I am so thankful that I met nicole at aqua salon. She knows what she's doing, doesn't waste time, and is very sweet and friendly. You owe it to yourself to go see nicole for the best hair in town! I recomend highlights and a haircut!

I've been going to Aqua for at least a couple of years now, I can't believe it took most of my life to find a Styilist that I LOVE!!! I can truely call her an artist!.... Her name is MARTHA. She will work with you and your vision for your look and make you look amazing!!!! But she is a styilist that also has a vision of her own, and if you're not stuck in your ways, she can work her magic as an artist and give you a whole new look to make you even MORE beautiful !!! From her professionalism and expertise to her vision and personality, MARTHA is the BEST!!!!! And I get all that at a great price!!!!!!

I recently decided to give another salon a chance since my salon getting a little to pricey. I told my stylist Justine what I had in mind, and she listened and gave me a new idea for my color. Im so happy with the color and its great to have a hairdresser i can trust since im always open for change. All the other stylists there were nice and greeted me with a smile. I get so many compliments on my hair! Thank you aqua!

I love going here. I found Aqua back when I was living in Ann Arbor, and now that I live in Ferndale the drive is obviously much better! I forget the name of the girl I go to, but I believe it is Christina. I came to her from a previous stylist with horrible highlights.. really thick and many, many tones. She knew exactly what to do and had me fixed up in no time. The cost was way less than I expected, and I have been going back since. Yes, the salon can be a little untidy sometimes, but it's not at all dirty like some reviewers have claimed. I have never found the staff to be 'crazy' either. It's almost like we are talking about different salons or something.

I am never going anywhere else. My stylist is friendly, always knows what I am thinking and charges a very reasonable rate. I couldn't ask for more. The only thing I miss compared to past salons is some type of beverage service. Usually I bring a coffee or drink in with me, but considering my visits are usually 2 hrs I'd appreciate being offered a drink in case I forget. My old salon had mimosas and tea, but I suppose I was technically paying for the drinks considering how much my services cost.

I went on citysearch before going to Aqua. I read the reviews, and some were not very good. I overlooked them though because the prices were good. Well, all I can say is... Listen to the reviews!! You definently get what you pay for! I went in their for highlights and came out with orange hair!! And the highlights dont even go to the roots. The place is kind of a dump, and everyone is running around like they dont know what their doing. I think I switched chairs like 5 times. What a mess.....

First experience was ok, second was a tragedy. I left with my hair bright orange like a clown, the lighting inside the salon was low so I couldn't tell how bad it was until I got outside...reason for tears! So embarrassed to go to work the next day, then Amy fixed it the following night, it was blonde again, but severely damaged and fried after. Had to cut it much shorter - still trying to grow it back out from this debaucle. Needless to say, I never went back.

I know I can just sit back and let Nicole do her thing. Whether it is just a cut, color or even an up-do, I always leave feeling and looking fantastic.

The Arijana girl gives the best haircuts. Very professional and well educated in hairstyling. Would recommed Aqua to everyone, I will definetly be going back when I get all shaggy!

I have been getting my hair done by Nicole for over a year now and have never been disappointed. It is very hard to find a hairdresser that can give you the exact style you want or give you ideas for something new. I am always impressed with her work and always recieve compliments on the amazing job she does. I would recomend her to everyone!!

Bianca,where have you been all my life.... I have never enjoyed having my hair done more. I love the color, the highlights, the cut so very very much... My husand who generally doesn't even know I had anything done said "your hair looks nice" as soon as he saw me. Wow. I have finally found a hairdresser. Have gotten all wow compliments. Thanks again

The salon is clean, upbeat, fun, and my hair is awesome. I seen Martha and she was funny, talkative, and my hair looked great. I got my sisters to switch over to Martha and they loved her too. My highlights were perfect and my color was exactly what I wanted. The staff was so nice. I would refer anyone to the salon. check it out if you get the opportunity.

I started going to aqua salon a little over a year ago after trying some other so called "upscale" salons in the downtown royal oak area. From my very first experience at aqua i was floored at how professional yet layed back the staff was. Matt has been nothing short of a miracle worker because after i spent almost 200 at a salon a couple blocks away (and my hair was BOTCHED!), he was happy to accept the challenge of my botched hair and turned it into the most beautiful hair i have had since i was a little girl and the price was almost half of what i paid at the snobby salon that messed it up to begin with. Matt has a client for life because i know he loves making people beautiful. thank you matt! I never thought i would find the hairdresser of my dreams but i have!

I've been going to Nicole at Aqua for a while and she is by far the best stylist i've ever had! Not only are the prices at aqua great (and trust me I am a broke college student so I know), but i get so excited everytime i go to see her since I know I will leave looking awesome! I usually schedule an appointment right before a big event. I have had so many people compliment my hair and ask me who did it, even complete strangers! I always tell them to call Aqua and ask for Nicole!

I recently went to aqua salon after a friend recommended it to me.. I have been to every fancy salon around so i was curious to see what they could do to make my fine, lifeless, dull hair into something beautiful. When i arrived for my appointment i was kinda surprised when everyone was really nice and not at all snooty like a lot of salons in the area. My stylist was Martha and she really went above and beyond my expectations.. Not only was she funny and entertaining, but my hair is so beautiful now. The perfect shade of blonde with highlights and the cut is absolutely perfect! Not to mention when i went up to the front desk to pay (preparing myself for the worst) the price was unbelievably cheap! I thought they had a mix-up!! I didn't experience cold water and no heat like the reviewer previous did, in fact i couldn't be happier. Thanks aqua and Martha for making me feel and look beautiful without ripping me off! I will be back without a doubt.

I have been to Nicole at Aqua Salon three times so far and cannot imagine ever going anywhere else again!! She is amazing with color (which I am very picky about) and my cut is always great! I love the atmosphere of the salon and everyone is always so nice. I have been to a lot of salons that make you feel uncomfortable and Aqua is not like that at all. I always love my experience and look forward to going back. I would recommend Aqua to everyone!

I have never experienced a salon like this. I can't believe other people would say this is a 5 star salon! I wouldnt even say you deserve 1 star, other than the fact that you have 1 great stylist named Amy that works their! I have given this salon a few chances thinking things would get better, but never did. Not only on my first visit, but also my second, my head was washed in freezing cold water!! I was told both times that it would be fixed, and it would not happen again. Well because I love Amys work, I gave it another chance. Of course calling before I returned, asking if they had hot water, I booked my next appointment. When I arrived It was a very cold day and in the middle of the service I was informed that the heat did not work!! WHAT KIND OF SALON IS THIS??? Get your S*%T together Aqua!! And to top it off, when I asked the receptionist if I could speak to a manager, she RUDLY replied "We don't have a manager." WHAT? I guess that just speaks for itself! I wouldnt recomend Aqua to my worst enemie!

I RECENTLY WENT TO MATT AT AQUA AND HE WAS SO NICE, ATTENTIVE, AND TALENTED. HE MADE MY HAIR LOOK SO HEALTHY AND FABULOUS. I WOULD RECOMMEND MATT BUT EVERYONE IS REALLY NICE AND THE PLACE IS UPBEAT.

Go to Amy, shes amazing! I had my hair done by someone else and it didnt come out right, she fixed it and made it look amazing and it was much cheaper than i thought it would be! Everyone was soo nice!

Downtown Royal Oak has a really fun, hip atmosphere and Aqua Salon totally fits in, and they do it without the snooty attitude I've gotten at some other establishments. The employees I met were trendy, attractive and friendly girls... but they weren't the type to put natural female competition over their jobs. I saw Bianca for a hair cut and described what I wanted (a Victoria Beckham bob, not her latest style). About 20 minutes later she was finished and it looked great, but I decided I wanted it a bit shorter. Without batting an eye, she modified the cut until I was totally satisfied, then styled it to perfection! It is literally better than I had imagined it, as my hair was quite damaged from a tragic salon visit back in early August. The price was a reasonable $40, but keep in mind you cannot put the tip on your credit or debit card and will have to either bring cash or use their ATM!

This was a great job for the price and area, and I will definitely come back here next time, and I'd recommend it to my friends!

I found our about Aqua Salon due to searching this website. I needed a change and Aqua does a fabulous job with a cut and color. The prices are great as well! I've already recommended 4 people who were also very satisfied with the outcomes!

I visited Aqua Salon yesterday for the first time. Going to a new stylist is always nerve-racking, but have no fear!! First of all, I love Ulysses!! Everyone there was so nice and fun. I like the fact that the salon is upscale, but not snobby at all. I saw Matt and am convinced that I will never go to anyone else again. He gave me the PERFECT blonde (for the first time in years!) I am very picky about my color, and usually feel that it's too stripey, too gold etc...., but this is perfect. He also gave me a great cut. I took a picture in of the bangs I wanted and they look exactly like the picture. I'm growing the bottom of my hair out and he respected that. He was very confident and kept telling me how excited he was about my hair, which made me feel good. To top it all off, when I went to pay, I couldn't believe how inexpensive it was!!! Is this too good to be true!?! Wish I would've found them sooner!

My impression of Amy of Aqual Salon , Downtown Royal Oak is nothing but professional and creative. She has a gift in using the right color for your hair and in communicating with her clients. Her skills in cutting hair is also superb. She knows what she does and gave me a beautiful hair cut I ever had for almost 8 years (yes, it is true I did not have a good hair stylist for that long). So I highly recommend Amy -- a five star recommendation! Thanks to Amy and also to helpful Ulysses.

My Daughter and I went to Nicole for haircuts. I brought a picture in of what I wanted. My hair looks better than the picture, Nicole did a perfect cut for me! I can't ever remember having my hair look this good.
I keep looking in the mirror to see who's awesome hair it is... It's mine!!! She did an incredible job on my very picky Daughter's hair, it looks so beautiful she is so very happy with it!

My weekend was completely shot early Saturday morning after I agreed to let my wife use a box color on my natural blonde (but dulling) hair. Nuclear Vanilla Pudding was the result--and nobody was going to see me, that was for sure.

I called Aqua Sunday morning to see if there was a chance I could be squeezed in for a color fix, and Matt was most accommodating. When I arrived, I was greeted (without laughter) and treated quite well. Matt has a ton of confidence--and as it turned out he deserves to: He not only fixed a regrettable "home job," but he turned the color into more than I was hoping for. A very natural looking blonde with excellent hi-lites!

Needless to say, I walked out of Aqua a totally different man, and went to work on Monday without a bag over my head! Thanks a ton, bravo!

I look forward to getting my hair done each month at Aqua Salon of Royal Oak by Nicole. She does a stellar job each time and I would recommend her to anyone. You will leave very pleased and wanting more next time you visit. If your not sure what you want done to your hair, just ask. She always has fresh new ideas that you'll love! Nicole is personable and friendly. If you go to Aqua salon, ask for Nicole, you'll be glad you did!

After getting my hair highlighted by an inexperienced stylist at a new salon, I walked out of the place completely unhappy with my hair. I made an appointment with Matt at Aqua and could not be happier with the results. Matt was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and everyone working at Aqua was so hospitable - they all made me feel very comfortable! It's hard for me to find a good stylist as well as a good salon to keep my business, but I can't wait to make my next appointment with Matt. I highly recommend Aqua with their great service and great pricing you won't find anywhere!

I just got my hair done at Aqua Salon. A friend referred me to Amy. I just couldnt get the naturel highlight that I wanted. Amy did it!!! Her technique was so natural I couldnt ask for anything better!!! She did an amazing job!!! I highly reccommend that anyone that needs there hair done they should go to her. She makes you feel really comfortable in the chair and treats you like she has known you forever. Great job Amy!!!

I came into Aqua the first time last week not knowing what to expect, and quit honesly a little timid. But to my suprise everyone in the salon at the time made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. My family just moved to the area from Boston, and I went to Nicole at aqua for a color, highlights, and haircut. I loved it so much that i sent my daughter to her too! I just got highlights, color and a cut done by Matt - the guy is FANTASTIC! I've been searching for a great stylist for years, but I'm always disappointed by something....the cut or the color, or the way that I'm treated. Not so at Aqua! Everyone there is nice...no inflated egos. Matt even waxed my brows for me! It was like having a total makeover!! He was really sweet throughout the whole process too...really genuine. I've already made another appointment to see him. Go to Aqua - you won't regret it.

I got an Amazing cut from Elizabeth at the Royal Oak location. I went back a second time to get highlights and i must say that was the first time i have gotten highlights and kept my hair looking healthy...even weeks after the job. My hair has never looked healthier and i am very picky when it comes to who touches my hair.

Its a very friendly, open environment. Elizabeth and Matt are terrific and come HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I moved to Michigan from Texas recently. My hair was touched by the same stylist for over 10 years. When I moved to the city, I was absolutely terrified to have my hair cut by anyone else. I came across AQUA Salon on CitySearch and gave it a try. I am so happy with my results. Fotis cut my hair and was absolutely wonderful, listening to all of my fears, wants, and desires for the perfect haircut. My "new do" received more compliments than any other haircut I have every had. Love love love!

I died my hair at home ( i thought i could do it by myself) & i totally screwed up my hair.. I saw the add in the 6 degrees magazine for Aqua Salon and i went there to get my hair dyed to my natural color.. IT LOOKS PERFECT!..
