Now that the Lollicup near BU is closed (my favorite place to get bubble/boba tea), my only other alternative for getting bubble tea that I actually like is at TeaLuxe. My favorite is the iced green tea with bubbles. The only issue I have with the place is that it's really costly, but I suppose it's the fact that it's all really high quality tea leaves (none of that powdered milk tea business). Also it's a great location, being right in the middle of Newbury Street near Copley station. But inside is really quite small, and since it's a popular stop people tend to crowd around inside or struggle to get in and out. During the summer it is a must stop quick stop for me after long strolls of shopping/window shopping/just taking a leisurely walk.

Pros: ice green tea with bubbles, yum!

Cons: pricey

I love the concept of this store and the reality. There are so many teas to choose from, it's overwhelming in a good way.

The tea selection by bin number is amazing. To keep experiencing this variety after visiting, I bought a small Tealux tea pot with a built in strainer and several small bags of loose tea. It heats in the microwave perfectly and I have a vivid memory of my Boston experience every time. When I run out, I can order more on-line!

What Starbucks did for coffee, Tealuxe does for tea only with subtle style and class. Tea is available loose, by the cup or the pot for your enjoyment. The staff is always ready to help make those tough choices. There is food available as well to give you more reason to sit back and enjoy.

I go to Tealuxe every Saturday for lunch. It's always crowded and a fun environment. The hummus is the best I've ever had. I also love their vanilla matte tea. You can have a sit down meal or get tea to go. It's perfect for afternoon chats. Definitely visit! Also well priced.

Today, I met a friend for tea, crumpets, and some good girl talk at Tealuxe on Newbury. The tea was great, as usual. The service was so-so and the presentation was despicable. We sat at a table downstairs. Our meal was served on a plastic plate and with plastic "silverware". Our presentation included 2 little plastic containers for jam and butter (according to the menu it was supposed to be devon cream but our waitress didn't bother to tell us about the change until after we were served and I asked her why my devon cream was a hard little block??). Obviously, Tealuxe could care less about presentation and more importantly, doing their part to help protect and save our environment. Dear Tealuxe, You can now be added to the list of socially irresponsible corporations - I expected more from you!

Pros: Great Tea

This place is a hidden gem. If you are a tea lover you have to try this place. It has an unbelievable amount of teas on hand, with great descriptions and knowledgeable servers. Plus the food makes great small quick meals. Best of all this place is in the heart of newbury st and somehow one of the cheapest places in Boston. Unbelievable.

I really LOVE this place. I went there for the first time last year and since then I try and go as much as possible. I absolutely love their sandwiches. Small portions, but the european style sandwiches (i forget what they're called) are really tasty. I usually get the grilled chicken with cheddar jack cheese sandwich - highly recommended.

I always sit downstairs. It's small, but clean and visually interesting. It's busy during lunch hour, so go before 11:30 or after 1. When friends visited from out of town this was the first place I thought of for lunch. It's ideal for grabbing a quick lunch with a friend, or experiment with their extravagant list of teas. I wouldn't go with more than two people though. It's not ideal for group dining due to space restraints.

It's a nice break from the same old...

I went to Tealuxe twice during spring break a couple of months ago and enjoyed my visits there. The atmosphere is funky and cute, the employees were polite and helpful, and most importantly, the tea was some of the best I've ever had - definitely try the Strawberry Sencha!!

Ok, so the service can be a little slow and ditzy at times because I think they have new people on hand ever so often, but it is worth it nonetheless. It is a small place on two levels -- the first level is the tearooom -- loose teas you can get to go in a charming tin can, tea drinks you can order or the tea-related kitchenware (like japanese-style small tea kettles and clear tea cups). The lower level is the restaurant itself, great food, amazing sandwiches and nearly unlimited choice of all teas -- white, green, black, infused with fruit and vanilla. I love it. I go there all the time.

We were being tourist and others were on their lunch hour so you can imagine the wait. Sandwiches were good, service was okay. Take my advise on a hot summer day do not venture down to the basement there is poor air circulation and it can be uncomfortable. The Iced Tea (plain black) was excellent the chai was delicious too. The gift shop is quaint and the staff are very knowledgable definately a nice place to grab something quick to eat and the pastries didn't look bad either, although we did not partake.

Was looking for holiday gifts and found Tealuxe on Newbury Street. When I walked in, I was greeted by a host (Maybe the owner?) and asked how he could help. He was like a general directing troops. Employees busy everywhere, people taking orders while you waited in line so when you got to the register your tea was packed and ready to go; an employee outside with a cool tea pot on his back giving samples of Earl Grey and wonderful smells of tea all over. Found what I needed and more. Highly recommend this place for tea, gifts and food!
