best Coffee & cookie products

I love Sensuous Beans' own BLEND, which they also sell by the cup. There is variety of green and herbal teas, and they are all full-leaf varieties, which makes for a stronger flavor, which I like--no more bagged teas for me!
I also enjoy the selection of big cookie-like products they offer which are a great addition to any carry away cup. I find the staff friendly and helpful.
I also like their Holiday Gift Boxes --which can be personally crafted by yourself if you so desire. And those who have received them have found them wonderful. In today's world of the McDonalds/Starbucks mass market, its nice to find a place that's personal, knowledgeable and treats you like a good neighbor...
Pros: best cookies with coffee

A Must Try!!!!
by Bondi
This is my favorite coffee shop. The staff is always friendly and very knowledgeable. The take-out coffee is a great start to my day, but I particularly love the great selection of beans. I often give gift baskets from The Sensuous Bean that are always a winner!! This is definitely a must try!! A charming shop that always pleases!!
Pros: Friendly knowledgeable staff and great coffee
Cons: None

Incredible~Signature blends! You MUST go & try this!
by Musiqlvr
I am hooked! 1st of all the other reviews are clearly written by chains--- since this staff is SUPER-KNOWLEDGABLE, the variety is AMAZING, and I had stellar service!! I told the woman I like coconut and she suggested I try the blend of coconut, chocolate, and almond coffees to make an Almond Joy Coffee blend! AMAZINGLY TERRIFIC-- I bought a few pounds for friends as gifts =)
Pros: Make your own blends!!!
Cons: none

A great latte can make your day..
by khanirl
Or it can completely ruin it. I try to frequent independent coffee places, so as I was in the neighborhood and saw the sign, I thought I'd give it a try. Suffice to say it was the worst latte I've had in a long time-I suspect it was made with filter coffee rather than espresso and it was horribly bitter and watery. It made me very unhappy! So my advice is, don't buy the take-away coffee drinks here. (Also I'd agree with the previous poster, the staff seemed very unprofessional).
Pros: Smells nice inside
Cons: HORRIBLE latte!

Overpriced Coffee
by barbarajeannes
The products are overpriced, the coffee is overrated, and the staff is completely unprofessional and frequently rude. There are so many other places on the Upper West Side to buy coffee, there's no reason to go there.
Of all the coffee stores in all the towns in all the world, don't walk into theirs!
Cons: Bad coffee, bad servic

Very good coffeee
by 4lambchop
Focused mainly on selling beans...but still serves up a *solid* cup of coffee. No place to sit. Surprisingly good flavored coffee...and this coming from someone who generally cannot stand the stuff. Friendly staff. And what's wrong with the name "sensuous bean"? Judging by some of the horrified reactions you'd think we were living in an Puritanical/FLDS cult. Coffee and chocolate *are* sensuous! mmmm.

Just because it's a coffee place doesn't mean the coffee is good
by wupower
I am sick of all the "cafes" and espresso shops in NY parading around like they have great coffee, just because they are a specialty coffee shop. The staff here are friendly enough, but the coffee I've had on several different occasions ranges from drinkable but not good, to utterly undrinkable and thrown into the next garbage can on the corner. Brewing good coffee takes a certain amount of effort that isn't shown here.
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: The coffee is just awful

Great Coffee, Tea, and Service
by Burt_Reynolds
Hey New Yorkers! Here is an example of good coffee. Instead of going to Starbucks or worse, Dunkin Donuts and coffee carts, come to this mom-and-pop place. The service is friendly, helpful, and quick. There are many different varieties of coffees and teas that you can buy by the pound (or less) and make yourself. You can also buy a cup of coffee to go. While it has no seating and is just a place to buy bulk coffee and teas, its quality and service make any coffee or tea lover waj at the knees.
