Roman Cafe

We ate at the Roman Cafe last night (March 8, 2008) which is located in Harrington Park. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated. They have a fireplace, but they didn't light it; most likely because it was a warm night. It was not an ordinary night for them, because half way through dinner, the town experienced a blackout. Their backup up lights immediately came on, and the staff was right on top of it. They immediately lit candles to put on each table and set up portable emergency lights in different corners of the restaurant.

We went with two other couples and everyone was very happy with the food. We ordered calamari and duck spring rolls as an appetizer. A nice spring salad came with each meal. Our one friend would have been more happy with the quail dish he ordered if he could have been able to see what he was eating. Bones are tricky to navigate in the dark. I ordered the sesame crusted salmon and it was probably the best salmon dish I've ever had! My husband and brother-in-law ordered the lamb shank and also said their dish was delicious. My sister and our other friend ordered two different chicken dishes and were happy with each one.

The staff is super friendly and the service is superb, especially considering the circumstances, they made you feel that they had every thing under control. The restaurant was a bit pricey. We ordered one bottle of wine, two appetizers and six entrees. I'm not sure what the actual bill came to, but the cost was $92 per couple with tip. For a comparison, the menu choices, quality of food, pricing and service is very similar to Novelli in Wayne. Definitely recommended if you are in the Harrington Park area.

This restaurant is fantastice. The decor and ambiance is very upscale and tasteful. The food here is world class, top notch. Try anything it is all superb. Service is first rate, fast, friendly and efficient. Expensive but worth it.
