I have been to the Lees Summit location a total of three times. Our first visit was for engagement photos (in 2006) and was GREAT. They took their time, there was no wait (we were walk-ins) no pressure to buy, friendly courteous staff. The second visit, in 2008, was a large group (my spouses cousins for a family portrait for their grandparent) There was some wait, but they were friendly, slight pressure to upgrade packages. The last visit (last night) we had an appointment. I knew with the holidays, an appointment would be the best bet. We had myself, my husband, my mother and my 5 month old daughter. Our appointment was for 5:40. We arrived early as instructed by the staff and when we walked in, it was a mad house. no room to stand in the building. We said we would wait in the car (it was FREEZING outside) and when it was our turn, we would come back in. They then informed us, first, we 'won't come get you, you know that?!' and secondly, 'We're an hour behind, so you need to check back later'.

The attitude was outrageous. We had my husband wait inside, crammed in like a sardine, and when a place to sit became available, had my mom, baby and I come inside. We continued to wait until an hour and 15 minutes after our appointment. The photographer was a teenager (before they were more experienced adults) she asked me to put my baby in dangerous positions (sitting in a chair?? She can't sit up on her own for gods sake!) She wanted to put her on her stomach, even though I told her that my child doesn't like that position and will scream (she insisted, and sure enough, the baby screamed...red eyes look SO good for photos..don't they?) and then they wondered why she wouldn't smile. Lastly, when time came to review the pictures, we had THREE different sales reps, because every few minutes, they pulled our person away to do something else. So we had to start over from the beginning explaining what we wanted. Never did they indicate that we could get the CD with fewer poses - and then (mind you it is now almost 8 PM with an infant) they said, your pictures will be ready in an hour or so - why don't you just come back another day to pick them up. No ....really?! It is such a shame that this company has gone down hill to such horrible service. They treat the customers like cattle, pressure you to buy, aren't kid friendly or safe, are too young/immature (they were often talking about inappropriate things) and overall just a bad experience. For the money we paid, I'd say we would have been better off at another business such as the mall, sears, walmart - anywhere but here. What is the point of an appointment if you won't honor it...what is the point of telling them what your child will/won't do if they don't listen...what is the point of trusting them if they are willing to put the child in risky poses? I will NEVER go back. Which is unfortunate, because as a new mom, I will be getting regular photographs and would have been a constant repeat customer.

We chose to have my grandkids' pictures taken with Portrait Innovations because they have done a great job in the past! But we had them taken 2 weeks ago & it was the WORST experience so far with PI! They were WAY overbooked with at least 10 other families waiting with just 2 studios! There were approximately 6-8 girls taking pictures in between complaining about their work schedules, customers who would leave the building, etc. I was thoroughly disgusted with the money I spent there & will not be returning here to have any pictures taken! The girl who took our pictures rushed thru the session & basically just snapped the camera. We will be taking our photographs elsewhere from now on! As I previously stated, I have had 3 good experiences in the past but the quality & atmosphere of this store has gone way downhill in the past year! If you want great pictures taken, consider other sources than this Portrait Innovations in Lees Summit, MO! IN addition we took the kids to a pumpkin patch afterward & took pictures with them! I took a better picture of all the kids with my cell phone than Portrait Innovations did!

We were greeted very rudely and the photographer scared our child. We almost left as soon as we walked in and should have, because we ended up leaving half way through the session. Is it really that hard to be pleasant? This was our first and last visit to portrait innovations.

Pros: None

Cons: rude employees, bad with children

This was our first experience with the studio, it was not quite what we expected because they overbook. There were at least 12 families waiting with only two studios available. We waited about 40 minutes before being called and the shoot took about 30 minutes. They have really good deals, but be prepared for the wait and the crowd, especially during the holiday specials. The lady who took our pictures was pretty good and got smiles out of our three y/o. It's worth a try.

Whenever my kids are due to have new pictures taken, we normally always go to Portrait Innovations. They always do such a great job, and I am always please with the portraits taken. The pictures can get expensive, but they offer pretty reasonable packages in several price ranges. We will definitely be returning for future portraits.
