I went there to get a "Step-Mother of the Bride" up-do. I had gone to Fran-Coys for the original but they were all booked for our date. I figured Penney's would be less expensive and just as good. I was wrong on BOTH counts. I asked for an experienced person for an up-do and was assigned to Suri. She didn't even want to even see the pics I had of the up-do I had from Fran Coys or other pictures. She said she knew what she was doing. WRONG!!!!! I asked for something like a french twist and she gave me a french braid. (Suri, there is a big difference!) I didn't think it looked too bad when she was done, but I didn't have time for her to fix it anyway. When I saw my step-daughter's hair (she had a real professional do it!) mine looked as if a monkey had done it. Mine was a mass of bobby pins sticking out everywhere and I was very embarrassed. Not to mention they charged me over $70.00 - Fran Coys was only $30 and the 'do' looked so much prettier. Oh well luckily it wasn't MY wedding. I'm not looking forward to seeing the pictures and will never go back to JC Penney's again for any services in their salon. Suri needs to go to beauty school!!

I took my daughter here to get her hair cut and when the stylist saw I was trying to persude my daughter to go for a new style she also helped persuade. Alas to no avail. The stylist did though give her a very nice blunt cut.

I have used JCP Portraits in the past for my kids and most of the time have been very happy with the results. They have a portrait club you can join and get free 8x10 with your photo shoot as well as no sitting fees. Not bad at all. Like another person said they will get SWAMPED during peak hours so during the holidays and special portrait time you're better off making a reservation.

I first tried Penney's for a haircut because I wanted to donate my hair to Locks of Love. My haircut was free (excluding tip), but thye still ttreated me like a paying customer. I had one of their senior designers for my cut (Rene F.). She did a great job cutting it and explaining how I coudl style it and what products to use. And when telling me about products, although she told me what she was using, she never pressured me to buy exactly those items. I've since gone back and even have my next appointment scheduled.

PROS: Free parking at mall.
CONS:

My local Penney's Portrait Studio is definitely above par. Angel, the manager, is such a joy to work with. She remembers me each time I come in. I've noticed that she is this was with many returning customers. She is very good at taking unique pictures, and I always try to get her as my photographer whenever possible. If you join the Portait Club (don't know the current fees as they change often), you can get incredibly inexpensive pictures that are nice quality. Definitely not the absolute best quality ever, but nice just the same. Stop in at the Briarwood location and you'll see what I mean. Oh, and make a reservation or you might get frustrated!

PROS: Manager is fantastic, good pictures
CONS: can get very busy during peak hours
