I love love love Woodlawn. I began my riding instruction as a little kid at their camps, and then rode at Tamarack Stables and Justice-Snowden Farm for several years. I started riding again at Woodlawn a little over a year ago, and WOW.

I ride and board at Woodlawn Stables. It is exactly what I need and expect for improving my skills (I do ride the school horses in class) and for the care of my horse. Woodlawn Stables is clean and very organized. The school horses are perfect for their jobs and each has something to teach every student. It is not a show barn and they don't advertise themselves as such, so if that's what you're expecting, find another barn to suit your needs. This is a school barn after all, not a training facility. Woodlawn Stables takes great care in ensuring the safety of their students and their horses. They make sure each student learns the basics and progresses each one as their ability grows. As for boarding, everyone has their own idea about what ??full-service? board is. If you are thinking about boarding at Woodlawn, know that all the horses are turned out together and spend most of their time outside, unless the weather is bad or the horse needs to stay in for some reason ?? my horse loves this routine, is well taken care of and overall is happy. The barn staff is friendly, helpful and always watchful over all the horses. Bottom line: I highly recommend Woodlawn Stables to those who want a safe, fun place to learn to ride and appreciate the freedom that comes with it.

It's true Woodlawn isn't a "show team" stable, but if you are looking for a great riding environment with excellent instructors and healthy, happy horses, this is the place for you. They offer lessons for kids and adults at various levels

I came to the barn expecting to find a show team & well-trained horses.

But no, I found old lesson hags & people who barely know how to ride.

I do NOT recommend it to people who want to show or like a fast moving pace. I've been riding for 4 + years there (currently looking to move!) and the highest I've jumped is MAYBE 2ft.

You do no dressage, no eventing, nothing.

So all in all, don't recommend it.

I used to ride at Woodlawn Stables, I wasn't very happy with it. When I first came to Woodlawn, I had been riding for 5 years, I was in a intermidiate class. Most of the girls in my class didn't really know what they were doing, and we weren't jumping very high. I came knowing my lead changes and jumping 2.6ft in shows, and they put me in a class with girls who barely knew their leads. Many of the horse bite, I got bit at least once each lesson. I didn't find the staff very helpful. One of my friends were 9, and she was held back becuase of her age. She was a great rider, but she was stuck with all these beginner 2+ riders, when she should have been in a much higher class. If your a serious rider looking for a good place to ride and show, I dont reccomend Woodlawn.

I've always wanted riding lessons, but my parents could never find a stable close by. Until my friend recommended Woodlawn stables, they are great! The staff is nice, professional and know what there doing , and the horses are well kept for and seem very happy. They have both an indoor and outdoor area, which are in great condition. This is such a great place for kids and adults to learn how to ride horses.

I grew up riding and showing. As I got older things got very hectic and it is difficult to fit it all in. Now I take lessons twice a week to keep my legs and seat. I am having a great time. The horses are really good and I have my favorites. I have two different instructors and they both are genuinely interested in helping me become a better rider. They have summer camp and even one for adults! I feel like a kid again.
