The food is mediocre and the service is HORRIBLE! The quality of food is never consistent and you never know if your food is going to be too oily, too spicy or too bland. The place looks filthy and u will never see someone sitting there and eating. The three reviews from Jan and Feb that are only posted days apart with stellar ratings must obviously be from friends of the owners.

great food but the service is a little slow. If the place was made a little nicer then more people would be willing to sit there and eat too. Overall the food is great!

Great place for food in the Lombard/Villa park area. Their gyros are not too shabby, and neither is the gyro pizza.

Nothing really great for vegetarians. The dal, Aloo palak, Bhindi Masala, Chana (you have only 2 of them on any given day!) are all examples of how not to make them!

Only if you are starving and the rest of the world is closed, you can probably step in and switch to the survival mode.

A good choice would actually be Sri Ganesh Cuisine just a few yards on the opposite side.

Desi Grill does not impress at the first look. A non-descript entrance into what looks like a run down burger shop. But when you taste the food, you will be glad you looked beyond the appearance.

DG's kababs are to die for. The beef is finely ground with fragrant spices and cooked to perfection. It comes in a naan roll with a raita on the side - it is heavenly. The chicken kababs (not made with ground chicken, but with pieces) is great, as are their sabzis. The naans are freshly baked in the tandoor and taste much better than those in most Indian restaurants. The chicken biryani is fragrant and yummy as well.

Add to the great food the homely service. A genuine smile, a few words in hindi, and the invitation to sip some chai while you are waiting for your food make you feel good. Also, DG has the most reasonably priced food I have ever seen in Chicagoland.

A couple of words of caution, though: DG does not offer much to vegetarians, unless you are yearning for dal and naan. Also, if you like a good ambience when you eat out, don't count on DG. The place is clean and functional, but lacks the piped music and the turbanned waiters.

In short, an easy 5 stars if you want good non-vegetarian food at a great price, to go.
