I used to love this place. It was my favorite 4am spot for bottle service. After last night I will never go back and I encourage everyone to never waste time at this place. Right when we showed up there was someone sitting at our reserved table. Really not that big of a deal. After we sat down the people that were sitting there before us came back and tried to start a fight. I was out to party and not really in the fighting mood. Advised the bouncer and he went and had a jolly old laugh with these tool bags. Anyways let that all go and started to have a good night. After our first bottle we ordered a second. I went down to the restroom and when I got back the bottle was on the table and we were being asked to leave for being too intoxicated. First, we were by no means too intoxicated. Second, if we were why in andy sane world would you serve us another bottle. So I politely asked that they charge us for the first bottle and we would gladly leave, never to return. They demanded that we pay for the second bottle, that was untouched. We paid for it and they said they would hold it for "next time." In case its not clear I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN. So, I told them to hold the bottle and the next time I come in I'll dump it out and leave once agian. If your looking to get cheated and hang out at a sausage fest with a bunch of jersey shore looking mfs head on down to Stone Lotus where the staff are obviously unaware that we are the paying customer, NOT THEM.

Stone Lotus is a fun place to have a party at or hang out on a Saturday night. I've never had the food here but the drinks are always good but a bit expensive.

My party rented out this Club/Bar for a private event. They requested that the club employ six bouncers for our protection only. My date and I were standing outside of the building when a fight between two members of our party and six bouncers of the club broke loose. These men were pigs! They kicked my friends in the face while they were on the ground. I do not care what words are exchanged, behavior like this should not be tolerated. The police were contacted by me personally and did nothing about the situation. I was very upset about everything and the bouncers laughed at me and told me to go home. I have never been treated like this before. this place was terrible and i did not feel safe whatsoever. I will make it my personal goal to post reviews of this terrible club on every site that I can. Thanks. Don't waste you time or money. And definitely do not jeopardize your safety.

I went here for my birthday. I had tons of friends with me but it was kind of pricey. I felt bad cuz my friends had to pay for me, but there were like 20 of them so it was not bad for them to split it. I liked my food, but it tased kind of salty. Other than that, no complaints i would say to anyone to celebrate here.

Last night 8/22/09, a group of myself and 4 other friends went to Stone Lotus. We are all African-American. We left a another club and bottle service to go to Stone Lotus. Upon arrival we stood outside waiting to be allowed in. Several white patrons were permitted to enter while we waited. After several minutes passed, we inquired about the wait. A bouncer said to my friend w/in earshot "She (referring to me) can't come in with her hair like that and wearing babyphat". My hair was natural (curly fro). Coincidentally, I've been to stone lotus before wearing another babyphat outfit but with my hair straightened. Since when does a woman's hairstyle bar her from entering a club? We asked for a manager who added insult to injury by denying that the bouncer said what he said. The manager further aggravated the situation by stating "there's a 2 bottle minimum" repeatedly even after we said that wasn't a problem. I guess the assumption was that we couldn't afford the bottle service. This type of blatant racism shouldn't be supported or allowed in 2009.

I set up a party a month in advance for my 26th Birthday. I intended to purchase 2 bottles at a minimum. Half of my party (all women) made it to the club before me and were allowed in for free under my reservation without any problems. I arrived with another group of friends and was told by the bouncer first that they had no reservation under my name. Then when I told them half of my party was already inside they said they couldn't let any of the men in, only the woman.

Everyone was dressed in proper attire and my friends were very insulted. When I asked if I could use the bathroom or at least go in and get my friends they refused to let me inside.

All of the people that came afterward male or female where turned away.

This place is beyond ridiculous!!!

DO NOT GO THERE!!!!
HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!
HORRIBLE PEOPLE!!!!
I WAS COMPLETELY DISGUSTED!!!

story of my 21st birthday

My friends went outside for a smoke and one of them would not be let in. I went outside to ask the bouncer why he would not be let in and he said he was too intoxicated. (Mind you he was only there for 30 minutes at this point he was completely sober)

I asked what did my friend do to seem too intoxicated and the bouncer did not answer he just ignored me. I asked him again what did he do and he said "Sir, I have no problem kicking you and your entire party out right now" (I made reservations for two tables and a month in advance and it was my 21st birthday). Then I told him that I did paid good money for the reservation and the bouncer opened the gate and said "Leave now".

I went back inside and complained and the bouncer told my friend he would only let him back in if he paid $400. My friend paid it because he did not want to upset me on my 21st birthday, and apparently my cousin paid a bouncer inside as well to try and resolve this.

So he was let in and moments later the manager said because they "let" my friend in they are taking away one of my tables and selling it to someone else without issuing any sort of compensation.

If anyone's had similar issues and want to start some sort of case you can contact me at DLembesis@mail.bradley.edu

Initially I was working with Laura Faith to plan a birthday party for a friend. We had been planning this party for OVER A MONTH and everything was set. The night of the party, we arrive at Stone Lotus only to find that there is NO RECORD of us even being on the guest list. Her "front door staff" was rude and unaccommodating on this matter. Then they decide to send us to another club so we have to send texts and phone calls to ALL 30 GUESTS re-routing them. They promised that we would be well taken care of at the other place (no cover, table with bottle service), but WE WEREN'T. We practically had to FIGHT for a table.

After expressing my frustration with Laura Faith, she proceeds to blame it on US because we "were late" for the reservation. How about WE WEREN'T LATE Laura...you just SCREWED UP and won't own up to it!

Stone Lotus is aweful. I will NEVER go back. Doormen-->wanna be classy but really a stupid rude D bag. Drinks-->overpriced. Security-->what is this the presidents club? these sketchy dudes walk around like this bar is they are Secret Service men. I remember thinking, I wish this dude would stop looking at me and go jump in the dumpster out back.

I came to meet friends for a birthday party. I waited in line because the guy in front would not give me the time of day just to find out that I had to pay $50 for a "VIP" party package that allowed me to not actually wait in line. I went in and drinks were expensive an I had no room to move. Why do people do this to themselves on the weekends. We need to have an intervention.

HATED IT! RUDE RUDE RUDE. Yes, 3x.
Went here with some beautiful people (models, tv personalities), and a wedding party from the four seasons. We were subjected to door abuse and told we weren't getting in, by the doorman who was a joke. Our people had a table, and since we arrived after them, we weren't allowed in, even though it was our idea to go there. And, they were rude and kept shouting for no reason. I've partied at the best clubs in the world, since I'm from NYC, lived in LA, and Paris; this place is a rude for noo reason. Don't spend your money here to get treated terribly, or yelled at. Go other places in Chicago to have a good time. Stone Lotus deserves to shut down, the way they mistreat people. I will NEVER go here again.

I warn you STAY AWAY from this place unless you like being treated poorly. We went here for my friends 21st b-day. She had talked to Melissa & planned it all. When we got in we saw the area set up for a b-day & were told that wasn't for our group. They said they couldn't reach her and her # was all the sudden disconnected the week of the party so they didn't set up an area for her or have the cake she ordered & now someone else was in her area for their b-day. Her 20 friends who came to the club to celebrate had called her at the same # all that week and got a hold of her just fine. The manager actually told us they don't make mistakes like that (double booking a party) and it was the b-day girls fault she didn't have a spot. Someone made a comment about race in a review below & my friend is the hot blonde that often gets into clubs for free & is the first to dance on the bar and live it up so they have equal discrimination there. We got to sit on the VIP couches but were moved around often when people got there who had reserved a table. Not the way you should be treated when you brought 20 people at $50 a pop. That's $1000! At the end of the night my husband was kicked out of the club because he tripped up the stairs. My husband is the least threatening guy you could imagine and there is no reason why he should have had to leave for that drunk or not. From reading these reviews & seeing what I saw it sounds like they pick people to kick out. As he was outside he told them he was disappointed with how the party happened & he wasn't coming back & the manager said "Can I have that in writing?" How rude and inappropriate! So just to let you know they are perfect like god they are the VIP & you are a nobody to them no matter how much you pay or what the occasion. If you like feeling this way definitely go to this place! The place looks like a 10 when you enter or see it online but the staff makes it a 0 & will run it into the ground.

We went to Stone Lotus for my brother's 21st birthday and we had an awful experience. After reading many of the previous reviewers' comments, I have to agree with all of the negative things people are saying about this place. We paid for a VIP package, but unfortunately, we were not treated as VIP guests should be treated. The security staff was extremely rude, the bartenders did not know how to make anything beyond the basics, and the space was small and empty (on a Fri). We also had a guest in our party get kicked out shortly after we had gotten there, because the security staff maintained that they had seen him stumble. Our guest was no more intoxicated than any other person in that club, and if anything, there were quite a few guests that were more intoxicated. The "so-called drunk guest" told the security guards that we had taken a limo to the club and that the limo would not be there for another three hours. He then proceeded to ask the security guard if he could sit there (and not drink) and wait for the rest of his party to finish up. The security guard said that his staff could not watch the "intoxicated guest" and informed our guest he would have to wait outside in the cold. It honestly would not have been difficult for security to tell the two bartenders working to not serve this guest and for security to watch him. Again it is a small space and If they can spot people they believe are highly intoxicated amongst the small crowd, then they can spot a person who doesn't keep his word in a small crowd as well. I thought our incident was isolated at first, but after reading about a similar incident happening to someone else, I am beginning to think this is a ploy used by Stone Lotus to get large sums of money from people and then not let them enjoy the packages they paid for. We paid to have an open bar from 10-1, but were forced to leave before 12. I have been to a lot of clubs in my day, and this is the worst one yet!

.

Poor and rude service. There is no room to move on weekends and you are treated like dirt as soon as you walk in. The smoke actually helps alleviate the pungent smell of sweat and euroT saturated in Armani cologne. Also it was great being swung at by the DJ after which I was being the one escorted out. Next time I feel like being attacked by the DJ and put into a headlock by security after dropping a hundred bucks, I know where to go...

Even though I've never paid for a drink here- I've felt sorry for those generous gentlemen who have... Before last week however, I would've been indifferent about this place; never had a great time here but never really had an awful one either- until last week (see below and take into consideration what you'll tolerate from a stuck up establishment, lacking in diversity, in the year 2007)
Some friends of mine were looking to host and book parties there. This is a diverse group of people looking to bring some diversity to an otherwise monochromatic club. One of the people involved was told, pretty much verbatim (by their female manager whose name starts with an M and ends with sa- I'm trying to be tactful, as hard as it is), that "they don't want too many Indians in the club on a Friday night..." then went on to say, "... if it's between a blonde-haired, blue-eyed woman at the door and an Indian, the Indian [person's] not getting in..."
Ridiculous! And this is 2007? Open racism, discrimination and prejudice has indiscreetly shifted from being directed solely at blacks to all non blue-eyed, blonde-haired individuals on behalf of the management at Stone Lotus. Thanks again for reminding us all that we're still (no matter what status, religion or creed) living in the US of A!
Had this not occurred, I wouldn't be so adverse to this "liquor spa"- never had a great time there but before this, couldn't day I'd had a horrible time either... Though it may of no concern to the management at Stone Lotus, you just lost the business of this customer and the business of as many other people I know as well.

I have been here twice with co-workers. We were very polite and professional so I do not understand the rude service we encountered both times. We also spent well over $2000 each visit. Mistakes were also made that they refused to correct. There were also other problems that I cannot mention due to the User Review Guides. Needless to say we will not be returning.

I went there last weekend and got a table for a friend's birthday and was very disappointed. When we were moments from leaving, coats in hand and check paid, the guest of honor was escorted outside to stand alone without anyone in our party being told! They claimed he was too drunk. He wasn't bothering anyone or any more drunk then the rest of the people there. Also, we bought a table for 6, but only 4 could sit comfortably, 5 max. They claim this is "cocktail party" seating. You don?t get any food with a bottle anymore, although this is not reflected on the website, and the price is still the same. Finally, although there were several empty tables, the staff couldn't stop hassling us to be as squished together as possible. When you spend $300 for a bottle (and no food), you expect to be treated like a VIP, as we were not at all.

Pros: Atmosphere

Cons: Service, price, staff

.

If you are ever in Chicago on a Tuesday night Stone Lotus is where it's at... The drinks are reasonable and the treatment once you step foot in the doors is superb. Two thumbs up

There was absolutely no line outside on a Saturday night at 10:30 PM but the door staff still demanded a $20 cover for guys! The place was packed inside which was great! The music was ok. The bartender although was very unhappy working where my friends and I had to continually ask her for drinks! We ended up staying all night ordering drinks from her and not once did she even offer to buy us a shot! Nor did any of the other bartenders ask us for drinks when they would obviously see that our glasses were empty. Very strange behavior from the bartenders!

Stone Lotus has a lot of hype, but when I went there on a Saturday night there was no one there!! The inside of the bar is great- including the downstairs bar, which if you can get into is a little less crowded. I would not return to this bar.

I HAVE TO SAY THAT WHEN YOU ARE YOUNG AND BORED ON A TUESDAY NITE, THIS PALCE IS GREAT FOR A FEW MARTINIS AND MUSIC. THE LAYOUT IS AMAZING,IT'S KIND OF TRANQUIL WITH THE WATER RUNNING DOWN THE WALLS UPSTAIRS. THE ONLY THING IS THAT IF YOU WANT A TABLE YOU HAVE TO CALL WAY IN ADVANCE AND ON FRI AND SAT IT GETS A LITTLE TOO PACKED FOR A PLACE THAT SIZE.

This place was amazing. The door staff was accomodating...we didn't make a reserv. and told them we were intrested in bottles. It was PACKED, but they were on point with keeping us up to speed on how long we would wait for a table. Had a few drinks at the bar, GREAT MUSIC!
Got a table, had Impecable service, she really knew her stuff. Got her business card and will definatly use it!
The decor is great, it wasn't too packed that we coulnd't move, and the crowd was what I like. Young, hip, not pretentous like RiNo or Enclave, they ahve HORRIBLE service.
Stone Lotus will definatley be on my list as a stomping ground every weekend. They found new regulars, i am telling EVERYONE how great this place is.
Every place has a bad night, but from what I've heard on the consensus, it's always a plus.
The owners could be a little less obnoxoius, but the service otherwise was GREAT

I went with a bunch of friends and had the best time. Just an absolute blast all night long. I would definitely say one of the best new places in Chicago. We ordered bottle service and got some of the best food and mixers imaginable. Keep up the good work.

I have never encountered such rudeness from the "bouncers" as I did at this place last weekend. We made reservations in advance for bottle service. We arrived on time and went in. The place was empty at first. But that didn't matter. The server was great. We went through our SIX bottles of overpriced alcohol and tried the little snacks they served with it. The food was nothing to talk about. After we were done with the bottles and paid the check, we were asked to leave by the "bouncers". It is understandable that they may have other people there to order bottle service. But we had asked for 15 minutes to gather our group and move and the server had said that would be no problem. But, the next group was anxious for their table. So the staff immediately started telling all of us to get out. They didn't say that we needed to vacate the table and move to the other areas of the bar. They told us we needed to leave and get out now. You don't pay for 6 bottles and then get told to "get the f--- out." Save yourself a little money and a lot of disappointment and go somewhere else. We have never had this kind of treatment with bottle service at any other establishment. Go to J bar or Y bar and get better service and respect. This place was all hype and a BIG disappointment.

We had heard all the buzz and it did not disappoint. The space is a bit narrow but well designed. The water wall is a WOW! Our server was eye candy for sure, but also articulate and attentive. We tried the specialty drinks then ordered a bottle. We devoured the food that came with - excellent pairings- again met expectations. The place in total is urbane and sophisticated- a stand out. This is not for the beer nuts crowd. We felt pampered throughout the night.

I went to this place last weekend. I called ahead for bottle service and a table.
My friends and I approached the line which was empty and the bouncer. The
bouncer was incompetent as well as the staff. It took them 35 mins to find our names
on one page guest list which was only a half a page and clearly written. When we entered
the place was empty and only 25% full. The table was not ready and not even clean.
We later tried the bar which was waste of time, drinks were poor and service was slow.
The crowd was stuffy and the age was around 40 or older.
This place only has his decor going for itself, that about it. Food was horrible, never order food here, just get a bottle not even drinks fro the rookie bartenders.

This place has potential, if graded I would give it a D+ for the decent decor and potential
without these elements its a true failure and shouldn't last long. This place needs to get off of its hight horse and make the necessary changes to become a solid bar/lounge.
