I have been purchasing mill mountain cofee sense the ninties. Over the past year, I have been purchasing coffee beans several times a month. Recently I purchased one half pound of espresso beans which I sometime do [other times one whole pound]. This tiem I requested water in a to go cup, which I sometimes also do. I was told by the man at the register that I would have to "pay" .27 cents for the to go cup. I declined and he then gave me a "plastic in store cup" half filled with water which had an "aweful" after taste! This seemed rude to me. I mean, who charges a paying customer for water? As a regular customer to Mill Mountain, I have become disallusioned by the decline of customer service quality at this particular store. I am not rude or short in my dealings with others and I am quite disappointed by the Starkey Road branch in particular. "Some" employees seem increasing rude. Who manages that store? Dont know, maybe the man who wanted to charge a paying customer for water.....

Pros: great coffee beans

Cons: Charging paying customers for take out water

This little gem is probably one of the best coffee shops in town. Locally run, it's a great place to try a new tea or coffee, buy grinds, and even more so, a great place to meet up with friends.

The only complaint is that service can lack from time to time, as overly-cavalier high school students get a little sloppy about things. But overall, the experience is good.
