this is a nice find in bay ridge. what caught my eye was the whole front area being wide open. very nice bar and lounge area up front. thats where we hung out until a table was available. the wait wasnt too bad, about 20 mins. i noticed that they had an amazing selection of scotchs, so i enjoyed my waiting time at the bar. we were seated in the outdoor area in the back. very nice back there! we shared the rock shrimp for an appetizer, and had a bushido roll and garlic beef for dinner. i cant express enough how delicious the food was! all in all, a great experience. love the vibe of this place.

This place is really nothing special, just another sushi joint on the block. However they charge city prices for very mediocre food and fabricate their own reviews to attract people to this trap. Stay away.

My husband and I have dined here twice, and both times the experience has been wonderful. The decor and ambiance are just perfect for a date - it's quiet, with subdued light, and there's a beautiful garden out back. I don't understand what all the negative reviewers are talking about in regards to the food... Our sushi was very fresh both times we were here. The rolls were big and just melted in your mouth, and their sake was fantastic. The service is the only thing that could use improvement, the second time we were there the waiter kept ignoring us when we were trying to call him over, even though the place was not that busy. It's a pricey place, but we feel it's well worth it. It's a great dining experience.

I have been a loyal patron of Dish since their opening a few years ago. They were pioneers in introducing a more ecclectic scene to Bay Ridge. The restaurant has an artistic, zen decor and the staff is very accommodating. They have an extensive selection of tasty appetizers, rolls and entrees (I especially enjoy the garlic beef and MeSo lobster combo). Just recently they introduced a bar menu - the miso mini burgers/ wasabi fries are amazing. If you are looking for a light bite at the bar or a late night snack these burgers do not disappoint! With all these elements combined Dish is just a great, relaxed, fun spot. Looking forward to the warmer weather to have a few mojitos along with some very good food in their garden.

I went to this japanese restaurant tonight for my mom's birthday. We were seated for five people. The waiter approached our table and asked can I take your order of drinks. We ordered our soda and teas. For entree I ordered me the filet mignon. It was very succulent and tasty. I asked it for medium well and it was delicious. Mom ordered the shrimp and vegetable tempura. She said it was really good. My dad ordered the sushi sashimi for one. He said the fish was very fresh and very tasty. My nephew my cousin's son who is my godchild, he ordered the chirashi which he liked very much. My cousin ordered the Salmon Terriyaki. It was very tasty and very fresh also. I surprised mom with a chocolate mousse cake. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm was it so good! My godchild my nephew my cousin's son ordered the fried ice cream vanilla and was that oh so good too. I would come back to this place again and recommend it to others.

i was there last saturday with a party of 4 and i have to say form the second we walked in we were treated exceptionally well. very courteous staff, and helpful when trying to figure out what to order. all recommendations were right on and cocktails were great; especially my mojito.
i definitely recommend the "bushido roll" i think that was the name... really original and tasty!!
hang out late for great music as well...

I've never written a review for ANYTHING online but I love this place so much. I've eaten at Dish at least a dozen times and the food has been consistently outstanding. It's a very sleek cool Japanese and French fusion restaurant that knows how to do it right. I could NEVER eat sushi anywhere else in Brooklyn. I've tried many times but nothing compares. I always end up thinking I should have gone to Dish instead. Aside from the best sushi, the drink specials are the stuff of legends. They also have a lot to offer besides sushi. My favorite is the vegetable yaki udon with George's Filet. I've made many people try it too, so I know it's not just me. The servers know how to treat a good customer. Whenever I can't figure out what I want the bartender asks me a few questions and makes me just what I didn't even know I wanted. Even the valet guys are great! I just can't get enough of this place. It's trendy and upscale, but not in the snobby social climbing dead inside kind of way. Whenever I'm going out to eat with a food snob or someone I know is VERY picky, (specifically my cousin Shaun and my mom!) I take them here. They both love it.
Also, Thursday nights they have a different guest house dj every week and it's the real deal. The music is blasting on Fri and Sat nights too. So much fun. great crowd, great EVERYTHING.

Pros: Valet parking in Bay Ridge, which is as good as gold. Best House DJs around.

Cons: If you forget to make a reservation from Thurs through Saturday, you probably won't get seated.

Don't settle for the run-of-the-mill piece of salmon at Dish. While plain pieces of sushi/sashimi are fresh and delicious (ok, grap a slice of Toro if available), the real treats here are the specialty rolls. In particular, the Firefighter (includes shrimp tempura and banana), Italian (includes lobster and sundried tomato) and Bushido (shrimp and mango with 3 sauces) are out of this world. Also impressive, the chef will make any roll you desire with brown rice!

Great place overall to relax after hard day's worth of work. I'd say the chef is far more creative than their direct competition on 3rd ave, nuevelle's pretentious crowd. Check out the patio and the dj on the weekends..very friendly atmosphere and competetive priced menu. Drinks on me!!

There is no way this guy desire that many good comments!!! I was there with my uncle whose visit me from California about a month ago, since there are a thousand of people rated them so well, so i went there. I ain't a cheap guy in which, i am treating my uncle so everything i picked were something good on the menu! 1st, i order 4 pieces of Amaebi, the prawns ain't fresh at all, and they were like $8 a piece! I ordered mostly "shisimi" & sushi, because i know if they are using the fresh ingredients, u could tell by the sushi rather than rolls, in which, nothing really up to an "average" standard! but guess what, they were like $4-5 PER PIECE! i also order a "crazy roll" which cost more than $10 but it is way too small for the price (yes, i think that's is how they name it crazy, because only the crazy people like me would order those). even the mojito, it is way too weak, i ain't a regular cocktail drinker, but i can say i can't feel any liquor at all. the bill came up to like $92, but i think we desire a bit better quality of food for that price we spent for ONLY 2 persons!!! I personally think that, their other competitors - Novelle & Bangkok Toyko do a way, way better job than them!
One other thing i like to mention, it is easy to find out whose is doing their own reviews, i have been using citysearch for awhile, i realize if one company have tons of reviews, but most of the reviewer ONLY has 1 citysearch review, then u know the people in the company made up their own!!! check this guy out, almost most of them are like that!!!

I've been to Dish twice so far. Once during the day, and once at night. Let me break it down for you. My family and I went during the day on a Saturday and were treated to prompt and attentive service. The garden is very nice in the back, I would recommend sitting there on a nice sunny day. The food was delicious (my dinner companion noted that the california roll was falling apart though, and that Nouvelle's was better. C'est la vie!) The presentation of the food was fantastic, everyone raved about it, and we all left happy. I would gladly recommend Dish to anyone at this point. NOTE: ate there during the day, no one else in restaurant.

I went back to Dish on a recent evening to order takeout based on this initial positive experience. We were in the mood for sushi, so that's what we ordered. It was a little crowded, but not insane. Waited 20 min, which I was ok with. The bus boy brought out two bags of food, didn't announce who they were for, and left. The bartender did not either (we had to order at the bar, where an arrogant bar patron kept staring at us). This same arrogant bar patron, who had continued to stare at us on and off for twenty minutes, stood up, and with his guests, took both bags of food and left. One of them happened to be ours. So not only were we disrespected, but our food was stolen too. We were made to wait another 20 min. while it was re-prepared. No complimentary drinks were offered, no refunds. Just an arrogant bartender (didn't smile once) and bar patrons. I was blown away that people could be so cold and rude. Never again will we subject ourselves to this treatment- stand up, Brooklyn, and let them know too- don't stand for this kind of treatment! Crappy club atmosphere at night, totally different than during the day. Not recommended at night under any circumstances.
I'd love to give a better review, but having my food stolen was enough to sour me on Dish. Thanks, but no thanks. This Dish is broken!

Awesome sushi!! I've been to a lot great , expensive suhi places in the city and Dish definitely measures up. The rolls are fantastic and creative and the quality of the fish is terrific (really like the Crazy Avocado and the Monster roll). Very knowledgable staff, yummy drink menu, and variety of sake. They even gave us the healthier option to prepare rolls using brownrice instead of white rice! Decor is very nice, and they have an outdoor garden seating area that I look forward to eating in when the weather gets warmer.

This is great sushi! Great atmosphere- great service. I have been there twice inthe past two weeks, and I imagine I will go back next week. Do not order until you hear the specials. The specials are amazing!

Dish has great cocktails for starters~ Try the Pretty in Pink! The roll selection had a great variety and even had a nice selection of cooked rolls for diners who aren't a fan of the raw fish. The presentation was tasteful, and the waiter was very polite and attentive. This restaurant has a nice city feel with an outdoor dining area out back for when the weather is nice.

I've disagreed with user ratings before, but this is the first time I've ever thought they were rigged. There is no way the sushi is even remotely close to the best. Many of the pieces I had were fishy and those that weren't had no flavor. The soba (even though my wife ordered udon) was very bland also. To top it all off, the soy sauce tasted watered down. Its only saving grace is that the decor was very hip. My wife and I were excited to try Dish because of its high rating and its great decor. Unfortunately, this turned out to be one of our most disappointing dining experiences ever. There needs to be a way for Citysearch to screen bogus reviews that trump up a marginal restaurant.

this place is awesome! the mood was relaxing. we had the soft shell crab (it came with a sweet chilli sauce), dynamite, and rock shrimp for apppetizers, then we hv the crystal roll and monster roll and a few piece of salmon( the fish was very fresh, feel like it just came out of the sea), for entree we hv the fillet mignon and chicken udon, everything was great and the waiter gave us free desserts. and u hv to try there cocktail, overall we spend least then 100dollar with tips. U HV TO TRY IT !!!!!!!

Best sushi I've come acrooss in Bensonhurst/BayRidge. Our waiter was great. Recommended a few rolls and appetizers which were delicious just as he said they would be and even offered to take anything we didn't like back, Which was not necessary because everything was delicious. Great variety, great drinks, great service. Will definitly go back. Group of 6 ladies sat down at 7:30 left at 11:00 never asked to leave never rushed!!

With all the choices for Sushi we have these days, it's difficult to really find a favorite spot. However, Let me tell you, this place on 3rd avenue has really good sushi. The place is pretty and the staff is friendly. I definetly recommend Dish to anyone...Make the trip, it's worth it.....and better yet, after a great dinner, just down the block is probably the best cupcakes this side of the Mississippi...

Oh my gosh! Have you been back to Dish? It was great then and now, even better! They got more leather booths, the drawing on the wall is finally done, and there's now a heated patio with waterfall for private parties or just simply a cigarette break. The new menu looks really classy with quite a few new dishes. Drinks are as delicious as always. Service is phenomenal. Our waitress bought us a round of after drinks too. Sipping on a bottle of the house feature Geysey Peak Sauvignon Blanc and munching on the NEW beef negimaki with live house music in this christmas decorated restaurant is definitely a very memorable night.

Dish is definitly the best japanese/ Sushi restaurant in NYC. I love the food and the atmosphere there. The service is great and their is valet parking which is a muct in bklyn. The restaurant is very classy. It is good for singles and couples. Sometimes you just don't want to just eat dinner and leave, it is nice to listen to music and have some drinks while you are eating. I love everything about DISH. It is a five star restaurant !!!!!! The martinis are great, they have wacky names and the sushi rolls are my favorite and the rock shrimp. Everyone needs to go have a dish at Dish!!!!!!!!!!!!

I HAD ABOUT 45 FAMILY & FRIENDS AT MY GRADUATION PARTY AT DISH. WE HAD SUCH AN AWESOME TIME!! MY FAMILY KEPT ON RAVING ABOUT THE FOOD & THEY THOUGHT IT WAS THE PERFECT ATMOSPHERE FOR A GRADUATION PARTY!! MY COUSIN WHO LOVES SUSHI, IS BOOKING A PARTY THERE FOR HIS WIFE'S 30TH SURPRISE PARTY!! I was a little dispointed after reading the great reveiws. Sat outside garden/bar. The sushi was average. Nothing special. Had the SeaBass it was very fishy and not fresh. I love the design of this restaurant very clean lines, city feel nice bathrooms. Did not like the idea of unisex brings more of a bar/club feel and older crowd will steer clear. After I ate I noticed a very young crowd. I mean under 23 yrs., Which in turn, turned me off to not stay at the bar. Considering there was not a large crowd I expected better service. I was planing on giving my server $15.00 dollar tip instead he never brought back change, giving himself and extra $5.00 dollars. Which I thought very unprofessional.

THE PLACE WAS GREAT!!!! THE FOOD WAS THE BEST I HAVE HAD IN BROOKLYN!!! THE SUSHI WAS FRESH AND THE FILET MIGNON WAS MADE WITH AN AWESOME SAUCE!!! THERE WAS ALSO A LIVE DJ PLAYING THE HOLE NIGHT!!! I FELT LIKE I WAS IN MIAMI!! I SPOKE TO ONE OF THE OWNERS AND HE TOLD ME THAT THE OUTSIDE PATIO WILL BE OPEN BY JUNE.. For those of you who are not big sushi lovers, trust me you will love this place. The place is totally trendy. My friends and I went there because we heard so much about it, and we loved it. Not only was the food good, but the service was excellent. My Friends and I were also very impressed, that the owners of the place came over to meet with us. Very nice Italian guys too.

My friends and I had dinner at Dish the other night and were presently surprised with the whole experience. The food was delicious, the best I have had in a long time. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We even had the pleasure of meeting the two owners of the restaurant. They came over to our table and introduced themselves and asked us how are dining experience was going and if we needed anything. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that the both of them were Italian, how many Italian guys own Japanese restaurants? I would absolutely recommend going to Dish, it was wonderful.

Much better than any other imitators of "trendy" fusion restaurants around the area, a lot more cozier and chiller environment. Pretty good house cocktails, nice to see someone put some thought in that instead of throwing together a bunch of crap. Attention to detail was evident from the first minute and at every turn - makes you at ease thinking that you're getting some quality food and drink. definitely recommend. nyce.

Dish is a great restaurant and has a really nice bar as well. I am a sushi lover and Dish has some of the best that I have ever tasted. The food is delicious, fresh and reasonably priced. Even if your not a sushi fan, they serve a little bit of everything. I would even recommend going, if you just want to go and have a couple of drinks at the bar. They have a beautiful bar with an extensive drink menu. I highly recommend Dish to all who want great food, service and a beautiful atmosphere.

I first had dinner at Dish a few weeks ago and now it is my new favorite restaurant. The food is excellent, extremely fresh and beautifully presented. Besides the food, the restaurant itself is gorgeous, nothing like you would normally find in Brooklyn. If you are looking for a great place to eat with a terrific scene than this is the place to go. I would highly recommend it to everyone.

Me and my boyfriend came to the restaurant for our anniversary last week. Everything was just right, mood was just right. It was romantic, with dim candle light, some soft music and some fine wine, not to mention the mouth watering appetizers. And the dessert yummy,,He did something right by taking me there for out anniversary. I fell in love with him all over again :)

Dish is the most trendy new place in Bay Ridge. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, like nothing you would normally find outside of Manhattan. The food is out of this world, with a great menu selection. They have lounge like music playing as you dine and it has a fantastic ambience. I highly recommend trying Dish if you want a magnificent dining experience.

This area is packed with restaurants. I don't think there is anything as trendy as Dish. The sushi is delicious and the entrees are really good too. The weekends get packed fast so I would go during the week if you get a chance.
