felt very agitated and upset after nearly every visit to Crawford. I could kick myself for not changing vets sooner. This is not how all vets operate. If I had known then what I know now, I would have looked for a different vet after our first visit. I trusted that they would give my dog the best care, not just go through the motions and ring up the bill. I was wrong.

the phone number for the clinic is 414 529 3577.
they are excellent. We have been going there ever since we adopted our dog and they have been great to work with for every checkup and health related incident.
the prices are very reasonable too.
I would recommend them.

On my first visit for a first Cat checkup the reception staff acted as if they were doing me a favor by being there. Not friendly, not even considerate. The Vet Tech was nice, friendly and helpful, therefore I shrugged off the reception staff thinking they had a bad day.

Sadly, everything went back to gloom when Vet. Hoyer walked in the room, she has the personal skills of a rock. Now I know where the receptionist take their cues from. Vet. Hoyer is very cold, condescending, doesn't answer questions, and just shrugs off questions that are posed or changes the subject.

They came recommended, so I scheduled a front declaw and neuter for the following week. I should have listened to my instinct and never come back after the first visit. My estimate for service was $288 - $388 complete. Range was justified by medications. However, when I came back to pick up my cat, they wanted $499.99 from me! Said that the increase was the Medications. BS! it was in the proposal. They (a vet tech - different one than the first) wouldn't even consider my position. Being quoted a range, and then being $120.00 above and beyond the range is unacceptable. Finally I agreed to pay, but wanted all my cat's records because I would not even consider coming back for anything. Suddenly the vet tech talked to a vet (when photocoping my cat's records) and said that they had mistakenly double charged me for meds, and that the new bill was $388.00, and that they hoped I'd reconsider remaining as a customer.

How convenient, the amount was the top of the range, but that's what I agreed to in the begining. I believe because I had a specific breed of cat that they thought I would just bend over and take a financial reaming.

It's a hive of scum and villains - stay away. To boot, now my cat has Ring Worm and has passed it along to my family. He didn't have it prior to his overnight stay, nor did they detect it if he had during his physical exam. They did treat him for ear mites, but didn't provide follow up care for the mite infection. My new Vet pointed that out.

Vet. Hoyer failed miserably.

Worthless.

Crawford Animal Hospital has always provided excellent care to my pet. The vets are friendly to both me and to my pet. They make her feel at ease before examining her. They are also very knowledgable. The prices are pretty much the same as others in the area. The clinic is easy to get to and parking is fairly easy as well.

I had a positive experience with this clinic through my 2 dogs. Their prices were comparable with other vet's in the area, in my experience. I would still be going there, however I moved out of the area and the commute didn't make sense. I found them to be kind and compassionate and reasonably priced.

They were very professional staff and doctors.
But their fee's are a lot more than other vet's.
I found out too late. And wish I could have shopped around but we had adopted a very sick dog from the ASPCA.

They were very caring and gave excellent treatment, recommendations and care.

If money were no object.....
