I'm not usually one to write bad reviews, but something's gotta give! It used to be that everyone wore gloves to serve food EVERYWHERE, but I'm finding that no-one does anymore. I went into the Village Pretzel place in Hatboro, PA because I was dying for one of their infamous Chili Cheese Dogs that one of my friends have been raving about. And when I went in there a while back, the older man who worked there just got done taking money. THEN, he went to stick his unwashed, ungloved hands in the hotdog bun bag and pulled out 2 buns. So I asked him "are you gonna put gloves on? I'm wierd about that kind of stuff, you just took someone's money!" He replied "No, we don't have any". He didn't even offer to wash his hands! WOAH! So I walked out, disgusted... So I go back like 3 weeks later, and this older woman was working at the time. I figured I'd give it another chance, maybe they ran out of gloves or something. So I go in there and again, order 2 ice creams and 5 chili-cheese dogs. So the lady, who didn't bother washing her hands, no gloves again, she put her hands in the hotdog bun bag. So now I'm getting a little annoyed! I asked her "Could you put on some gloves before you touch our food? I don't like other people's hands on my food, I'm sorry". She replies "No none of us wear gloves here".. Didn't even offer to wash HER hands either! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!? So again, disgusted, I walked out...
The point is, I had this razy misconception that all food services had to wear gloves and wash their hands before serving food. And after thinking about where these people's hands have been BEFORE touching my food, and all the sickness scares going around, it just isn't worth the risk. I absolutely refuse to eat food that someone else touched with their bare hands, especially if I witnessed them touching money and cleaning products, playing with their hair, coughing, whatever! And then they don't even bother to wash up after it?
That's plain NASTY and unsanitary!

Cons: They don't wear gloves or wash hands before touching food. The people that work there have an "oh well" attitude about the subject.

In the Philly suburbs, people are very picky about their soft pretzels. So, when I say Village Pretzels is an area favorite, that definately says something. Always fresh, always delicious!
