This Chamber of Commerce is located in the town of Smithfield, VA.
One way of getting there is part of the fun - going from Jamestown, Route 31 takes you on to a "free" 20 minute ferry ride across the James River to the Isle of Wight. From the ferry it is about a 10 mile drive to Smithfield - the town of hams, history, and hospitality. Located on the corner of Main St. and Route 10 is the Chamber of Commerce. This place opens the door to a most unique, quaint, historic town - with many brochures as well as a staff that is most anxious to tell you about the town. Self-guided walking tours include a beautiful blend of Colonial, Federal, Georgian, and Victorian houses and buildings. Among the places to visit is a wonderful museum across the street from the Chamber of Commerce, several museums, many shops, an array of restaurants (our favorite is the Smithfield Inn), Located nearby is St. Luke's Church, the oldest Gothic church of English foundation in America. All in all this adds up to one of Virginia's best kept secrets. A GREAT PLACE TO VISIT!
