I like the reliable service they provide. I also like their great advertising rates.I remember when there was a snowstorm a few years back and the Bergen Bus was the only one that was running.

I would just like to say I have been a long time rider of the Bergen Avenue Bus, and over the years service had its highs and lows. But I continued to ride this line because it is convenient for me on my commute to work. Recently I have moved and now have the choice of riding the Bergen Bus Or a NJT bus, and I still take the Bergen because things are really getting better and better each day. I am noticing more busses on the road, and less brake downs. The drivers seem to be more courteous lately aside from the occasional grouch. Basically I would like to say Thank You, and keep up the good work. I heard that last summer you guys had a hard time finding competent mechanic help, but that surely must have changed.

I stopped taking the #10 bus because of loud rude people, long wait times and having a fear of not getting off the bus at my stop because the bus was so crowded. So I started taking the Bergen Avenue Bus in September 2007. It was great. The buses came regularly and they weren't crowded. However, a few months ago, I noticed the buses started coming later and later. One of the workers at the Bergen Avenue Depot said that the buses left every 15 minutes. That was a lie. I would say Good Morning to the bus driver of bus #1243 many a morning. I would tell him thank you after reaching my destination and he would just turn his head. I noticed that he was not responding, so I stopped saying anything to him. However, whenever a Hispanic man or woman would board the bus, he would tell him or her, Good Morning in Spanish. His mouth did not shut up until the person departed the bus. He would even lovingly touch the Hispanic women when they got off the bus, and tell them to have a good day. This particular driver didn't like anyone who was not Hispanic. Anyway, the service on the Bergen Avenue bus has deteriorated so much that it is a pleasure to ride the #10 bus again. If the service improves on the Bergen Avenue Bus, I will use it again.

I understand that the price of gasoline is high. But I don't think that it gives the Bergen Avenue Bus Owners Association the right to refuse to run the air conditioning on its buses in 90 plus degree heat (which I encountered when I rode bus #1241 on Sat. 06/07/08). If it were only one bus, I might think that the a.c. wasn't working. But then I observed that ALL the buses had their windows and front doors open, even while in motion!. For $1.50 per ride? Shameful!

The reviewer before me is actually being nice about his/her review of the Bergen Ave bus. Every single day I wait 45 minutes to one hour for a bus. Lots of times I'll be waiting for a bus at the Bergen/Garfield station and there will be 3 or 4 drivers inside fooling around and 5 or 6 buses parked not going anywhere. When another bus finally does come around the station from Garfield avenue they dont take off right away. You're forced to either wait outside in whatever climate it is or just walk.

oh and p.s.
that huge 500 pounder is the rudest driver of them all! I guess that its MY fault that hes eaten himself into hell.

For public service, this is the worst. For a $1.50 fare, you get to wait on buses 15 minutes to 1/2 hour. Then when the bus comes, 2 to 4 buses are not to far behind, going in the same direction. Most of the drivers are not courteous to the passengers. At the Broadway/Garfield Ave. station, there is no bus stand, to keep you out of the hot sun, in the summertime, nor to shield you from the rain. In the wintertime, you wait just as long, in the cold. Other than paying the drivers, the company need to repair the buses. All of them are very noisy, when picking up passengers.

A schedule should also be put in place, for the drivers to follow. If they don't have a schedule, then they are going to come and go, as they please.
